Clean. Well looked after building considering its age

Our bedroom was over the concert room and there was an event in the morning and the sound was loud .no chance of a lie in. Breakfast was too early 8:30-9:30, would have been good till 10:30

Nice staff. Nice furnishings. Low price.

Very noisy. Think came from radiators.

Lovely traditional hotel, staff were nice and the shower was great

The mattress! I’ve stayed here before and the mattresses are in desperate need of replacing. The halls could do with a hoover. Room was very hot

Booked this as a last minute overnight , got there the hotel was really busy , staff were nice and friendly and as a bonus gave us a free upgrade to a suite

The hotel as a whole could do with sone TLC

Staff were very friendly, hard working. Breakfast was great

Room had a funny smell on arrival that seemed to linger even after staff had clean

    5EdwinaPosted on: 1-18-2026

Lounge and dining room. Breakfast was good. Reception friendly. Parking was fine although car park was quite small.

Room was very basic. Beds uncomfortable, plug didn’t fit in the sink, radiators didn’t come on, fan in bathroom was very noisy. Lift was out of order when we arrived and we were unable to walk up to the second floor due to disabilities, no offer of help with bags.

Nothing to like, absolute toilet. the place absolutely stunk the only good thing was the free parking on the side street.

Uncomfortable horrible funiture and bed with strange stains. Absolutely disgusting unclean. The whole place smelt dirty and like smoke. Thats because it was filthy.

Worst hotel i have stayed in

It was freezing heating not on downstairs or in our room, could do with a good upgrade as very dated curtains were scuffy and nets were dirty.Food was poor not hot enough and not alot of choice, Entertainment very poor only on for half an hour also not alot of choice of drinks behind bar and very expensive. Will not be booking again and would not recommend to friends.

I liked the location, the hotel was across the road from my favourite part of the seafront, check-in was easy, staff were nice, I loved the grand decor, tram stop was right outside the main entrance, my room was quiet, compact and nice and warm. The weather outside was freezing cold so it was nice to return to a warm room. I would rather stay in this hotel than a B&B, guest house type of establishment. I liked it there.

The bed was rather uncomfortable and the windows had frosted glass so I couldn't see outside. But maybe that was a blessing in disguise. Bathroom floor was slightly grubby.

Large social areas restaurant, bar area etc. breakfast was ok, could have had more options for cold food e.g pastries, cereals etc for the price.

Very very dated and old, rooms not very clean and rooms incredible small. Really gutted we spent so much when we could have had nicer for less.

Clean, tidy and brilliant staff with a brilliant seafront location

Little bit out dated in style and room tv &Chanel’s was old and basic plug sockets so kids had to take turn charging iPads etc but wasn’t the end of the world

Nice hotel with sea view, nicely warm rooms,

    Breakfast was hectic

The Hotel looked quite grand and welcoming when we first arrived, and the reception staff were helpful and friendly. The breakfast was acceptable.

On arrival, there was a sign on the main entrance door stating that the Hotel was closed, which was confusing, so we walked round the side looking for another door. We eventually saw some other guests entering via the door with the sign, so followed them in. The receptionist was friendly and helpful, and it looked quite pleasant once inside. We proceeded from the reception area to the lift, we were allocated room 231 on the 2nd floor. We waited a long while for the lift to come down, to find it extremely small with none of the lights working to tell us which floor we were on. Although we had requested a room suitable for someone with mobility issues, we got out the lift to find we had to walk a very long distance along several dirty corridors to our room. The Hotel was uncomfortably hot, but when we opened the door to our room, it was unbearable. I managed to open one window, there was no way of seeing out as the windows were frosted. When we tried to open the other window, the handle was not attached as had been snapped off and left on the ledge. There was a fan, which helped a little, but there was no way any of us were getting to sleep in that heat! I attempted to turn the radiators down, but one was jammed solid, the other only turned slightly, and on reaching down to find the control, I found dirt, dust, flaked off paint, suspicious looking splashes up the wall, and some disgusting dead bugs. At that point, I noticed the thick layer of dust on the drawers on, around, and behind the TV, which incidentally was plugged into a very loose socket. The windowsills were also filthy, as was the carpet which was covered in stains, thick dust in all the corners, and rubbish left under our bed. There was a step up into the bathroom, where the threshold strip was loose and raised, causing us both to trip over.
