Hotel Le Saint Gelais

Great hotel in a perfect location to explore Angouleme. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the accommodation really nicely done.

Beautiful building and setting .. easy to park .. comfortable large rooms. Only 10 minutes walk to the centre of town (it’s a hilly town so be warned!) Quiet and never heard any other guest despite being full. Could have stayed longer that night stopover. Great that dogs accommodated including in breakfast which was delicious.

It was unexpected- a small bit of park/country in a busy town. Great restaurants - good breakfast and wonderful reception staff.

I should have loved a bath!

The location, parking onsite and outside space were perfect.Breakfast was exceptional.Staff helpful and friendly.

The crazy bathrooms as mentioned by previous guests. I understand they’ll be renovated.

Location is great, easy walk to town center. Pool was nice as well, extra points for conditioning which was very nice ( and also not common ) considering the extremely hot weather. Receptionist was very nice and patient ( I speak very little French ) and was accommodating.

Lighting in the bedroom was a little odd and shower sprayed onto room floor unavoidably as all in one room.

The bed was comfortable, the room clean and quiet.

The area of town around the hotel looks neglected. The breakfast was overpriced. The extra charge for charging my electric car was very excessive.Although the design aspect of the hotel’s interior was striving to be chic it became idiosyncratic and eccentric. The extra charges made it a three star experience.

Only a single night stay but all facilities and staff including restaraunt excellent.

The shower was not great and the water leaked on to the floor

Nice boutique hotel, centrally located. Free parking. Ground level room with direct access to garden and pool. Very nice breakfast area. Friendly service.

Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed, But we were warned beforehand. As it was off season, dinner in town was a bit of a let down.

The pool are was great although I think the garden area needed tidying up a bit and a bit more attention. Close to the old town. Restaurant very good and staff helpful.

The bed was comfortable but the pillows like cardboard. The decor looks very outdated... and the bathroom more of a washroom with a show curtain separating bedroom from bathroom

On arrival we were given an upgrade. The room was really spacious. Nice views overlooking the garden. Really comfy bed.

The shower was designed without a door, which resulted in water all over the floor, which could have been a slipping hazard. The bedroom carpet was badly stained

We unfortunately chose nights when the restaurant was closed and it was a steep uphill walk to the bars and restaurants. However it was all downhill coming back!!!

Excellent welcoming staff, central location, secure motorcycle parking (pre-requested), very comfortable accommodation.

Comfortable good sized room. The pool was smaller than it looked on the photographs but fine. We had a good dinner in the hotel restaurant.
