About

Formerly a forester's house dating from 1906, this charming, refurbished hotel is surrounded by a game park the Koblenzer Stadtwald Forest just outside Koblenz. Enjoy a peaceful night in the countryside in one of the Waldhotel Forsthaus Remstecken's comfortable rooms, all of which feature a TV. In the mornings, a delicious, complimentary breakfast buffet awaits you, providing a great start to a day spent admiring the animals in the game park or exploring the forest. Koblenz city center is around 5 miles away and the Old Town holds many cultural attractions, such as the famous Deutsches Eck. Throughout the day, the Remstecken's restaurant offers a range of French and German cuisine, as well as game dishes from the local hunting grounds. Afterwards, why not spoil yourself with a tempting pastry or ice-cream. During the summer, guests are welcome to enjoy their meals, snacks and refreshments outside on the terrace.

    Pros +

    • It was a beautiful house in the middle of the forest! Also the breakfast was lovely.
    • Location was premium. Out away from the city with hiking, a deer refuge, and very accommodating. We had an extremely talented young chef that was doubling as our host. Concierge, and cleaning staff. He was exceptional.
    • No-one at reception when we arrived. Difficult and very lengthy to find someone for check-in service. Overall very friendly personnel. Cute, quite crowded / touristic place in the woods.

    Cons -

    • There was a horrible smell coming from the bathroom. It smelled like sewage. And the shower barely worked. The water was extremely low pressure and barely got warm. I think because it’s in a tucked away location they must have some issues with their plumbing and sewage. I was planning to stay there a few nights, but I cut the trip short and just went to a Mercure in town because of the smell and the water problem.
    • There was no elevator and would not be suitable for those with mobility issues. But we were aware of it in advance.
    • Quite basic room equipment, especially in the rest-room / shower. e.g. no hair dryer, no free WIFI access code proposed. Quite noisy neighbors.

Location is fantastic, room comfortable and clean and food is great - coffee and cake when we arrived, meal in the restaurant and breakfast.

    Nothing to think of.

The staff is super nice and Kind. They are always ready to help and in a really nice and kind way. I requested additional services that where not included and they didn't even charge me for that.

For the prices is really good, nevertheless I must say is a bit just a tiny bit out of touch. A bit too old fashioned, I mean it's meant to be like that, everywhere wood and so on it helps with the cosiness but some details like the lightning in the rooms is really strong and white or almost blue light, I think they are some details which are probably very low cost to change and would make the whole experience a bit more pleasant, just needs a touch of renovation.

    Good location in the woods

Apathetic and inattentive staff (except for the Muslim lady). Very hot room. Highish prices for unimpressive food. Animal enclosures seemed sad. Place starting to look tatty.

Wonderful place, we enjoyed the trails and wildlife. We were placed in one of the new, very modern rooms, but would have been just as happy or even happier in the older hotel.

Great quiet location in the nature, big and clean room, parking available, few minutes driving from Coblenz

Breakfast can be improved with more variety of food

They put a babybed ready in the room withoutme haacing to ask. That was really nice of them. They were verry helpfull the location waw great, the room very big.m, the beds were nice.

The food in the restaurant was expensive and really not good!! The room was nice but could have been more cleaned (there were dead flies on every windowsill), the smell of the restaurantkitchen came into our children's bedroom... The staff of the restaurant were not friendly, did not try to explain anything.

Location is wonderful. In the forest with deer and wild pig station around. Calm. A nice break from the fast working world. Very friendly staff. Tasty supper.

The property is tucked away from the main road down a tiny track in lovely surroundings. It has ample parking, old charm and good food. Breakfast is good too. If you want to explore the area there are loads of walks and Koblenz is only 10 minutes away by car.

    Nothing comes to mind.

Lovely forest location. Perfect for our dog walks. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

Property is in a beautiful place, we had our dog staying with us and we really enjoyed walking around .

    Beautiful location

Restaurant closed with no notice. No food for miles Pillows on bed were terrible and towels stiff and rough. Internet was sketchy at best. Had to be at other building to get a clear signal for WhatsApp calls. Staff a bit unhelpful.

    8AlisonPosted on: 9-22-2023

Wonderful location. Nice rooms with views of forest/deer park. Hourly bus link to Koblenz- 15 min journey. And handy for Boppard and the Rhine valley. Great breakfast. Evening meal was good, though if you aren’t used to game, avoid the pickled venison- very strong taste

Quite echoey upstairs so doors opening and closing were very loud.

    5DenisPosted on: 9-17-2023

The surrounding with the deer park is nice. You can feed them. It could have been a nice location for visiting Koblenz or hiking in the surrounding woods. Breakfast is decent.

Although open for business, the restaurant in understaffed and could not accommodate people inside, all guests were served on the terrace which is unpleasant on a cold September evening. Managed to get an inside table after some insistence. Food was good but quantities are small. Prices are on the high side. Parking lot is a bit far away, which is inconvenient with large bags. No lift/elevator.

Lovely location and relaxing and scenic, nice food and friendly staff.

    8DmitryPosted on: 8-20-2023

The location is in the nature, wonderful! Easy to find and easy to park. The outside space is very relaxing and beautiful!

The keys to the room need to be upgraded.

The area was just what we needed

The hotel was locked and deserted when we arrived. Having found someone to finally let us in, they had to call someone to check us in and get a key. No staff, no restaurant no bar. After a long drive, very disappointed

It was a beautiful building in a lovely location.

No signs to get you to reception but other than that, it was all great
