Best Western Hotel De France

Room was quiet. Location was excellent with several very good restaurants in the square. Close to elevator to fortress, where we spent two hours going through the well set up exhibits.

We are in our 70s and did find the stairs a challenge to get to our 3rd floor room. Travelling in late October, we found some of the places closed.

Centrally located in old town within an historic building . Clean comfortable rooms with modern conveniences . Small sitting areas are provided throughout the hotel to relax . In fact The hotel was a labyrinth of levels , rooms and little seating areas and decorative niches. A nice open air lounge area was within the hotel . The staff were simply superb!

Nothing . But there is no elevator . If that is an issue book rooms lower down.

We spent only one night at Chinon and the hotel was perfectly located next restaurants and cafes. The rooms were great and spacious. It was very comfortable and quiet. We had a great stay and would recommend it.

Worth noting theres not an elevator and there are a lot of stairs and steps. It was not a big issue, and staff was very helpful with our luggage, but worth having it in mind.

The proprietors were extremely helpful, especially with parking during a busy summer weekend. It's in a great location in the center of Chinon, with restaurants in the plaza underneath the hotel and a wonderful bakery nearby. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent.

Be forewarned--there's no elevator. And the standard rooms are a little small.

Great location. Period features. Room 30 family suite was ideal for couple with two kids in separate room. Breakfast was excellent quality. Parking nearby and 2 EV chargers in public car park.

Noise from the inner courtyard as guest returning after dinner had a chat and drink. They finished by 1030/1100.

Fantastic location on a charming square filled with restaurants and very close to a parking area and the lifts up to teh castle. We were given a very warm welcome by the staff and our room, though small, was perfectly clean and had everything we needed for a night.

Instructions for finding the hotel could be clearer: I had to ask at the tourist office as the hotel was half hidden behind trees and restaurant umbrellas. We weren't very impressed by breakfast: the selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts etc was poor, it took a long time to clear tables, there were no plates or glasses when we first got there and I had to ask a member of staff to fix the coffee machine. Maybe it was a timing thing, as we came after a large group, and it was about 9.00am on a Sunday morning, but we felt it could easily have been better.

Hotel is in the center square of this beautiful city. Roma the man running the hotel was incredible, he was kind, thoughtful and very helpful to two senior citizens - a wonderful, lovely experience in a beautiful hotel in the center of the city.

17th century building, right on the main square of town. Terrific location, staff was very pleasant.

Through the booking.com site, it stated that onsite parking was available. Upon arrival, while we did have a confirmed reservation, we did not have a reservation for parking. (the onsite parking was very limited) This required us to find local street parking for the night, and its possible overnight charges. (Staff was helpful explaining this) While this was not the case for us, I feel the booking site could have made it clearer that a parking reservation was required separate of our hotel.UPDATE ON THE PARKING: Through booking.com I received an email directly from the property, asking me if I'd like to make a parking reservation. As it was in French, and I was already into my trip, I did not bother to read it. Had I done so, I would have learned that a reservation for parking was necessary.

Lovely welcome from the staff, room fresh and very clean. The location was great and overlooking the square was very atmospheric. We were not bothered by any significant noise, just background chatter of people enjoying the facilities which we found pleasant. Breakfast facilities were clean and well organised and offered a good choice. We would not hesitate to stay there again and would recommend it to others

Nice spacious room.

Staff supervising the buffet breakfast failed to top up some items when they ran out - for example the milk fruit salad and croissants.

Amazing stay, Chinon is such a nice town. The staff is lovely and very helpful.Great roof terrace to enjoy evening drinks.

Beautifully decorated rooms, clean smart bathroom. Fabulous breakfast and really friendly, helpful owners.

We were in Chinon for an event at the restaurant next door to the hotel, so the location was convenient. The staff were professional and friendly. It was a basic room and bathroom, just what we needed for a very short stay.

the only thing we didn't like was the music in the breakfast room. it is intrusive and unnecessary and seemed particularly inappropriate as it was mostly rap and contemporary pop, not a good fit with the demographics of the hotel visitors. I'd prefer no music at all.

Reception staff were all very welcoming and efficient including the canine meeter greeter! The hotel is in a quiet corner of the main square so very little disturbance from passers by or traffic. There seemed to be a much larger selection for breakfast than we ussually experience with several local specialities eg. the house home made yoghurt and the very Chinon tarte des vignerons plus other items. There is ample parking just through the adjacent archway which was free on Sundays and up to 09h00 on other days. From 9 you need a ticket, even for free periods.

Excellent location in the town centre

The room was very small and cramped and as it looked out onto a square with a café underneath, it was quite noisy.
