    Pros +

    • Clean, nice staff, beautiful breakfast
    • Very comfortable bed, friendly helpful staff. Great location and pet friendly. A hidden gem, which I hope to visit again.
    • this was our third visit. Room overlooked garden and was well equipped. Dinner was very good with suitable choices on the menu. Bar service was good. Most staff were courteous and helpful.

    Cons -

    • Room safe was basically unusable as it was on the top shelf of the cupboard at the back. Scraped my wrist on shelf edge - you would need to be near 2 metres tall to be able to see into safe. Maintenance staff were informed but nothing happened.
    • Would be nice to have had bottles of water in the room and tea variety was disappointing
    • The room was very poorly equipped to put away and hang clothes so we had to live out of suitcases, in total contrast to two much cheaper simpler hotels we stayed in earlier which had very well organised storage and hanging space and space for wash bags etc in the bathroom. We had only 3 hangers and none for trousers, but fortunately were able to ask housekeeping. Although there was a kettle there were only paper cups - again unlike the simpler hotels which provided glasses and mugs. The paper cups got soggy and were not replenished. .No fridge. The front desk personnel were not always present and there was a side entrance to the hotel courtyard which was not visibly monitored. Indeed we gave up.our attempt to get a drink there. All this discouraged us from trying the expensive buffet breakfast or the cheaper alternative. Lots of local cafes. The hotel seemed geared to conferences and events.

Lovely hotel. Great welcome from Reception, excellent service in the restaurant, both in the evening and in the morning. Our dog was welcome everywhere, especially in the hotel gardens! The bed was comfortable and we were right on the edge of the Old Town of Angoulême.

    Location & Breakfast.

I booked a nice room, got something from the 80's. The room allocated was in an area where repairs were being made. You couldn't get through without getting dirty, good luck with the workers who helped us with our luggage. I think it was in the area where they were staying. I arrived at the assigned room where I found something different from what I had paid for. An old, musty, dirty, dusty, stained, torn curtain, dirty toilet, etc. place. I went back to reception to ask for an explanation. The lady there was trying to convince me that the room I showed her in the pictures doesn't exist!!! I mean, I paid about 150 euros/night for something that doesn't exist. After some discussion, she sent a colleague to show us another room in the "civilized" area. This looked similar to what we booked! This has not happened to me even in less demanding countries than France. The most unpleasant experience! She must have been disturbed by our birthplace, otherwise I can't explain it.

We liked the suite and the restaurant. The location was great, walking distance to the centre of town just a word to say we came from the train station with suitcases and it is about a 20 mins walk up hill. Which is fine if you need the exercise after a long journey in the Eurostar and you are fit enough to pull your suitcase up the cobbled pavement.

The first room we were shown smelt of cigarettes so we moved to the suite. The hotel is having some of the carpet replaced so it felt like we were in a run down part but it was great once we moved.

The location was excellent. We had secure car parking. The staff were very helpful. The room was comfortable.

Good location. Modern comfortable hotel. Enjoyed the glass water bottles and filtered water.

The welcome and the decor. We wanted to change the dates and they were extremely accommodating.

They had however cancelled our booking, there were still bedrooms but in hindsight the price for the bedroom they gave us came out more expensive than if I had booked it on site. The toilet was not proper from bad cleaning and so too much sediment which isn't nice...

Great location in lovely town. Great bars and restaurants v close by.

Bath a bit small if you’re over 6 foot!

Exceptional hotel, great location, excellent breakfast, the staff were brilliant, reception person that helped us spoke great English, breakfast staff were friendly, garden area nice, patio area superb for eating outside, water cooler in the corridor, great 2 story car park underground with easy access.

    Location, room

Prices at restaurant and bar. Far too expensive. Breakfast 20 Euros!! 9Euros for a glass of wine!!

    8StephenPosted on: 7-2-2024

    Very good

The toilet did not have a washbasin and the bathroom was the other side of the bedroom. Difficulkt at night

    7JenniferPosted on: 6-24-2024

The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. The staff were kind enough to let us know in advance that there was a wedding happening but it didn't cause us any problems. The underground car park was a bonus. The location is very central, next to a nice square with cafes and restaurants. As it was busy on Saturday night, we ate in the hotel and were pleasantly surprised by our meal.

The room was quite small and the view at the back of the hotel isn't very interesting. We had trouble finding the hotel because the police had closed the road we should have taken and our sat nav had trouble finding a new route.

Parking on site. Very comfortable bed. The view. The location. The staff were really great. The breakfast was really good. If you like a gin and tonic, get the barman to make you one, you won't regret it!

In our room no milk or selection of teas and coffees. A kettle alone does not work.

Good location, nice helpful staff, communal areas nice.

    Bedrooms tired, bathroom poor.
