A/C poor
Beatiful grounds, nice rooms, excellent restaurants, professional and friendly staff.
Nothing to dislike.
Not withstanding the extremely poor beginning at reception, we found the staff to be exceptional. The gentlemen pool-side were perfectly attentive, knowing when to approach without over-serving. Alessandro - is an exceptional young man, but all of these servers were courteous and diligent. Breakfast service and Lounge Bar service also, was exemplary. Housekeeping and evening turn-down, this woman was driven to perform her Job, you could see this clearly in her determined way of walking, one of the hardest working on your staff.
The hostess at reception was inexperienced. It is clear, the focus is capturing guests to spend as much money on-site as possible. This should be more subtly expressed, not within the first 30 seconds of greeting, with menus thrust in one's face and "reservations are required - pick one." Upon check-in, Addya reflexively continued greeting us with an incorrect assessment of our reservation terms. She claimed we were a party of three adults, not four. The booking was clearly documented as 'Three adults and One Child (age at check-in 17 yrs.) She said, 'there is not room for four adults.' NOT WELCOMING.The Cantina dining experience was disappointing. We found the food flavorless, un-interesting and proportionally expensive. I do not mind paying for good food, but we felt somewhat taken advantage of as a 'captive audience.' Wine List was adequate but again, over-priced. Guests should enjoy some better sense of value in at least one of your on-property restaurants. Servers 'auctioned off,' each of our dinner choices, approaching with a plate, asking 'who ordered the such-and-such pasta.' The server should know who ordered what and where to place the dish. What a beautiful destination with definite promise. Unfortunately, the necessary changes must come from the top. Who is in place at reception is of critical importance.
Historic building with great viewsQuiet and wellcoming environmentSuper helpful staffBig rooms
At the booking site.Fantastic stay in a wonderful place! We loved the room, the place and the staff! Can’t wait to go back.Worth to stay at least 3 nights. We stayed 2 and fell so sorry to leave. The manger of the restaurant is 5 stars! The food was great and the breakfast fantastic!
everything was perfect
I had an amazing experience at Castel Monastero. The staff were extremely friendly - as soon as I told them it was my birthday they showered me with surprises including birthday cake and birthday balloons with a bottle of wine in my room! The hotel was extremely clean, breakfast was great. Couldn’t choose a better location for my birthday getaway!
Everything was great!
Delicious breakfast, lovely staff…
My husband being embarrassed, in front of other guests, by a senior member of staff, on “fine dining” night for not wearing trousers..something should have been said discreetly….
I like the old monastery and the integration with the nature. The swimming pool was great and the staff kind. Food was good.
The lack of electrical charger although advertised which forced us to go around to top up
This castel is beautifully restored and interior tastefully designed.
unfortunately, the service didn’t match the price of our stay. from grumpy restaurant managers to our dining experience in the ‚fine‘ dining restaurant what this resort aspires to portray doesn’t match up with reality, price-performance is a mismatch. the service needs serious improvement.
A lovely historic building. Staff in the restaurant were kind and professional. Welcome arrivals was great
The pool area was a real shame. Didn’t feel premium at all. Umbrellas worn, no covers over the chairs, not well maintained paving. Didn’t like the floating floors inside our room nor the decor especially. Didn’t meet expectation.
First of all the staff was wonderful! The room was great, the spa, the breakfast and the pools. Everything was wonderful!
Very good
The manager of the breakfast could use a smile. He was very serious all the time, quite unpleasant to look at. Specially in contrast with all the other members of the staff that were really nice and smiley.
The views, the rooms
Unfortunately we had beetles in the first room
Loved property, stylish, chic, great courtyard breakfast. Enjoyed swimming pool garden, very quiet and tranquil to relax.
Attention to detail for 5 star property/price of b&b could be improved. Eg kettle In every room. I have marked value for money based on dining experience already given to hotel. The Al a Carte looks stunning but equally has to offer customer experience to feel satisfied for the high ticket price/value and dishes available. I would recommend the cellar restaurant offers a greater selection available.
The location is goodThe historical building is nice
Reality is not according to pictures on the hotel website especially for the rooms. Our « garden view » room had a view on the car parking. I asked to visit other rooms including the suites which clearly were not recently renovated. The pools are ok but are not fantastic. Prices for extras are incredibly high: 25€ for an apérol spritz! - same prices than in the most expensive palaces bars in New York or Paris but clearly not the same standing. Overall prices are similar to a 5 star hotel but it does not have the standing of a 5 starDisappointing. I would not recommend that hotel.
The Monastery is a wonderful place, the SPA and swimming pools are really nice and I think this is what saves the place.
The fire alarm went off at 04.30 am and the staff could not stop it before 6am. While safety is really important there was nothing to report and the staff did not come to give the 20+ people in the courtyard any guidance or tell us we could go back to our rooms (not mentioning it also happened the day before in the afternoon). Some guests even tried to sleep by the pool to avoid the noise. The staff or manager did not apologize for the inconvenience or even offer any kind of compensation. We basically had to negotiate at the end of our stay to get a 20% discount as we barely slept that night. The restaurant was quite expensive and honestly tasteless for a 5 star « leading hotel of the world », we had the fish and lamb and would have probably cooked it better ourselves. The cocktails were over priced, we paid 20€ for a non alcoholic cocktail basically mind + water (oh and iced) 25€ for a mojito but that is more standard for this kind of place
Fantastic Location with beautiful surrounding views. Breakfast each morning was fantastic with a great variety of food to choose from. The staff upon check in were amazing and the lunch/dinner service was superb.
The bed was a little uncomfortable and the rooms were a little bit of a let down for the price.
