    Pros +

    • A beautiful hotel in a wonderful location, with a very friendly family to welcome us and take care of us. Could not have been better.
    • We didn’t spend much time, arriving late and leaving early, so I can’t say much about what’s around. But the staff made it easy to get in anyway, and were very nice the next day at breakfast. The rooms were nice and good sized. Breakfast room was adorable-like an old lounge.
    • Our room, on the first floor was comfortable, quiet, and opened onto a beautiful patio in the back of the hotel with lovely landscaped grounds

    Cons -

    • Parking was limited so right, which I suppose they can’t help. I would have preferred a paved way from the parking to the hotel. It’s harder for rolling bags (full of recently purchased wine) when it has recently rained, if there’s not a complete sidewalk to your car.
    • It is clear that the owners are addressing the needs of a historic building in a thoughtful and careful manner. Windows allowed for quiet and comfortable temperature. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. The bed was very comfortable.
    • It’s an old building, but that gives the place it’s charm.

Phillipe, the owner is exceptional. Very welcoming and extremely knowledgeable and helpful regarding the area. Instead of being just another guest, it almost felt like being part of the fanily. Great location ,great value and great people.

Lovely chateau at the edge of the city. The owners did a great job with making us feel welcome. The pool and garden was very nice for the kids.

It’s an old building, but that gives the place it’s charm.

Philippe was amazing. He changed our booking at the last minute, he booked us two amazing restaurants, beds were comfortable, secure parking, great location, great breakfast. We will definitely be staying again. Thank you ?

    Nothing not to like

Philippe was the most helpful hotelier I have ever met. So welcoming at the end of a long motorbike ride. Great advice and local knowledge. He even managed to book us a restaurant at the very last minute. It is a lovely place, a great location, with extremely comfortable beds. I am looking forward to staying there again on our way back from the Alps. Thank you, Philippe. Keep doing what you are doing. See you again soon!

Breakfast buffer was excellent, room was very modern and clean (we were not in the main building)

Shame no restaurant, but easy walk into town

We only stayed for one night on our way home from Cherbourg to Switzerland. We arrived late and left rather early. Didn't even chose to have breakfast. But the house is a nice old building, room and beds where comfortable, there is a large garden to the back and great off road parking. The hosts where very friendly, the checkin by code worked without any problems. We went for dinner at A La Maison, which is easily reached from the hotel. Highly recommended! And Auxerre seems a nice town, we shall have to return.

Since we only wanted a place to sleep, I didn't check the rooms beforehand. Ours was towards the road, next time I would book one towards the garden. The road is somewhat busy and noise for me is a problem. With closed windows it wasn't too bad, but I wouldn't want to sleep with the window open.

The owner was so welcoming and helpful and made us feel very at home. He recommended the perfect place for us to eat that evening. The centre of auxerre is an easy stroll from the hotel and great that hotel offers free, safe parking in the courtyard. Breakfast was good, plenty on offer and a lovely atmosphere in the dining room. We very much enjoyed our stay and wish the owner luck with his restoration of the hotel to its former glory. The hotel will be even better when the work is complete

Breakfast wonderful. It pretty much provided whatever one would want. The hosts were truly caring and wanted to make our experience enjoyable.

The hotel was being renovated because of new owners. I wish I could experience it when they are done.

The charming interior is great. In the summer season you have access to a nice garden. Great for an outside breakfast experience. Also a nice private outdoor pool available with options to relax.

Everything was fine. Particularly the breakfast had various local products to eat.

    9LiamPosted on: 10-16-2024

Quiet, interesting 19th c hotel with great secure parking onsite. Central Auxerre is less than 10 minutes walk away. It makes a great base for exploring the region. Our room though in the attic had a large double French window with balustrade looking onto the nature trees in the garden and another with a fine skyline view of the city. We did not have the breakfast option but appreciated the kettle provided in our room. We would stay again.

The location is superb, the property is a classic French villa of the epoc.

The breakfast was ‘ok’ but could be better, proper coffee, freshly squeezed oranges, it was ok as it was but for €15 it might have been better

    Quirky Rooms

No check in staff after 20:00 hours Very basic breakfast

    7DonnaPosted on: 10-2-2024

The hotel is a well renovated historic building, and facilities were as described. Breakfast was bountiful, and we were sent to several very good nearby restaurants. Within walking distance of the old centre of Auxerre.

The owners were not especially friendly, perhaps because we are not French (although we speak French). Very structured — we even had to beg to have wine glasses for our room, and this in a hotel in wine country!
