    Pros +

    • Location was amazing. The room was big and spacious
    • The hotel is situated in the center of Nijmegen.
    • Bath/bed room were very spacious. The room was quiet. Had a balcony. All basics were there. Modern hotels these days lack space, tea , coffee, windows view. This old-fashioned hotel provided all of that & we enjoy our stay.

    Cons -

    • Room was not serviced on one of the days which meant we had no coffee or clean towels the next day. Reception was usually closed.
    • The maintenance is outdated. The rooms were described as soundproof but we heard guest coming back to their room in the middle of the night. In the bathroom you could hear other guests conversations without any trouble. The room was entirely covered in dust. The sheets had brown spots. We expected more.
    • It's a bit odd not to see any reception. Not at check in, check out or in between. Sending us a bill after check out I found also a bit out of place. Eye for detail from housekeeping is missing; two broken lights, dirty bathtub, white stuff on the carpet dust on the lamps and tables. I don't mind to much, but if there would be reception & eye for detail it would be perfect. However once again we did really enjoy our stay

The age & history drew us in. What a beautiful old building with warm luxurious rooms.

Location was great. Lots of shops and restaurants near the hotel. The room was very comfortable and clean. Check in was easy, and the staff were courteous.

Not much, except the key card stopped working after hours, and I was locked out for a while. I called the hotel staff and they helped promptly.

DON'T wake up your guests at 7.30 by walking into the room

Had a staff member in my room at 7.30 in the morning for no reason. Kept me from sleeping a total of 3 more times. He went into the hallway of my room twice more to apparently access a storage room. Shouting over the hallway, making calls with someone on speaker phone (I could literally hear every word he was saying). Horrible way to start your day. Baffled at this experience and unprofessionalism.

The location is great - it is located very centrally, near lots of interesting restaurants and shops. Easily accessible from the train station (about 10 minutes walk). There is a Nespresso machine in the room, and although the capsules provided are some different brand, it is still better than instant coffee.

There is nobody at the reception in the mornings, so if you need anything you cannot be assisted. The doorbell rings to a phone, and when we used it to communicate in the morning we were told we would have to wait until 2 when someone comes in.We had arranged for an early check in (12:00-13:00) which was approved via email but nobody had informed the staff. We were lucky that the employee happened to be there earlier and could, indeed, let us in.Our room was tiny. I have stayed in small rooms before and normally that is not a problem, but the arrangement was quite bad and we had trouble moving around, even with two people. At the same time, there was wasted space which remained unusable. The door to the bathroom did not close very well and was made of blurry glass, which unfortunately allowed one to see the occupant of the bathroom reasonably well - no privacy! The lights were also not particularly bright - several lightbulbs were nearly dead. This made for instance, putting makeup on difficult when it got darker. The TV was very temperamental, and on the second day kept restarting on its own when we were trying to watch. The room was also not particularly clean. It was not vacuum-cleaned well and one of the pillowcases was dirty, including some hair from the previous occupant. We were told (a bit sternly, in fact) that we should make sure we put the little sign on the door regarding whether we would like our room cleaned in the morning or not. When we tried to do that in the evening, it was nowhere to be found. Since there was nobody at the reception in the evening or for the entire morning, we had to improvise a sign by writing on a napkin. The creamers for the coffee were also extremely old, to the point that they had gone almost completely solid in the sachets.

weather was warm and sunny, ideal for a vacation. The coffee was excellent, and the staff were attentive

Small hotel in great location. We had cycled 60 miles to get here. I had emailed ahead to ask about bike parking and was told there wasn't any. However upon arrival they let us put our bikes at the back of the Lobby which was really helpful. Our room was large, with lots of space. The hotel has no restaurant, but due to its central location there were plenty of options nearby for dinner & drinks, as well as breakfast. Perfect for our needs.

The lock on our room door was broken, it looked like someone had tried to force it before our arrival. The hotel was unaware of this. Seeing as we just had very smelly cycling clothes with us, and my friend and I are both rather big, we did not make a big deal of this, especially as the front door to the hotel is locked after about 6PM.

Being close to the city center was a big plus. The staff were always friendly and willing to assist with directions and recommendations
