Pros +
- The room was clean, warm, and reasonably appointed. The bed was comfortable without being unduly soft, with a nice duvet and extra pillows. The bathroom was sufficiently spacious for a single man. The men at the reception desk were courteous and friendly, if not overtly outgoing nor pre-emptively helpful (i.e., they checked me in and greeted me with a smile at each passing; but, I did not ask them for information or advice, so cannot speak to their expertise in that regard). The location is excellent with respect to both accessibility and as a base for exploring the Centrum: it was a simple walk from the train station, being located on the station-side of the Centrum and just across the outer (first) ring-canal; and you can easily walk the entire old city from the hotel, find groceries and supplies and banking very close by, and even stroll up to Schothorst park in nearly a straight line (with a zigzag around Sint-Joriskerk). The presence of the tower makes it easy to navigate back from wherever you've wandered without paying much attention to where you've gone: just look for the spire and head back to it! The primary detraction is the noise: if you're looking for a quiet location to relax, this is not it. You'll be above a busy entertainment and market square, and the windows are surprisingly thin, such that everything happening in the square will sound like it's in your lap. Gregarious and loud reveling continues in the square until 0300 on weeknights and 0530 on Friday (during mid-November; later in summer?) and morning preparations (moving chairs, assembling tents and vendors' structures, leaf-blowing, etc.) begins around 0800; with the tower chiming every half hour all night long and accompanied by tunes from its carillon, on the half-hour, starting at 0900. If you're sensitive to such noises, getting five hours of sleep could be considered a very restful night and around three hours not abnormal.

In the very center,
Very noisy, not enough cleaned, not comfortable beds
The location is fantastic, right smack in the middle of this gorgeous old city. The square with many cafes right next door. Friendly welcome. The room was perfect for us, tasteful, practical, not big but big enough for us. The bed was very comforatbke
Well situated hotel. The room was clean and comfortable.
We didn’t know we had to ask for the room to be cleaned, so we didn’t.
Amazing location, friendly staff, nice clean rooms, and comfortable beds!
The agreed check-in time was unfortunately modified without me knowing prior to my arrival.
Close to shopping and restaurants
Would have been nice to know that you had to pre-book for breakfast. Small room. No fridge, no milk for tea/coffee.
We stayed for four nights which is longer than an average stay in Amersfoort. We had expected to take a day trip to Utrecht but in the end there was too much to do in the old town. This hotel is in a great spot for sitting and joining in with the crowd in the main tower square for evening drinks. It is a very good situation to the rest of the town's beautiful buildings to wander around . The room was very comfortable for the price and had a fridge, which is often unusual in budget hotels. There was renovation in other rooms, but this didn't affect us . A very comfortable and enjoyable stay
The location was great.
When we arrived we had to ring a bell . Then a man came from another shop came to assist with our checkin. The hotel was very small. Only our luggage and one person would fit in the elevator. (4ppl in our party). We had to hold the button to our floor. Otherwise, it would not go. Our beds in our room were very narrow and small and could feel the springs of the mattress while sleeping. Shower was difficult to get in and had several cracks that was held by tape. Our TV did not work and electricity went out at night .
Location was right in the square by bell tower. Lots of life and perfect location!
They overcharged me when I paid on site and would not charge me the booking price… this was not ok as it was in Canadian dollars but they charged same amount but in euros which almost doubled the price for me…
Great location, good sound proof windows. 24/7 access through the lobby
Located in the middle of the city over looking a bustling terrace area with bars and restaurants. It was still quiet on an evening so sleep was easy. The staff were super helpful and really accommodating, they went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. I will use this hotel again
Clean convenient and friendly and helpful staff
Lift was a little rickety
Great location not too far from train station and in the centre of the city. The proprietor was welcoming and accommodating.
Noisy outside on a Saturday night with many late night resellers. We couldn't eat breakfast at the restaurant next door as it was never open when we were told it would open.
location
no tv uncomfortable bed … felt the springs
Eerlier reviews complained about the noise from outside. We definitely heard a lot of noise from outside, but when we closed the window, we heard almost nothing! I guess they did a good job fixing that.
Dont' know, my stay was too short to notice anything that could be better.
The staff was very helpful and let us store our bikes inside at night.
The location is great, but the restaurants outside are pretty busy and loud having the window opened. The shower did not work poperly.
Clean and comfortable hotel in perfect location to explore Amersfoort.
Good location and with a view of the tower.
Room a bit dusty and a wet towel used to hold the door open when we arrived.
It's worth the money (for Netherlands context ) + the strategic location
the old elevator was a bit scary, but it worked fine
