Hotel Zurigo Downtown

Very comfortable, clean, and convenient. Rooms were very comfy, beds very nice as well as bathroom. Nice little breakfast in the morning. Warm and friendly staff especially the hotel manager! Great location convenient to everything in Lugano!

Location close to a Christmas market

Fortunately only 4 of the 5-6 unmarked parking spaces in the bushes ($34 Euros please) were taken in front of the hotel.

Room was smaller than I had expected, and felt a bit cramped for the 3 of us.

Staff person at the desk pleasant and helpful. Hotel well maintained and updated - our room at the top of the building had been completely renovated. It was at the back of the building so traffic noise which has been mentioned not an issue. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the waterfront and the shopping area.

The location was was close to the pedestrianized center of town and the staff were helpful. The lobby/common area was a bit lacking but the room excellent-very clean and comfortable. Breakfast which was included was delicious and appreciated.

Friendly helpful staff. Not that far from the train station for walk ability. Would have been more helpful if you knew that you needed to take a funicular down from train station to town/hotel level just for the fyi—less stress. Hotel is in a good area and near anything you need/want in the pretty town and the lake area. Hotel was clean. Breakfast was good.

Tiny room. Awkward to move around. Bathroom needs upgrade.

Good location, friendly staff, 2 bottles of water every day, complimentary wine at arriving, very clean new bedding, a good balcony with a table and chairs.

No hair dryer, a very small mini-bar, no hooks in the bathroom to hang towels.

Bus station is just outside of the hotel; hotel provide free bus ticket and very good breakfast

The location was great for the train, bus, downtown and lake.

It was very generic, and unimpressive. It was so surprising to pay $200 on a weekday and feel like you are in a 2 star hotel. Very small room with poor quality bedding and towels. The hotels are so expensive in Lucerne, it’s hard to want to return.

This is a perfect hotel for a visit to Lugano. Very centrally located, it provides excellent facilities. The staff is very friendly. Overall a very nice experience and I would definitely recommend the hotel to anybody visiting Lugano.

If I really had to mention something negative, I'd say that probably the breakfast could offer a bit more in terms of variety of options (especially the sweet options typical of an Italian breakfast). But this is really a minor aspect as the options offered were anyway very good, and considering the price and location of the hotel, this aspect did not bother us at all.

The location was the best. Food was okay. Serving at breakfast is nice.

Although we did understand that it is a three star hotel and accepted the fact that there are also better or premium rooms, the cleanliness could have been improved and our stat could have been more comfortable. It was okay, not dirty but the cleaning staff could be more attentive with the cleaning as there were strands of hair on the mattress, the floor and in the bathroom. Also the duvet, bed covers, pillow covers were visible worn (even if they were washed) - a new set or upgrade would be necessary. The pillows also were torn and wore out. Now, we could have talked to the receptionist but we didn’t, as we found it difficult to communicate in english and feared we wouldn’t have understood ourselves. Also, one suggestion: some ambiance (music) at the breakfast area could be a good idea and bring a nice touch :)

Very central location. Really friendly for dog owners without disturbing or limiting any other hotel guest.

Simple and essential

The room was very expensive... there was no real lobby, just a desk for check-in. Most of the towels in the bathroom were frayed and grey. Duvet covers had been put on the wrong way round. The room was very noisy. The breakfast room was functional, but had no charm or atmosphere.; a lot of the food seemed stale, the juices seemed powdered. The whole hotel was without ambiance. Definitely not worth the money It appeared making as much money as possible in the cheapest was was the the hotel's mission statement..

Great location, friendly staff, and excellent value for money, especially given the typically high Swiss hotel rates. Sure, the building's a bit outdated, but let's be honest—we weren't expecting the Four Seasons! :) The breakfast was quite decent considering the room price, with nice coffee and incredibly kind staff. Overall, a simple, basic, and clean stay that exceeded our expectations for a 3-star hotel.

Location excellent; across street from main downtown bus station and upscale neighborhood with restaurants; blocks from great park on Lake Lugano; room nicely rehabbed

Super comfortable room and great location. We had a good surprise of room, a champagne and with the balcony, we loved the hotel.

Breakfast could be better with more options and our Frigobar in the room was not working properly.

Noisy at night. The breakfast was extremely disappointing with little choice and only the cheapest products. Even the coffee was bad. It felt like a cheap hostel and it considerably diminished the overall stay. We thought we were paying a bit more for a good breakfast included but this was not at all the case.
