    Cons -

    • The hotel is old, the rooms smell bad. It needs an update
    • In the rooms: We were surprised to have amenity provisions for only 1 person (example toiletries; only 1 bathrobe; 1 washcloth, etc) despite booking a Suite as a couple. Most 3 star hotels even provide 2 sets of towels for use in rooms that sleep min. two. We had to request a 2nd set of each as needed. The dining food quality was just ok. We ordered the featured steak dishes on our first night and both arrived with promise, sizzling on platters! But, both steaks tasted exactly the same, even though supposed to be different animals, and in both cases taste was bland and meat tough.Additionally, when we went to enjoy the Spa facility, even though we had booked in advance our couples massage, there was no one attending the Spa center to greet us or provide us robes or towels. The reception desk was unattended and we had to help ourselves to towels from the shelf behind their welcome desk. The massage/facial center, clearly operated by a 3rd party, had our reservations in their system so were available to provide us that service as expected. But for the rest of the Spa area, including the steam, sauna and pool areas, we were on our own and had to call for assistance to activate some of the facilities (like to get the steam room ready, or to turn on the hot tub jets, etc as the master controls were out of sight), as we were quite on our own the entire time. We didn't mind the private experience, but just wanted to mention that it wasn't what we expected, and it did give the impression that these services are not frequently utilized/provided, etc, so it made us question if the sanitary standards were up to date as well. But, in the end we did have a good relaxing experience amidst the quiet, and appreciated the staff whenever we did interact with them!
    • The view from the suite was really nice, but there was a column/wall that covered 1/5 of a window. I miss the other location that 'Camino Real' had at the center of La Paz city. That was exceptional!

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The breakfast buffet was quite standard upscale hotel, with fresh fruits and a cook to order eggs station ,but nothing exceptional or nothing to complain about. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable.

The coffee and the 'marraquetas' were delicious every morning with fresh and seasonal fruits. The breakfast had so many options! All the services were absolutely great! At 'Camino Real' you feel like at home. The staff is respectful, friendly and professional.

Excellent hotel in nicest part of La Paz. Very reasonably priced for what it offers. All rooms are very large and comfortable, with spectacular views of this amazing city. Staff are efficient and friendly, and the in-house taxis are excellent.

The ambience in the restaurant needs improving - it is very harsh and cold. The food is variable.Better quality bathroom soap/shampoo etc would be appreciated too...

Breakfast was very good, except for having to get up to have to get my own coffee every time. I'm just used to waiters serving customers coffee at their tables and later refilling.

lunch & dinner menu didn't change. We were there for 2 whole weeks and no change in food choices.

The restaurant, I got sick with the food at the Tranquera restaurant, I had a very bad stomach and the trout is not from Lake Titicaca... Not recommended!

This hotel was absolutely fantastic, the facilities are great and it's super comfortable which was important as we were coming into La Paz from sea level so the altitude had quite a large impact. All the staff were brilliant but Luisa in particular was fantastic. Would highly recommend and definitely stay here again.

    Nothing, it was great.

    8JeanniePosted on: 9-24-2023

Breakfast: Good selection. Juices, hot drinks, fruits, cereals, yogurt, baked items, breads & waffles, cold meats, cheeses & bacon. Eggs cooked to order. Fresh, & well presented.Enjoyed the pool, sauna & steam room.

It's a shame the hotel doesn't have a separate comfortable lounge/bar area with a piano player playing soft music/jazz. At the moment there is only seating at the reception & a tiny bar with limited seating at the end of the buffet.

Breakfast was good and I liked the location near the Cable Car. I was suffering from altitude sickness and they quickly provided oxygen tank. Nice selection of teas in my room.

No heat in the room so cool but had to figure out how to turn on the heat.

Nice location, with big rooms. Good breakfast and helpful staff.

    9JonathanPosted on: 4-12-2023

Excellent 5* hotel in a nice part of La Paz, right near cable car terminal if you need to get anywhere. Huge comfortable rooms.

Reception staff messed up booking.com reservations and are somewhat inflexible and inefficient
