Pros +
- A perfect stop-over during our road trip. In a quiet village setting, adjacent to a large lake and nature. The superior rooms are immaculate and the evening meal in their gourmet restaurant was a pleasant surprise.Everybody slept well, which is unusual in our family, so the quiet area and comfortable beds did the trick.Be aware that the hotel rooms are all upstairs with no lift access. Our disabled son is small enough to carry so it was not a concern for us and we were aware of this before booking. The restaurant, bar and reception has ramp access and the staff were all very polite, welcoming and accommodating of our need for wheelchair space at the dining table. The breakfast was more than sufficient to set us up for the next leg of our journey. We did not have the time to enjoy the surrounding area too much but would consider this hotel for future longer stays when exploring the region.Merci Le Cheval Blanc

- The hotel was in a quaint quiet village - given the time of year there was no one around but I imagine once the weather warms the streets would be full of life. Situated very close to and around sites of Le Lac du Der, largest man made wetlands in Europe. The room was lovely and clean, beautiful crisp bed linen - slightly on the small side when walking past the end of the bed to the bathroom but adequate for a stop over on route home which ours was. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. We booked into the restaurant for our evening meal which was absolutely delicious. As we were the only residents that night it was good to see other locals eating there too given this was the first night open since closing pre Christmas. The area looks amazing for outdoor walks/cycling/ bird watching so we would definitely be interested in coming back to discover more in the warmer weather.
Cons -
- Room was a bit small. Overhead shower led to water all over the floor in the bathroom as shower cubicle pretty small, but used the handheld shower head and that was better.
- Our room was small but adequate.
- room got a little hot overnight, couldn't seem to work the aircon properly.

This is the second time I visited Cheval Blanc at Giffaumont and on both occasions dinner at the restaurant was excellent. Reservation in advance is necessary
The restaurant was good with excellent wine choices. Friendly staff.
Our room was small but adequate.
loved location near the lake with easy walks to do right on the doorstep. The bar area was cool and inviting. The restaruant was great, excellent food and service. Parking was easy to access and felt secure.
room got a little hot overnight, couldn't seem to work the aircon properly.
Pretty hotel.in a delightful location. The staff was very accommodating even with our late check in request. The rooms were clean and we were greeted with a good breakfast in the morning. Overall, very satisfied with our stay and we will come back.
Very good. breakfast, great selection of food. Good location near the lake, easy car parking, plenty of room in Hotel car park.. Evening meal was excellent. Staff were pleasant and helpful.
I would have liked to have warm milk offered with coffee in the morning. I like milky coffee and if I use cold milk the coffee is too cold. I am sure that if I had asked the waitress she would have given me some, but I didnt as she was busy and not often in the breakfast room.
Excellent breakfast, great selection of breads, jams, cake, eggs, ham and lovely cheeses. Pleasant location. Very good evening meal which we really enjoyed. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
Would have liked warm milk with our coffee. I am sure if we had asked for it we would have been given it.
The staff and the dinner, also the breakfast.
The super noisy extractor fan behind the house (only on during mealtimes but still) and the flaking paint and temperamental shower in the bathroom.
Hotel was fine, bedroom was a little on small side but food was exceptional. Having now returned to the U.K. after spending four weeks in France, I feel this was the best food that we experienced on our holiday!Staff were brilliant, too.
Nothing. A larger bedroom would have been preferable.
The restaurant was excellent, the food and wine were amazing, the staff very attentive and friendly. A beautiful setting.
The room was completely incongruous with the appearance and excellence of the restaurant. Very dated and tired. The shower room was very much in need of an upgrade. The room did have a lovely view out onto the small square.
Absolute treasure of a place!Excellent location, perfect room, terrific helpful staff, magnificent dining experience!Perfect!Thank you!

The welcome and staff were very helpful. Everyone was very friendly. The rooms are functional. The food was something else. To say it was superb was an understatement. The flavours were fantastic, and prestation exceptional. The service and guidance on what we were being served was brilliant. Thank you so much to all the staff.
Beautiful area, it’s very close to the lake. Good breakfast. The hotel is pet friendly.
Room was tiny and furniture a bit outdated. They should have mosquito screens on windows, we left window open and by the evening our room was full of flies.
Wonderful host, very clean, exceptional chefs. Will be back.
The restaurant was absolutely stunning, food, drinks and staff. Dinner and breakfast. The accomodation was more ordinary but good.
Just one very small complaint. Our bed, room 205 was a bit hard, but the rest of the family room 107 was very comfortable.
lovely hotel in a quiet area.
