The Carmichael - Hull City Centre

I liked the location of the property.

Bed linen was stained when we arrived in our room and we asked for it to be changed. No housekeeping staff were working and so we were given another room. The new room smelled musty and the tv didn’t work. The bathroom had no heating and was very cold. Despite running it for a while the hot water got no hotter than the temperature of an indoor swimming pool. In an already freezing bathroom this made the morning shower something of a trial, but at least I could look forward to a hearty breakfast. No. The chef didn’t turn up for work so there was just toast and tea/coffee available instead of the full English I was looking forward to. Throughout this miserable experience the staff were as accommodating as they could be and did their best under trying circumstances.

Central location for the city .Places of interest & public transport within walking distance. Modernised rooms in an old property. Comfortable, warm room in cold weather.

A few technology issues re the heating operation & getting connected to WiFi . Signing in to tv operation was not very easy. Staff promptly helped to get everything up & running.

We arrived late Sunday night after another hotel let us down. They were very sympathetic and gave us a room without booking in advance. Staff were very friendly, the room was good, heating perfect for the cold weather. Perfect city centre location for easy reach to every thing you need.

The price when we arrived was super expensive compared to Booking .com. I had to mess about on my phone to book a room at reception, It would have been great if reception could have price matched? Was strange for me.

There is an extra charge to access the gym which needs a bit of an upgrade.

Still signs of building work been completed and some to poor standard in finish to joinery and painting,Only one pillow, lack of furniture in room like two chairs, no heating in the bathrooms.Laundry and cages array at the lift area making the area feel untidy and unwelcoming

Not sure I sussed the room heating. Parking might be a bit tight for bigger cars but ok once you find it

Unable to control heating easily. Reliant on wall heater/air con which was noisy. Room felt very cold.

Free car park available, able to leave the car first thing in the morning to check-in later.

Heating was linked to electricity and could work only when in the room. So the room was very cold at my arrival and cold every evening once back at the hotel. No heating in the bathroom, which was the smallest I have ever seen.My room was not done.

Location perfect for visiting city landmarks, venues & shops. Very smart property with modern well heated rooms, comfortable bed, spotless bathroom , clean & well serviced. V friendly & helpful staff.
