Pros +
- lovely grounds
- We loved everything! The staff were incredibly helpful. We were hiking very early and staff arranged to have coffee and breakfast for us. Above and beyond The food was delicious and the hotel itself is beautifully appointed. The rooms are spacious and clean. The grounds are delightful with a pool and a sauna and even a walking trail along the water. Loved hearing the ocean at night. Highly recommend
- The welcoming team and everything from the park at dawn to late at night just a pure delight for the senses thanks to the owners and founders signed Boris the Parisian guy
Cons -
- far from town, no a/c
- the hotel equipment is older, I would rather rate it 3 stars, there is a lack of maintenance
- The staff, especially at the reception, was rude and just wanted to get rid of us and our questions as fast as possible. The experience during check-in was something like: here is the key, there is your room, the rest of the information is in the room, now leave me alone...The next issue was the cot we requested for our 1 year old son. The cot was installed in the room with the bed linings and everything except that the mattress for it still had its plastic cover with the sheets just put on top of that (imagine the experience of sleeping on a plastic mattress...)

the place on the cliff is beautiful, the bay for swimming by the ocean is nice

The property is located on a cliff with a nice view to the ocean and has a nice garden/restaurant and a path to go down and swimm in the ocean. The food at the restaurant was good though it was hard to find a table without a reservation.

Location of this property is what makes it stand out. Beautiful pool area overlooking the natural pools below. The restaurant area is also really nice as well as the food that they serve. The staff here are also super friendly despite being so so busy every day.
Unfortunately we could never stay here again unless something serious is done about the dampness. It could have just been our room that was badly impacted (19a), but I have never experienced dampness like this. There were water stains on the wooden floor, the sheets were damp, towels were damp, and the humid smell was over powering. By the end of our four night stay even our belongings and backpacks had become damp, and we washed most of our things when we got to Terceira. To add to this, the room is clean to the eye but it has not been properly cleaned; this goes for bathroom areas, floors, the small kitchenette sink. Something I was also disappointed with was the fact that the hotel doesn’t provide take away breakfast for people climbing Mount Pico. We were arriving late and climbing the following morning and the hotel just simply wasn’t helpful or accommodating in providing packed lunch or breakfast (that we were willing to pay for). Climbing Picinho is one of the main attractions on Pico - it’s surprising that they have no interest in providing this service. Also to be noted that this is a not a property to stay in if you have mobility issues - too many steps and stairs that are steep and badly lit in parts at night. It could be hazardous.
Very beautiful hotel composed individual buildings inside a park along the rocky coast. Also the external part of the restaurant is unusually beautiful. The food is excellent and staff is very friendly. Parking available on the premises and also just outside. The rooms are spacious and nice (but also see comments below).
This is not a four-star hotel: the reception hours are rather limited (7:00 - 18:30), no air-conditioning in the room (only a fan on the ceiling), very simple plastic chairs to sit outside, tiny TV screen. Cleaning is also far from perfect: cobwebs behind the TV screen, the plastic chairs outside were all very dirty and some were covered by a green kind of moss (which grows quickly because of high humidity on the island). The pool area (some distance away) also has dirty chairs and the swimming pool itself is in need of repair. We liked the hotel very much and hope to come back next year to an improved hotel.
The location Is stunning, both for the view and for the entire complex which is inside a tropical garden/forest extremely nice
Rooms needs bit of renovation. There is a small smell of humidity but you get acquainted to it after some time to time. Mattress are not too much comfortable
The location, the access to the sea, the garden, the restaurant.
Old rooms (very, specially the bathrooms), old facilities. Hard mattress.
We stay in the suit and it was nice and big. The grounds are beautiful. The food in the restaurant was good. The downside was, for some reason, in the evening and there was no one to complain. The hotel staff stopped working at 8.....
The location is superb and the property is lovely to walk around. The restaurant is very good and has a lovely atmosphere outside under the trees.
The hotel is a bit dated and the rooms are fairly basic.
Incredible location, nice little bungalows, restaurant on the property.
The room decoration and beds need some improvement. A room with modern materials would also probably be less humid.
AMAZING HOTEL! Staff was super sweet and the location was beautiful, we were sad to leave because we would have wanted to stay here for a week! Room was impecable and cosy, facilities were amazing!
Nice setting and cosy houses, attentive staff
The owners and staff very accessible and helpful. Having stayed many times over the last 15 years, I brought my friends this time. In town-convenient by walking. Great views. Laundry service. Studio with kitchen upgrade. Camilo’s shop nearby. Hot water. Clean.
Nothing. Parking was not on-site but very close.
A beautiful hotel that is part of its surroundings. Very nice hotel grounds and great atmosphere. Quiet. Beautiful terrace for dinner and breakfast. We liked our breakfast and dinner.
No airconditioning, but there is a fan on the ceiling.
Great location, with stunning view. Unfortunately, they seem to be lacking employees in the restaurant, and the swimming pool would deserve some cleaning.Otherwise, we had a nice stay !
The receptionist Joyce was so nice and helpful, also the hotel is located on a beautiful cliff with access to the sea! The restaurant has tasty food and wines for a good price.
The beds are horrible, if you have back problems you should not stay here. When we arrived the girl in the restaurant was annoyed that we wanted to make a reservation, and the pool has very outdated chairs, it is not comfortable to stay there a whole day/afternoon. This hotel needs some adjustments and then it is perfect.
Interesting concept. Nice location. Good breakfast.
The venue is quite isolated, far from the main city, Madalena. We tried to get support to arrange transportation to the hotel but our messages were ignored. We had to arrange everything ourselves and never got any excuse from reception staff. Disappointing for a pretending 4-star hotel.
All the complex is super beautiful and has an amazing view to the ocean. The restaurant has a superb quality.
The mattress should be improved.
