Pros +
- location was amazing and the staff could not have done enough for us. They helped with restaurant recommendations and tour companies. We had a lovely stay.
- The historic common room is an excellent place to have an apéro in the evening, and breakfast in the morning. The pool is also a refreshing break from the heat outside. The modern bathrooms with spacious showers were a welcome surprise, but what stands out most about this property is the personable service that puts you at ease immediately. From chilling the wine we purchased for a nightcap, to helping us secure dinner reservations, the staff were helpful and easy to talk to. If we return, we will happily rebook at the Abbey.
- The location was good
Cons -
- The stairs in the tower were an excellent reminder to leave nothing in your room that you would need for the day. They are narrow and medieval, but at least help burn off calories from wine tasting.
- The stairs, especially the ones in our room to get to the bed, which were so steep as to be unsafe. The double room was not even large enough for one person. There was no space to relax except in the bed. We had nowhere to put our luggage and the bathroom was not designed for comfort or practical use. The staff was rude until given gratuity and the property owner brushed off our safety concerns after the unsecured mirror in our bathroom fell on me while using the sink.
- The bathroom mirror is quite small and positioned high with no actual light over the mirror, making it difficult to see when doing makeup. There is a side mirror that can be pulled forward, though, which helps. There is not much shelf space to hold things like rollers, makeup, etc. and very limited mirrors in the room.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff is accommodating and friendly. Our stay was a unique and memorable experience. The hotel represents the quaint town beautifully.

Room: The beds were very comfortable. The view on the rooftops and the cathedral is very pleasant. The bathroom is comfortable and stocked with good quality toiletries.Hotel: The lounge is comfortable and a good place to enjoy a glass of wine.Location: Cannot be closer to the city center.
Room: The room was on two level with a steep staircase in between. Although it's part of the charm of it, I wouldn't recommend it for people with knee issues. No complementary water provided.Hotel: Apart from the lounge, the rest of the hotel does not necessarily gives off a distinct abbaye vibe. The corridors are of no particular interest and there is little to explore. Although it is not a major issue, at times, the furniture can be at odds with the mood of the place (there is a peculiar leopard chair I have in mind).Location: Can be difficult to find a parking in the streets nearby but a larger parking is 5-10 minutes away.Facilities: Apart from the lounge, the rest of the hotel does not necessarily gives off a distinct abbaye vibe. Location, unique setting. The breakfast area is something worth seeing! Not to mention the breakfast itself which is high standard
Very nice historic building. Great location. Warme welcome and in general very helpfull staff. Excellent breakfast.
The room was well appointed and cleanThe location was excellent. Easy drive in and out, as well as lots of restaurants in close walking distance.
Lots of stairs which are hard to navigate with luggage and/or limited mobilityAir conditioning did not work well, had to leave the windows open to cool off the room.
This was my second stay at Abbaye de Maizières and I was very excited to share it with my family this time. The only one room that could accommodate all four of us was the suite "Saint Bruno", and it had two separate lofts, a common living area, and one bathroom. The view is wonderful of the rooftops and the cathedral.
The shower area is open, with no door and the bathroom would get very wet and messy after 4 showers. The bathtub is a jet tub and was not maintained or cleaned very well, there were parts falling off of it and it had an odor when the jets were engaged.
beautiful building, probably the nicest place i have ever stayed.
stairs are treacherous, but part of old building charm. might be a problem in just a few more years for me so might now be for others. really cannot find fault with this place, its staff. etc.
lovely room
the receptionist was welcoming at first, but became unfriendly because we didnt have any cash to give a tip which felt disappointing to us
Everything have stayed many times Breakfast is wonderful. Most Staff are friendly and helpful.
The man at Checkin was rude and if we hadn’t stayed her before we would have be turned off enough to not stay again. However we have stayed here many times and the staff have always been friendly and helpful so maybe this was just “one of those days”
Charming architecture, excellent location, exceptionally well renovated, wonderful breakfast, charming and helpful staff, comfortable beds.
4 sets of TVs were unpleasant and highly unnecessary, spotlights were a terrible choice for the living room - soothing soft lights by the sofa would up the comfort factor, dirty bathtub (hair clogged), a toilet brush would be good.
Great hôtel in thé centre of the old Town next to the cathédral. It is a historical building with terrific ground floor in the medieval style, and at the same time rooms are equiped with all one's need for modern life. There is very good pool. The staff are very amicable and always ready to help and answer all questions.
Beautiful boutique hotel with friendly staff and stunning interior transformed into a hotel from an old abbey. Most everything in walking distance. Charming open air market on Saturday featuring clothing, food, sweets.
Can't think of anything we did not like.
The hotel is in a beautifully converted building in the centre of Beaune.
No parking at the hotel itself, but we did find some nearby. No opportunity to have a drink if arriving late (10 pm), but fortunately, there are bars and restaurants very close by.
Fantastic location close to the Hotel Dieu. Amazing building very imaginatively restored. Room very comfortable with a very well appointed bathroom. Enjoyed the subterranean swimming pool - small but beautifully lit and very atmospheric. Excellent breakfast served in a vaulted dining room. Unique experience.
Bedroom wall were a bit thin. Didn't seem to be a lot of staff around.
Location was great, breakfast and overall presentation of the hotel.
Mainly issues with the room. Lightbulb flickering in the bathroom which we were told it would be fixed on check in but it never did and it got worse. Bedroom layout was terrible, dangerous staircase, “wet room” shower is too small and floods the room.

The hotel was unique, yet lovely and well-maintained. The staff was courteous & professional. We were especially pleased by Betty's exceptional attentiveness & customer service. We look forward to returning soon!
