Pros +
- excellent breakfast with gorgeous views and very kind servers
- The staff were great, always helpful, friendly, and ready to go the extra distance to help with our needs. The breakfast staff were great and the food delicious.
- The hotel staff are all so helpful, thoughtful and extremely polite. My friend and I stayed at the hotel twice during our trip to La Paz and also upon our return from Uyuni Salt Flat. I have the most comfortable stay during my trip to Bolivia. And it was made possible by the wonderful team of staff especially Belen and Angel. They are exceptional! When we had to take a very early flight to Uyuni, Belen made sure that we had our breakfast prepared so that we could take it with us on the way to the airport. And we had a very nice dinner at the restaurant too and the staff are all very lovely and warm to us. The housekeeping team did a great job too in delivering high standards of making the room very neat and tidy. The location is unbeatable being right next to The Witches Market, and you can find lots of nice restaurants and shops and with easy access to the cable car station nearby the hotel. The hotel has really exceeded my expectations and making my La Paz moments super enjoyable!
Cons -
- Nothing not to like.
- Shower drainage was not good. They offer a day rate but it is not competitive (I stayed 2pm-9pm to freshen up between my overnight buses) and it was cheaper to pay for a full stay on booking.com (not sponsored). Team is very rigid on the breakfast rules and politely refused to give me a takeaway breakfast box because I was leaving before midnight. Traffic can be bad due to location though (leave VERY early if you’re taking taxi/uber especially if you need to make it to a bus/plane)!
- We booked a city view room and got a dark room with a small window that overlooked the back of the hotel. Very dark room. Suggestion of additional charges if you damage furniture (which was extremely cheap quality with painted surfaces that were not protected.

Lovely hotel in the tourist area of La Paz next to San Francisco church. Tea available all day in the foyer .Nice outside area with some sun beds . The restaurant was very good.
The team is very kind and the hotel is a beautiful building. Hotel restaurant is very tasty and the complimentary cocktail is delicious. Very close to witch’s market and the church which was the starting point for my walking tour.

Breakfast on the top floor with great views

My wife and I stayed at La Casona in La Paz this week and had a wonderful experience there. Not only is it located at the heart of the city, and not only does it have such a joyful and comfortable architectural design, but also it has the best staff who provided the superb service to its customers and made them feel at home. We highly recommend La Casona as the place to stay in La Paz.
location, staff, and service
Wi-Fi not reliable
The family room was very spacious, new and comfortable. Employees were all great. As well location, if you like to be in the center of the city. Both of our sons had Food poisoning and vomited all over the room. The room was promptly cleaned. We though the hotel would charge an extra fee for cleaning, but didnt.
The only strange thing were the eggs on the breakfast. The employee never said we could order eggs. The second day I saw someone orderding and asked for an omelete. When i ordered another one for my son I heard the employee saying i should pay an extra.. There was a limit of eggs per guest, but the lady corrected him as we were in a family room and could ask for one more. After that episode no more eggs.
Comfortable hotel located in the centre of La Paz, within walking distance to museums, cable cars and the main square. Comfortable and clean with coco leaf tea available to help with the altitude symptoms. Also prescription medication available in the room to help relieve altitude sickness. Packed breakfast for early flight was helpful. Reception booked an airport taxi but had no information regarding tours and guides.
It is at a very noisy junction, but our room was at the back of the hotel. Breakfast is quite basic but plentiful. Hotel restaurant was poor.
Friendly stuff, central location.
Poor quality of some food served for breakfast . Hot dishes like sausages. fried ham and vegetables were always cold. On 27.8. milk was old and spoiled and after eating small fried balls of minced meat I got a very bad food poisoning with all unpleasant consequences, which complicated my holiday.
The staff is welcoming and extremely helpful, the rooms are big and clean and the restaurant has very good food. It is a beautiful historic oasis of peace in the caos of La Paz traffic.
La Casona is the best choice if one needs to stay at central location (or rest and get acclimated to altitude). It's very clean, but the charm is in the property itself. It is like a giant old villa, but excellently preserved. Interesting to explore within the hotel, see various artifacts, or just enjoy the terrace.Rooms are spacious, clean, have good hot shower, safe, well restored wooden floors and furniture.Separately, I am greatful to the managementl for resolving a certain towel matter in my favour (staff accused me of leaving dye spots on it after my departure). The lady who translated the incident very graciously handled it. Without her, I wouldn't have been able to defend myself.
For all three days room heavily smelled of chemicals (possibly cleaning agent). All towels are quite old, thin, and yellow-ish. Strange for a boutique hotel.
The hotel is located in a very historic building, and we really liked its museum-style interior. The view from the breakfast terrace is just breathtaking. and it's very close to the historical attractions (within a walkable distance).
it was really difficult to sleep due to the noise from the street. someone was shouting (maybe advertising something or whatever) from 10pm to 3am at least. it was extremely annoying. Also, we didn't like the food in the onsite restaurant, just in case.
Some great staff on reception and concierge.
Facilities ok only . Oddly grudging management directions eg we were charged for a broken wine glass and reception staff are told to rush up and check room on departure - unable to give a reason why . For a higher end boutique hotel this is something we have never seen , anywhere .
Breakfast was on top floor, great range of food and drink options, small balcony outside to view the city.Location within easy walking range of the "tourist quarter".Staff pleasant, helpful and efficient.
Street noises at night when trying to sleep
Good breakfast with eggs, bacon, pancakes as well as a good selection of breads.Comfortable and warm bedsConvenience of an attached restaurantLocation is ideal for exploring the colourful markets, taxis readily available outside but the hotel will book for you if needed.
Only one extremely small radiator in the bedroom so overall quite cold when not in bed.
Beautiful old colonial building, very helpful and friendly staff.
The bed was uncomfortable mainly because it was far too mobile, slid around the room every time I got in or out.A lot of street noise as well, even in the wee small hours.Welcome drink was not very inspiring....I would have rather just had a beer!
Very nice rooms and very quiet, although on the main street. Very friendly staff, especially Angel. Very good breakfast in the top floor. Very nice bar with good drinks. We can recommend this hotel.
Great location. Friendly… helpful staff. Nice … unique facilities.
Breakfast was average …
