Coach & Horses Hotel has a traditional bar and restaurant, a large garden, and en suite, air-conditioned bedrooms. It is a few minutes' walk from the National Archives and Kew Steam Museum. All rooms feature a 32 inch flat screen TV with Sky channels, work desk, mini fridge and Nespresso machine. Heathrow Airport is 20 minutes away. We’re super excited to share that we’re having a bit of a makeover. Between 16 September 2024 and 4 November 2024, 12 of our bedrooms will be closed for refurbishments. Although we’ll try to keep noise and disturbance to minimum, please keep this in mind when booking to stay with us during this time. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause and look forward to sharing our new look.

Pros +
- This was our second stay here, and although we left it a little late to book and the upgraded rooms were fully booked, we were more than happy with our standard room (Room 30). It exceeded our expectations and was perfect for our two-night stay. The room was well appointed and thoughtfully prepared. We particularly liked the fresh milk in a bottle for tea and coffee, and the well-stocked mini bar, priced the same as the main bar, which was a great touch.Alicja is an absolute credit to the Coach and Horses. She is both helpful and knowledgeable, and she made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay. There’s a choice of parking (underground or above ground), and despite being located on the main road, the hotel is impressively quiet inside. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again
- Comfortable twin room with tea and coffee facilities. Staff friendly. Free parking which is a big plus in the area. Booked room only arrived late and left early so can't comment further.
- Clean and tidy. Very accommodating staff and the bar was buzzing with localsThe evening meal was okay the waitress was very helpful
Cons -
- Breakfast on the first morning was very good, although the service was quite slow, with around a 30-minute wait. On the second morning, the wait was even longer (approximately 40 minutes), and unfortunately the breakfast was served cold. As we were short on time, we weren’t able to wait for a hot replacement. That said, to be fair, the cost of breakfast was refunded immediately and without any quibble, which we appreciated.
- The television in our room seemed to only be able to get SKY news. It was too late to try and get someone to assist so we did without.
- On a main road luckily we were at the back of the hotel so couldn’t hear any road noise

Lovely rooms which are very clean and well presented. Amazing staff who make you feel very welcome. Will definitely come back
Directions and instructions to operate coffee machine would have been helpful. .only oat milk for coffee was in the room, other milk options should have been available.
deluxe twin is generously sized. good breakfast - eggs benedict. no veggies (no surprise - typical, no problem :) ). very nice pub with quiz night (be prepared for tough questions)
Close proximity to Kew Gardens, Richmond and the National Archives makes the Coach and Horses and idelic solution for those wanting to visit the area! Beautiful.
The room and the lovely receptionist Alicia very accommodating and helpful.Has great customer service.all staff very attentive and helpful.
Cereal in morning was not on breakfast bar
Everything was perfect during our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and everything worked as it should. What really made the experience special was the receptionist Michael. He was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional. He gave us great recommendations, helped with all our questions, and made us feel very welcome from the start. Thanks to his help, our stay was smooth and enjoyable. Would definitely stay again.
Alicia in reception is fantastic
False Alarm going off at 3 o clock in the morning
Great location with parking close to central London. Clean and tidy room. Excellent staff with very friendly and accommodating receptionist.
Been very picky room was getting a little tired but for value more than acceptable.
Fab
Would have liked choice of cake and biscuits with tea/coffeeAlso porridge for breakfast would be excellent
Exceptional reception staff member, highly professional and personable, who made us feel very welcome and went beyond her duty to provide travel help and advice including booking taxi’s. A real credit to the company. Our quiet room on ground floor was excellent. Clean, well styled and fully stocked with everything we needed. Fantastic that Iron, Ironing board and hairdryer were provided in room without having to ask for them.
The staff were generally young, proactive and welcoming. Alicja on Reception set the tone. She was a warm and professional. very well informed and willing to be of assistance. Food was generally good and the bar had a very good atmosphere.
The room was nice and comfortable; the bathroom a little tired and cramped.
Our room was fine, shabby chic decor. Bed was comfortable. Toiletries were lovely smelling. The breakfasts and coffee were exceptional! I wish I’d stayed longer to sample them all! Unfortunately, my car was broken into in the rear car park. This wasn’t the fault of the Hotel, but they did absolutely everything to make dealing with it easier and less stressful. So many thanks to Mandy and the other lady on the Hotel reception (apologies I didn’t get your name) but they couldn’t have been more helpful and kind.
It’s a personal choice, but we didn’t like the pillows on the bed. They were too soft. The bar staff on Friday afternoon were nowhere near as friendly and welcoming as the Hotel staff.
Pleasent bar and dining areas with welcoming log burning stoves. Good sized room with well stocked mini bar and snack hamper at reasonable prices. Lovely location on Kew Green, 10 min walk from Kew Gardens and 10min drive to Richmond Park.
Small things... the room was superficially clean, but evidence that it hadn't been thoroughly cleaned for a while. Member of staff putting cutley on table holding forks by their tines. Menu divest of vegetables...not even the option to order veg as a side dish. Breakfast room full of uncleared tables around mid service time so went to eat in bar.
Fabulous location, great access to trains into Richmond and Central London, perfect location for Kew Gardens and the National Archives
The location , staff and how cosy and homely the rooms are .
Pillows needed replacing and the shower head needed a good clean but everything else was perfect !!
Have stayed many times I love the hotel, pub, location and the free car park but most of all I value the staff with a special shout out to the head receptionist she is wonderful!
Sadly the occupants of room 15 had their tv blaring until 3am which disturbed our sleep this time but this is not the hotel’s fault just inconsiderate guests
Friendly staff , fab location when visiting the Archives easily walkable . Close to underground and train stationGreat room , suprisingly quiet to say on main Street. Bar and food very good.
Shower needed sealing ,
Good location, very clean and comfortable, friendly staff.
