Pros +
- I like this place very much, also due to the liveliness of the location. Some people might not like the noise associated with the commotion around the pubs, there. Also, there might be some rooms which are not facing the street. ... Staff was particularly helpful.
- Awful. Only window in room covered in pigeon excrement and feathers. Size like a jail cell
- Great location in the heart of the historic district with a convenient parking garage to close by.
Cons -
- If you’re in the unenviable position where you’re considering staying in this hotel: No. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid. AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Do you absolutely have to come to Nijmegen in the first place? Avoid. This place will give you nightmares.
- Nothing…
- The room is too hot, the vegan dish plate consists only of cheese and is way to expensive

Great location in the heart of the historic district with a convenient parking garage to close by.
Nothing, The staff at the checkout they was so roud and she tried to kick us from the cafe because there is a smoking smell so they said that’s us but we wasn’t, the place is good but the staff was awful…
Nothing…
The location is perfect, the staff is nice.
The room is too hot, the vegan dish plate consists only of cheese and is way to expensive
It's in the city center. A lot of cute restaurants and stores around.
Music is toooooooo loud at midnight.
Location and they manage to help you even with short timing and limited capacities
We can’t buy breakfast at the last moment and we have to say it from the check in moment
Staff at the bar was very friendly, quick and efficient.Great knowledge and skills.
Room as small as in jail.No air conditioning.Filthy pigeons right outside, smell of pigeon fecal matter, gross just plain disgusting.Cheeky old floors.More like a closet than a room for ridiculous price.Drunk guests shouting and howling, kicking doors and being obnoxious. That hostel needs security there to kick them out if their are too intoxicated.Heat, bad smell and noises made this my worst experience ever via booking.com I've stayed in various places (hotels, aparthotels, apartments, villas, motels and hostels) around the world over the years but never had all issues all at once.Owner shouldn't leave entire business to poor kids working hard in the bar.Security should be out there all night then check how people behave in the rooms.I think if not lovely bar staff I would've left asap, pigeons will be reported to gemente and environmental authority, they spread diseases and poo all over. What a loonacy to call this a hotel?Soft scam I say.
The location was excellent and the staff was very nice and polite.
The bathroom needs a little renovation.
Great location downtown Nijmegen.
Very noisy during “the march week”. As there are music concerts on all sides of the hotel.
It was available
Not easy to see in between the cafes Check in at the barFood took far too long (order fries, just fries!)
The location is amazing IF you want to be on the main sqaure in the center of the city. We did enjoy the proximity and convenience to everything but it did get very noisy on Saturday night until very late in the night. If you are a good sleeper, then that will not be a problem. Light sleepers or those whose goal is to rest up might be better off in a different location. Staff was super friendly. Breakfast great. Bed very comfortable.
Noise level late Saturday night.
It was very central
Our room was located in a niche, where there where about 7 pigeons at all time, one with a nest. They made sounds the whole time and the windows aren’t isolated so you could hear them. The window in the bathroom didn’t properly close so this wasn’t helping the noise. Furthermore there was an old pair of socks in the room. When speaking to this about 3 different staff members they shrugged it off and asked as if we wanted earplugs and if we tried to scare the pigeons away. They also said every room in this and the other hotel they owned were booked, which is hardly imaginable on a Tuesday, as we didn’t see or hear any other guests. At check-out we where asked if everything was fine (?), and we elaborated (once again) on the situation and the lady just looked at us puzzled, not knowing what to do but also not offering any kind of reduction or other service.
Breakfast was good and the staff was really kind. Location was also amazing.
The room was overall so uncomfortable... There was no place to hang clothes and the bathroom looked really different from the ones I saw in the pictures and it was really old... It is definitely not a 3 star hotel...
Staff were lovely a friendly, wonderful building, breakfast was great value, & love the commitment to the peacock!
The hotel is in the Grote Markt, best location in town. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was also very good. The bathroom (shower and toilet) were quite new.
The beds and linens felt run down. There was a lot of noise from the pigeons in the alley behind the hotel. The windows did not insulate the noise.
super location
the bathroom is separated from the room by an escape corridor.the bed linen was not fresh. I couldn't tell if it was because it wasn't clean or because it was fluffy and not "crunchy" enoughthe window could not be closed properly
I didn't take breakfast in the hotel
The facilities in the room were very poor. The room was depressing, the bathroom, whilst providing clean towels, was in a very poor state of decoration. The bathroom window frame and sill were dirty, this was due to poor state of paintwork. No soap was provided to wash hands, this meant having to use the gell in the shower, which was bolted to the wall, to wash hands in the sink. The bed was comfortable.
Very nice staffExcellent coffeeGreat location in the city centre
I had a 'room with a private bathroom'. I didn't realise that at the time of booking, but the bathroom was just not accessible directly from the room, I had to go out of the room and unlock it with the key. I was all the time afraid that when going to the bathroom I forget the card to open the room, and that I remain outside. It was just really inconvenient. The first night it was very cold, later they switched on the heating. Also 270 EUR without breakfast for just two nights, for a room like this, it was just way way too expensive.
Hotel Pauw is Brilliant! A change in itinerary afforded an extra day in Nijmegen and the Hotel Pauw had availability at the front end of our reserved stay. The location is amazing - right in the cafe's and central location was very convenient for our explorations of the area, the dining, and night life of Nijmegen. The staff - each day and each shift - were so very pleasant and accommodating - from the cafe at morning coffee - to the delicious meals and fantastic beers and drinks. Breakfast was typical - which is very good - muesli, juice, croissants, incredible muffins (my son mentioned his pleasant surprise with the muffins), amazing cheese (of course, where are we), and comfortable ambiance. The room was comfortable and quiet and very clean. Shower and linens and overall room was tip top. We loved it!
