    Pros +

    • Central location, near to station, pleasing Victorian/Edwardian building, well modernised, room very clean, good price, breakfast excellent
    • This was fair done by me they stole my card .
    • Grand building with an attractive lobby. Room (the cheapest double) was adequate with a comfortable bed and reasonable size. The central location was easily accessible by rail or road just off A63, with discounted rates on parking beside station.

    Cons -

    • Well its Hull in February, so maybe not the most exciting of locations, but the warmth of the Hotel was most welcome after the rain and wind outside!
    • I didn't see it or charged it my account it was un authorized charge
    • Rooms, whilst clean and attractive, did not match aesthetic and grandeur of the building. Some noise could be heard from corridor but not enough to disturb or frustrate us.

Hotel cancelled our booking two hours before check-in

Left home at 1.30pm with ETA 4pm, just in time for check-in. Received an email at 2.13pm whilst on route stating the hotel could not longer take our booking with no explanation other than “the hotel is closed for public” leaving us frantically searching for new accommodation. Due to this, I wouldn’t be recommending to stay here due to their unpredictability

My booking was cancelled months ago due to this hotel been taken over by government as an immigrant staging hotel. This is the info I got in the cancellation email from the hotel

I cannot comment on this property

I did not like the fact that they cancel our booking on behalf of taking in immigrants in such a historical Central Hotel of high standard

I booked this hotel a few weeks ago for my friend's birthday we had planned to go for a meal then a few drinks.. We arrived at the Royal to be refused.... We should of got a email telling us that this hotel was closed... So we were stuck in hull with nowhere to stay.... We rang around lots of different hotels to be told they were all full due to it being bank holiday... We never had a meal as we were to busy trying to find somewhere else.... So thank you for nothing it spoiled a friends 50th birthday... After the year we have had we was really looking forward to this and was very upset and disappointed

we can’t really comment as the booking was cancelled by the hotel to fill it with immigrants!!!!

    1ColinPosted on: 7-29-2022

    It was shut.

    1MervynPosted on: 5-28-2022

Booking was cancelled by The Royal before the visit so had to book into another hotel, hence the low rating. I'm sure it would have been good if it wasn't cancelled.
