Pros +
- Lovely staff and meals. Appreciated the free use of snorkeling equipment. Amazing location with shell filled beach just across the small road
- Beautiful location with view of Maehama Beach and Geruma Island. Wonderful staff and gourmet meals!
- The property is on the water’s edge, just across a quiet public lane. There are only three rooms, of minimalist design but cosy and comfortable. Each room looks out onto a little pool that is very well maintained. Our hosts, Masashi and his wife, were delightful and could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The small staff were just as lovely. Masashi is an experienced snorkelling guide and has lots of local tips. You can also borrow snorkelling gear at no charge. Both breakfast and dinner when we stayed were Western style food and just delicious. They will serve you on your verandah or in the little dining area. Dinner was accompanied by free-flowing drinks (starting from 5.30pm for happy hour!) including a very decent Australian Shiraz and Chilean sparkling wine,,The rooms have a small fridge, hairdryer and lots of electric sockets. The bathroom has twin sinks and a shower. There is actually an open air bath for each room on the roof, where you can sit and enjoy the view whilst bathing! Boiling water for tea and coffee is available from the little reception area - no kettle in the room. All in all it was a fabulous couple of days on this quiet, beautiful island. Highly recommended.
Cons -
- Couldn't figure out the a/c, mattress not the most comfortable.
- The beds were a little soft for us but that’s just our preference.
- The price is too high in comparison with what we paied during our trip in Japan. The place is remote so you’d need to stay more than 1 night, which is challenging with this price, even if we came off-season.

Everything was amazing, the view, the room, the food, the service.
Unique and unforgettable experience. One of a kind accommodation on an island of 230 people. It is not for those that are looking to party or nightlife with big crowds. The setting is very personal and intimate. We have no complaints. Our host went above and beyond for us and we would stay here ten times over. If you're looking for something secluded or a once in a lifetime experience, this is the place to be.
We absolutely loved our stay here. The location was great with beautiful views of the beach. The staff were so lovely and helpful both before and during our stay. They provided an excellent guide on snorkelling around the island and also lent us snorkelling masks and wetsuits to use. The food was also delicious. We would highly recommend staying here!
The staff is very nice, came to pick us at the port, and took good care of us. The view from the room is amazing and it’s 2 mins away from the beach.

Fantastic location. Good snorkeling in front of the hotel. Great food. Wonderful staff and amazing night sky from the roof.
Blue Suites offered great views, a great room, beautiful night views - we saw the milky way at night. Dinner was amazing, breakfast was decent. Staff was also very friendly and helpful.
We found the price slightly , but it was overall a good experience.
The location was amazing! Beautiful view and we could sit outside and be out of the sun and rain.
Heaven on earth ? great location, staff, food and views. Paradise!
All staff were extremely friendly and communicated well with us. They came and picked us up and dropped us back to the ferry. Rooms were tidy, there are only 3 which we didn't know so that was a real bonusThe pool was fantastic and the only one we encountered on our 3 week holiday in Japan. The beaches were great and the sealife was topnotch. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay and it had to be the best place to stay in Aka! The food was fantastic also. Highly recommend
Nothing. This place was fantastic
The property is a small ( only 3 rooms) building facing the beach that has a slightly contemporary feel compared to more traditional guesthouses in the village. I love minimalist buildings , my kind of place. Cool but with a friendly laid back feeling.
I honestly cannot find any fault , will definitely be coming back.
The staff were incredibly sweet, picking us up upon arrival, offering us coffee and juice, and a place to store luggage until check-in. Both the 4 course dinner and breakfast were delicious. Unlimited drinks during dinner too ;) The room was simple, cool, and very clean.
The cost was a bit pricey, leading us to only book one night.
The service was good and warm, the room was comfortable, the food was Deilcious.Best view close to the beach.
I always fear giving recommendations for our favorite little hotel because I don't want it to become too popular! The owners are amazing, and the stay is always comfortable with beautiful views and delicious breakfast and dinner included. We stay at Blue Suites once or twice a year to have a getaway and enjoy the diving and nature on Akajima.
There is nothing I did not like. The owners and staff are so kind and helpful and the beds are comfortable. The little pool is lovely for relaxing.
The breakfast and dinners each day were delicious and freshly cooked. The hosts were extremely nice and accommodating, from always re-filling our glasses to picking us up from the ferry port. Aka Island was a beautiful getaway, and the lodging was the perfect place to enjoy it!
This is one of the most incredible places I have ever stayed in the most incredible setting. The hosts were incredible people I felt so welcomed. The booking includes breakfast and dinner and each meal was sensational, such niche and intricate dishes which really stimulated the palette. The island was a sanctuary, so peaceful, with wild dear roaming around, hardly any tourists and the most stunning beaches and viewpoints. I would highly recommend staying here, it was very much worthwhile.
The view from the room is amazing. The owners and staff were all very helpful, sweet and serviceminded. We loved the warm bath on the roof.
- amazing food (breakfast and dinner course)- clean and comfortable room + swimming pool to use any time- extremely kind staff - 10 meters to the beach
A bit too expensive
