Pros +
- Very polite staff at check in and during my stay. Very good breakfast. Overall easy to find and park. Very quiet location.
- Staff are very friendly and helpful. Second time we have stayed here after long haul flights, and love the retro style baths - wonderful to soak in a hot bubble bath after an arduous journey. Please don’t get rid of the baths!
- I had a spacious and comfortable room and the bed was very comfortable too. The breakfast was fine, it set me up for walking on the nearby hills.
Cons -
- Nothing springs to mind.
- I can’t fault anything!
- The bread at breakfast was a little disappointing; in a French-owned hotel one might have hoped for something more than standard sliced loaf.

Friendly, helpful reception and breakfast staffWarm controllable room, radiator and valve
Cold ground floor corridors, but not a problem, saves energy and it is february
The bed was comfy and the pillows. The bathroom was spacious and bath ran fast for bath within minutes! The room was tidy. Brewing facilities (just about) didn’t hear anyone else in other rooms even though there was a birthday event in a main room we heard nothing.
Unfortunately room 899 we had a doggy radiator (it just needed bleeding) but the trickling water noise was really loud we had to turn off our radiator even though we was cold because it wouldn’t heat properly. Also the room had a broke plug socket so there was only a spare socket and no bedside sockets. We had a valex window which I had to get my partner to open and close because I couldn’t reach. Windows were dirty so couldn’t take advantage of the view. Only 4 sugars for brews for 2x people for 1 night stay. No small fridge this is a must really.
Great location, 2 mins from motorway. Lots of parking spaces. A little dated but very clean and great value for money. Good breakfast as well!
A little dated
Very convenient for our stay to see friends. Room was excellent.
My husband is in a wheelchair and the lift was not as user friendly as it could have been to get to the bar area. A ramp would be more efficient . We travel a lot and hotel and restaurants with ramps instead of lifts are better.
A good location from which...
We had not stayed at this hotel before. It was rather difficult to find in the dark - an illuminated sign clearly visible from the main road would have helped considerably.
The staff were helpful
The fact I had to move rooms as window was broken and drafty it was cold and moldy and bed felt like sleeping on a rock
Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast and comfortable room.
This was our second stay and we got an upgrade, the room was fab. Nice hot shower. Value for money
The room was warm and cosy considering to time of year and weather. The breakfast was excellent value, with a great choice.
I felt I was in a rabbits warren. I got lost twice going to breakfast. The names on rooms are confusing.
Comfortable room. Shared with a friend for our work's Christmas party. Lady on Reception was lovely and chatty, we won a breakfast each whilst waiting to check in! Breakfast was tasty and the room was quiet.
In one of the corridors, near to the back of the hotel, it had a musty smell.
Ideal location near our family.
Sorry the pool was not there ,we stayed last Christmas & booked again anticipating the pool . Plumbing in the toilet needs attention. The hotel is rather ‘tired’ now
Had a great party night and it was convenient to stay over
It’s very dated and is in desperate need of re decorating and new bathrooms
The staff were brilliant
There were screaming children everywhere running up and down the halls no staff to stop them ruining Christmas decorations. My husband didn’t feel safe picking up our evening meal.
Location is very good. Cost and free upgrade appreciated, room very well equipped and comfortable.
Nothing really for the cost per night great value.
Easy booking online. Easy check in at reception as I paid prior to arriving. Helpful receptionist as always. Clean room, plenty space in double room for two of us for 1 night. Couldn't hear any noise from other rooms or guests or traffic as we were on back looking over rivington. Always a pleasant stay each year we come. We have now booked mercure in York for next year's anniversary stay.
Nothing we didn't like.
I had a really enjoyable stay and felt welcome from the moment I arrived .There was a small issue , the manager on duty resolved it quickly and professionally and kindly offered a drink at the bar and complimentary breakfast, which was a lovely gesture. A special thank you to Irene, who went above and beyond, nothing was too much trouble. I would happily return .
Dated furniture is in need of refurbishment and maintenance in areas . More attention to detail within housekeeping, especially with providing essentials bathroom waste bin liners within the bathroom , towels, and bath matt . Tea , coffee facilities tray to be replenished before it's ready for new guests.
