Great location for our needs, restaurants, river, railway station, Hampton Court Palace, general site seeing.Great room, good size set in historic environment, warm, well equipped and clean.Staff friendly and helpful.Great location for breakfast and meals overlooking River Thames
I think they coukd improve on the catering side, minor issues for some but noticeable i.e. no loose sugar for cereal, the cooked breakfast needed to be warmer, no hot plates for cooked breakast. We arrived in the evening, so choice of any room service was limited, apart from meals from main menu, needs a bit more choice.
Lovely traditional building and style. The food was delicious with the second best hotel breakfast we have ever had. Staff were attentive.
The floor in the bedroom dipped quite noticeably (yes it is an old building and has probably settled) but the bed was then tilted. If you get a room like this make sure the lighter of you sleeps on the raised side of the bed as it will make for a very uncomfortable night's sleep as my husband rolled more than what we thought was possible.
The staff
Restaurant food was terrible and over priced. Rooms were dark and tired. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. It was supposed to be a 4 star hotel. I would rate it 2 star basic hotel.
Clean and comfortable
It was a bit noisy in the Christopher Wren room from the road .
Bed was comfortable. First room had a view of a courtyard, but I was moved to a room lookin g towards the river. Breakfast room had a nice ambience and great view.
No desk in first room and when I was moved it was small desk on the opposite side of the room - can't sit to eat room service whilst also wacthing the TV without moving the desk. And the phone kept falling off the phone base when you do move the desk. Bedside tables (baskets) impracticable. TV remote would not turn off the TV. Lack of mixer taps meant the water was either scolding or freezing. Sink sticks out a long way so you're too far away from the mirror. Shower screen small, so difficult to take a shower without flooding the floor.Breakfast room chairs were awkward to sit in as the arms stopped you moving your elbows back when eating. Breakfast selection had mushrooms and tomatoes in the same serving tray.
Location to to tran station and local restaurants and places to see and the river
Lovely room, great breakfast with fabulous view, location excellent. Brasserie, fabulous view, great service and the food was excellent, the best Sea Bass I have ever had.
Although not busy, had it been the car park is small.
Checking in was very simple and friendly. We were shown to our room and given a full tour of what was available - the suite was both impressive with its facilities and generous in size. It is something of a rabbit warren, but this left us feeling that there was something more to see at every turn. It's location for what we wanted was excellent, giving us a commending view of Hampton Court Palace, the River Thames and more. All in all a very pleasant stay on what was an important occasion for us, celebrating a milestone birthday for my partner.
We felt that staffing levels might have been a little low - reception wasn't fully attended and I had to go in search of a staff member when I had a request to make, after having first called down by phone which wasn't answered. In the scheme of things however, this really wasn't a huge problem and the staff member I encountered dealt with my query. We didn't eat at the hotel on the evening of our stay - breakfast was generous, but some of the hot buffet items had clearly been standing for some time and had rather dried out. More frequent refreshment would have made things more appetising.
The location was fabulous and the staff so friendly. All the little extras like complimentary cookies and complimentary Madeira drinks at 9pm in the library were very much enjoyed and appreciated. Peter and Elena at reception were extremely welcoming and accommodating. We will most definitely be back for another visit.
great hotel, we will be going back there, staff were attentive, warm and very easy to get on with, service was excellent. The Hotel is lovely, not your large corporate style , more boutique and individual which suited us perfectly, breakfast was great, real orange juice not your concentrated rubbish, would highly recommend.
There was nothing to not like.
Lovely, welcoming staff, from the porter to reception to the breakfast crew. The room far exceeded my expectations in size and comfort, and especially in cleanliness and presentation. The highest-quality tea bags too! Location can't be bettered for Hampton Court Palace. The quality of the breakfast was very high and the breakfast room looking out over the Thames was super-special.
An extra blanket in the wardrobe would have been nice, and I didn't find the extension cord until too late -- there was no plug socket that reached the bed to charge my phone overnight without it.
The Receptionist, Ashley, was an absolute star! She rescued my phone which I had inadvertently left in the bar and was extremely kind, helpful and hospitable. I believe she went above and beyond in her duties in welcoming me and a colleague and other people who I saw. The breakfast was very good and the breakfast room with that view made it very memorable. I like the new little touches like the cookies, the complimentary glass of wine and madeira later. My room was very quiet and I had a peaceful night's sleep!
I would really have like to have had some biscuits in my room as I'd arrived not having had any lunch and it would have been nice to munch some with a cup of tea and relax. While the cookies in the morning is nice, I was in a hurry at check-out and didn't really have time to take advantage of them.
An ideal location for Hampton Court Palace.Stunning building.Staff superb, and nothing too much trouble.Dinner was fabulous.Breakfast had a good selection to suit everyone's requirements. The decor and the comfort of our room marvellous. You won't be disappointed.
Leaving !
Wow what a hotel, extremely impressive bedrooms , the beds are so comfortable and the linen/bedding fantastic. The welcome drink and the night cap in the library was a lovely touch.Staff all fantastic
Nothing to fault
Everything about our stay was incredible! The staff were so kind and friendly, including to our dog who joined us for the stay. I would highly recommend The Mitre for a retreat with dogs joining!
Unfortunately l didn't have breakfast or visit the bar, restaurant etc as l had a bad back and during my stay couldn't leave my room. I found the room comfortable
I can't comment due to my situation
I really enjoyed my stay at The Mitre Hampton Hotel. The river view was absolutely beautiful and made the whole experience feel peaceful and relaxing. The staff were exceptionally friendly, always trying to help and responding quickly to any requests, which made me feel very welcome.
One thing to note is that there was no air conditioning on the first floor, so I ended up moving to an upper floor and paying extra. While the room was comfortable, I did feel the price was a bit high compared to the facilities and features provided.
