Onomichi Royal Hotel

The view was remarkable! The people who staffed the hotel were so friendly! We could not have been happier.

The only thing that I didn't like and it is a small thing. The toilet is very very small. Other than that this was an amazing hotel.

The location of the hotel was great approximately 10-15 minutes' walk from the train station and close to restaurants, cafes and shops. We were really glad we went to Onomichi - lots on offer with an overall great vibe!

The room was tiny but apparently not unusual for many Japanese hotels - it certainly was interesting to experience this, but glad we were staying for only one night. With not a lot of accommodation available in this comparatively small town, however, I would be prepared to stay at this hotel again.

The hotel is in a good location in the middle of town. It is a nice hotel, but a bit on the older side. There is a Japanese breakfast (no buffet) and the staff is very polite and attentive.

We probably booked the cheapest room because it was very tiny and the window was quite moldy and occasionally leaked water. From walking through the hallway, all the other rooms look very nice, just don't take the cheapest option.

The room was clean and spacious. Good location for attractions and had great views.

I booked this hotel to experience sleeping in futon on the floor, but some people might have hard time sitting on and getting up from the floor.

Beautiful looking, free amenities, the restaurant was amazing!

I don't understand the bad reviews about the hotel, we were family of 5, had a big Japanese room, which was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom was also clean, the station is 15min on foot along the sea. Would definitely stay again.

the room is unbearably tight, no place to open the luggage, double bed is pushed against the wall so one person has to climb over the other to get to the rest room which is also very very tiny

The location was good, with a nice sea view. The room was comfortable, although a little bit dated looking in places. The room was clean. The Japanese breakfast was really good. The staff were friendly and helpful in arranging the 'takuhaibin' luggage delivery service from this hotel to another location.

I didn't like that the hotel lobby was a building site, and I actually walked past before I realized where the hotel was. Obviously this is a temporary situation. The reception had been relocated onto a high up floor which was a little inconvenient, but worked ok.

Great location for starting the island bike ride route. Staff were warm and welcoming upon arrival.

A small double bed is very small, compounded with it being against a wall on one side. The hotel also had a distinct smell of industrial cleaning products. Great for one night.

Great location, in the heart of Onomichi! Short walking distance to convenience stores, ramen restaurants and the famous Onomichi walking/shopping mall.The staff were very kind and helpful, providing maps and places to rent bikes for the Shimanami Kaido.The room was cosy, had Japanese TV and the beds were clean and comfortable. I also enjoyed the humidifier/air purifier.Great place to stay for people wanting to go cycling or try the famous Onomichi Ramen!

The airconditioner had mould in the vent, which was alarming. So beware those who need to use the aircon.When using the shower, the shower curtain blocks off the light, so it's pretty dark when showering.Underneath the bed were left over slippers and lots of dust.The peep hole has no lid, so a ray of light is always shining through from the outside.

The hotel is a little old but they clearly renovated part of the furniture recently. Staff was nice and polite, and it was clean. Location is unbeatable.

Location was ok

We all got bed bug bites! We booked 2 rooms for 2 couples. Both parties had terrible bed bug bites in the morning. The staff was a little weird. They made us check the room keys in when we went out to grab a bite.

In front of Onomichi Uminoeki.You can watch your boat from your room.

The hotel lobby, lift lobby, and room are clean, looks renovated. Definitely not as negative as those older reviews said. Toilet and shower are clean too. Room is at a good size. Good value for money.
