About
In a picturesque bay in the south of Skye, this hotel has beautiful views over the Sound of Sleat and the distant hills of Knoydart. It is also home to the headquarters of the award-winning Gaelic Whiskey company. With log fires in its reception rooms and a wood-paneled dining room where you can enjoy candlelit dinners, Hotel Eilean Iarmain retains many traditional features. Its hallway is decorated with stag antlers and a stuffed golden eagle. Rooms have wooden furnishings, and some have open fireplaces. Each also features facilities for making tea and coffee, and has scenic views from the windows. Suites also feature a TV. Free WiFi is available throughout the property. The restaurant offers à la carte dining, with a menu including local seafood and game. There is also a well-stocked bar with a choice of fine wines and real ales.

What a charming and comfortable stay we had. We’re so happy to have booked 3 nights here as our base for Isle of Skye exploration. The inn is beautifully sited along the water and includes a cozy pub and art gallery. Rooms are very comfortable and well appointed and the meals - fantastic. It’s possible to reserve in the dining room or have the same menu choices in the attached pub for a more casual experience. At the end of a day of traveling the isle it was so wonderful to sit near the roaring fire in the common room. But what made this stay particularly special was the well coordinated and cheerful staff. And in particular we have to point out that Matty, the jack of all trades, welcomed us at reception, kept the fire stoked, offered helpful advice and came to the rescue with a tire pressure gauge when we had some minor car trouble - all with a smile on a face. He’s a true gem and wonderful face for the inn.
Nice staff, really good breakfast
No A/C
Excellent location, many rooms looking out over water. Great dinner and breakfast. We liked the dinner so much we returned for a second night. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice dock area, bar, and even a little art studio as well.
The people and the atmosphere in the bar. Wonderful. This is why scotland is so nice to travel.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The property is gorgeous, beautifully decorated and with amazing sea views. Our room was big and very comfortable with a modern bathroom. They provided a cot for our baby, plus a very lovely welcome bag of treats, bowls and bed for our dog. The staff were wonderful, and we loved going to the pub out the back of the hotel for drinks and dinner. Food was really good, both the pub dinners and the hotel breakfasts.
Only one small negative mark was that the loo in our bathroom hadn’t been cleaned. Very likely just an oversight as the rest of the room was very clean, but it wasn’t the best welcome.
Good location and truly beautiful, breathtaking views. We drove around the island but found the view out our window one of the most stunning.
It’s very worn and grandma chic. We had to put our jackets around the door frame because the draft coming in was so bad. Beds were not comfortable and we were traveling with kids during the holidays with limited restaurants and/or eating options, a fridge and a microwave in room would have been ideal.
Great traditional hotel in fantastic location, great food, superb helpful staff, comfortable room
sofa in sitting area of room was a sofa bed & not that comfortable to sit on, more large cushions on which to sit would help
The location is remote but peaceful.
The property is in need of repair and the rooms are not well looked after. In our room, for example, the toilet seat was broken, which seems a gross oversight. The staff were most unfortunately, the most discourteous and helpful I have ever encountered in any hotel stay.
I loved revisiting a past trip. Just as good as the previous visit, eight years ago. The room was beautiful looking over the loch, timber lined and generous in size. I ate at the bar each night and had the three best meals I have had in many a day, certainly the whole of my five week trip. Hats off to the chef! My dietaries were accommodated without fuss and every meal was truly a delight. I’m a real foodie and cannot believe the quality. The staff were great all round from the bar staff to the breakfast team. A shout out too, to the New Zealander behind the bar. Really knew her stuff and was very attentive. Highly recommended!
A very small niggle - I would have loved to sit in the sitting room by the fire but it was not stoked and barely alight both times I went in, and staff kept opening the door to the hallway which just meant all the heat disappeared. It didn’t feel welcoming in the evening when it would have been lovely to linger after dinner. And I would have loved a repeat of fireworks on the edge of the loch on 5 November, but appreciated the realities of insurance!
Very nice hotel in a great location on the quiet southern part of the Isle of Skye. Our room was nice and big and comfortable with a view of the water.
Location is beautiful and although the hotel looks dated in some of the pictures it’s actually very tasteful and cosy. The food was fantastic!
The location was stunning, the staff were lovely lovely and the room was excellent- despite a powercut we had the best time The breakfast was brilliant and everyone was really friendly. We really appreciated your use of Gàidhlig, especially on the doors & the word of the moment at reception was a nice touch.
I have nothing to add here
Beautiful location - Good food .
Little ridged on meal times.

Beautiful setting. Welcoming staff. Very nice dinner menu.
Breakfast was underwhelming. Not a lot of the buffet left by the time we sat down for breakfast.
