Pros +
- Monika, Nina and the team are incredibly attentive, courteous and instill what can only be described as a northerly Gemuetlichkeit. The room and common areas are tastefully appointed, not to mention the fresh bread, muesli, and fixings for breakfast.
- Wow, what an opening for our trip. We found the hotel by searching for a room that fits 2 adults and 3 kids, Luckily there are not many options so it made it easier to find this hotel. This is a boutique hotel with 7 rooms only, every furniture and accessory in the hotel was selected by the owner, which has a lot of experience and has amazing design vision. The family room was created this way so it will fit the owner's own family when needed, meaning -> think that the room is designed by yourself by the highest standards. The breakfast was amazing, everything was handmade. Great atmosphere and the owner gave us very good recommendations for our visit in luebeck.
- Excellent breakfast. Nice area. Friendly staff.
Cons -
- Really nothing. Just that any hotel after this one will be a downgrade :)
- The top floor is up some pretty tricky stairs, and it's a bit difficult with a small child or a lot of luggage. The staff is helpful with carrying luggage up the stairs, though.
- It is expensive, but it's worth it!

Excellent breakfast. Nice area. Friendly staff.
Very unique and beautifully renovated place. Breakfast was served at the table and homemade. The location is brilliant for Christmas Market.

The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was stylish and cozy. The breakfast was homemade and personally served. The staff was very polite and helpful. Everything was just excellent. We can only highly recommend this place.
Perfect location, delicious breakfast, spacious rooms, beautiful design.
Wonderful location in a beautiful city. The renovation of the building is perfect - glimpses of the past with all the comfort of today. Because it's a small property, you can feel the love - in creating this gorgeous hotel, in the delicious home cooked breakfast (omg, the bread!!) and in Nina's care that all her guests feel comfortable. If you are going to Lubeck (and you should go to Lubeck for the town itself and the incredible Hansa Museum), I highly recommend you stay here!
It is expensive, but it's worth it!
We loved everything about this stay. The staff, the surrounding, the breakfast, the interior and the atmosphere. This is perfection. We really wish that Hotel Die Reederin had more locations over the world.
The breakfast was incredible, freshly baked bread, amazing coffee, great service and nice products. The place was nice, the decorations. We clearly do not know how we could make it better. It is clearly the best breakfast we had in a long time.
There is nothing negative we coud say
The hotel was perfect. It was a great location, walkable to everywhere in Lübeck. The rooms were spacious, exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Each room was named after a ship in the former Reederei. I asked for, and received, Catherine which was the name of my daughter. The owner/Reederin and her staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable. Knowledgeable about the entire area, we got wonderful tips about what to see and what to avoid along with great restaurant recommendations. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh baked bread every morning and delicious coffee and cappuccinos. I would definitely stay there again and highly recommend it.
To be honest, there was nothing that could have been better. If I need to find one very tiny thing, it would be this. It would have been nice to have some tissues/Kleenex/Tempo in the room but now I’m really grasping to find something. The place was great.
The hotel was absolutely PERFECT!- It is location very near the attractions but in a quiet area- Each floor the hotel has areas that the guests can use: a nice lobby, a reading room, etc- The hotel is beautiful decorated with a lot of attention to details. - The room was super spacious and the balcony was amazing- The breakfast was AMAZING and service was super nice.
Everything was amazing!! It was such a warm, friendly, family-like atmosphere and hostess. The service level was a 10 (on a scale frm 1-10, ofc), and the room was really awesome! We loved the history of the place, the many many small spaces where there was room to relax and enjoy oneself, whether it was for games, drinks or reading a book - all in very classy settings. And the proximity to everything in the city was an absolute bonus! Highest recommendation, and we will definitely book again next time we visit - unless we've sold it too much with the recommendations ,and they will be constantly sold out?But I cannot go back to Lübeck again and stay at any other place.
Absolutely nothing
This small hotel îs wonderful. With a lot of care for details, nicely decorated but also practical and very clean. Breakfast was lovely, with good quality products and a bit of regional flavour. The host Monika is lovely and offered us good tipps. A place to come back.
This is a hidden gem and a beautifully restored old townhouse that dates back to 1790. It is within walking distance of the historical areas and a quiet, peaceful place when you are returning from a busy day of sightseeing. Monica and Nina are so attentive to every need and, even at breakfast, remembered our preferences from the day before. Anyone traveling to Lubeck should consider this their destination hotel!
Really cute boutique hotel. Was an old shipping company office, converted into a small hotel. Rooms are large and well designed. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing - fresh made breads, homemade granola, etc.
This is a truly excellent small hotel. From the generously sized room, to the tasteful renovation, warm service and great breakfast, we loved our stay. We especially loved being immersed in history at this truly Hanseatic house. Even the reading room and tea kitchen had plenty of books about Lübeck and it’s past and every nook, window, decor and room detail was thoughtfully redone. Special shout out to Monika, for her authentically warm service. We highly recommend “Die Reederin”.
Very stylish small hotel and very welcoming management. Family room is wonderful if you're traveling with kids. We definitely enjoyed our stay at Hotel Die Reederin.
Almost everything about the place is great. It could be however useful for the guest to have minibar prices in a visible place.
This place is spectacular. Attention to every detail. Perfectly renovated. Super good taste. Personal service, even breakfast was unique and home made in every aspect. Wowwwwwwwww.
Nothing. This place is worth a visit in itself. Someone who cared a lot built this hotel. It is not like anything else I have seen. Even showers were unique, made with parts from shipping containers. Spectacular play on the old days when the building housed a shipping company.
A truly great little hotel. Here's what I especially liked:- The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed. The bed was huge and comfortable, and large windows flooded the room with light. There was a big bathroom with a decent shower. The hotel only opened in 2021, and there are little touches everywhere that reflect the building's previous life as the offices of a famous local shipping company. The blend of that history and modern comforts is seamless.- The location is excellent. The main street is less than a five minute walk away, with lots of shops and restaurants. Buses to the station and to the beaches also stop just around the corner. A hundred metres from the hotel front door - literally at the end of the street - you can catch a 90-minute cruise to Travemünde- The staff and the experience. I think this is what really made the trip to Lübeck special. From the moment my fiancée and I arrived, we were treated like the whole hotel was there just for us. Check in was a drink and a chat in the lounge. Nina and her staff were friendly and super helpful - they made sure we had towels for the beach, recommended restaurants and even made reservations for us. In short, a great room in a fantastic hotel, and the service was even better. Stay here if you're in Lübeck!
This was such a beautiful stay. The hotel has just opened after a fantastic renovation which has done a great job of retaining the old but combining and adding a modern contemporary edge.We were meet on entering the hotel by the lovely staff. The check in process is not your normal counter experience but a comfy sit in the lounge area instantly making you feel at home and at ease. Helpful and lovely throughout our stay. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The breakfast was fantastic - not your normal buffet but individual serves beautifully presented.Great location to walk and see the sites of Lubeck and close to a great variety of restaurants. We were the first Australians to stay at the hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending it to other Australians and travellers.
