International au Lac Historic Lakeside Hotel

This is an amazing hotel in the best location, beautifully decorated, oozing with historic charm while maintaining a high standard of luxury, comfort and style. Breakfast was sensational, the garden area & pool delightful and the staff were tremendous.

The historic building and location

The carpet in the room was a bit cheap and gross and the bathroom was not nice.

this was an excellent stay. Everything about it was wonderful. The food, the coffee, the room, the pool, the staff- all fantastic! I will be back!

Breakfast was great. Bed was pretty comfortable and shower was nice.

Got placed in the room closest to the Lobby Bar which wasn't ideal for someone trying to get a good night's sleep. Noisy until 11p-Midnight.

Location and lake view rooms. Breakfast was excellent with many options. Parking is available with cost. The hotel management upgraded my room to lake view.

Outdated interior, but its all functional.

It’s a beautiful historic hotel that’s extremely well maintained.

This place was like staying at Stanley Kubrick's The Shining Hotel; and I mean this in the best way possible. From all the mysterious hallways of artwork to the amazing antiques to the ability to grab a drink at the Honesty Bar and wander around the hotel's own museum (!!!) I thought it was a place with so much history and stories. And for folks that stay in the warmer months, the amazing gardens and pool in the back is such a bonus. Also, I have to say - this was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had (from fresh figs to homemade baked goods to the waiter who brought an entire pot of coffee and milk to your table on order), I was delighted (and it's included in the price). To top it all off, the hotel staff are wonderful and helpful. I had a wonderful time and would love to return!

Great location! Just across the lake, next to the historic church, next to the bus stop, near many shops and restaurants and wonderful staff especially the young lady at the front desk.

We had a wonderful view of Lake Lugano with a balcony with chairs and table but paid many Swiss francs for same. We expected a more posh experience, considering all.Staff was mostly pleasant and helpful, particularly at Reception, but one server at breakfast was rude for no reason. We think that he was a poor representative for the hotel since we made no special requests at all, just coffee. Ridiculous behavior when we paid $US 500/night for a panoramic view of Lake Lugano and what we would expect as polite service. Sad.We paid for parking, and it was very convenient. We thought the public rooms on the first floor and the garden on the second floor welcoming and pleasant.We would not return.

The hotel did not meet our expectations.

Spectacular location and history. The view of Lake Lugano from the balcony is beautiful. The breakfast buffet is varied and of high quality. The breads and a sweet cake were particularly tasty. Fresh fruit was offered. Many choices of meats and cheeses, as well as eggs were available. There was a table overlooking the lake in the breakfast room, which was a nice place to enjoy the full breakfast. The waiter was a little brusk.

The walls are a little thin- can hear talking from next door rooms

Excellent breakfast. Best location. Very easy underground parking just beside the hotel. Clean room with beautiful decoration. Comfortable bed and pillows. Friendly staff.

Value for money.

The location is great, close to everything, walking distance to the train station, the hotel is very close to the lake. We arrived early so they kept our baggage until we did the check in at 3pm. The staff was absolutely professional and helpful.

Clean, quiet, and comfortable.

Great location on the lake. Small but clean, modern and well kept rooms and bathrooms. Very good breakfast in a large dining area.

Iron could have been provided in the room. The shared ironing room was a hot and dark storage room next to the main hotel building.

Wonderful location, attentive staff, excellent room with enough space for my children. We loved our family room and will miss it.

This property was on par with luxury resorts it had a lot to offer including excellent customer service, cleanliness, and amenities.

The breakfast was good. We were lucky enough to be there for the Swiss National Day of fireworks. We got to watch the fireworks from the balcony on the first floor. Made for an exceptional stay.
