    Pros +

    • Quirky hotel - our ground floor room was large and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. An easy walk to the port
    • The location was absolutely fantastic! The directions were very helpful. Although the room was small, the bathroom was a great size, shower was fantastic with lots of hot water, bed was super comfortable. The view of the Jim Morrison mural from our window was unexpected - we loved all the art and neat decor throughout. The morning brunch was top rate and well worth the price. The secure parking was appreciated as well. The staff were the BEST!!! So helpful, friendly and attentive to detail. Highly recommend this boutique hotel.
    • Perfect location - parking on premises

    Cons -

    • bathroom - shower in the tub was extremely slippy
    • The room was very small with no space to move around without bumping into the bed or suitcases
    • No air-conditioning; no lift. Building nice and historic but starting to get a bit worn in places.

Wonderful hotel. Beautiful room. It was so spacious and the bed was large. There was also a fan in each room, which we appreciated. Great staff, too. They spoke English when our French wasn't getting us there, lol, and even quickly found a bag we had left behind so we didn't miss our train. Thank you for the wonderful stay.

Cool and classy hotel in a perfect location in the city centre, very pleasant and smiling staff and good breakfast offerings

It didn’t bother me but be aware that there are a lot of stairs to the upper floor

Wonderfully quirky; loved the art; very friendly and helpful staff; and hotel very clean. And ideal location to explore the city.

Only negative were the showers. Really dated in need of improvement…..

Hotel Froncois Premier is a very good Hotel in the center of La Rochelle. Very pleasant staff and confortable quiet room. We will not hesitate to stay here again

We did extend for one night our stay and we were charged more for the same room. This is because for the extra night we booked directly with the hotel and not booking . com, which at the time it gave us a discounted rate. This was not a big issue for us as we liked the Hotel.

The Hotel is in the very heart of the city.

Not a good place to stay even if you have a good offer. We booked the cheapest room available to stay over night in town. The room had distinctive smell of chemicals - it's either cleaning the mold, or killing the bugs - one of the two. Neither one is nice. We though the smell will be gone with the window open - nope it stayed through the night, causing the headache in the morning (slept with the windows open). The room was dirty - hairs all around the shower. And some signs of somebody's biological activity on the wall - which I would prefer to not know about (see the photo). The shower cabin was very small. I'm not a big guy, but it was a real challenge to have shower inside the cabin - imagine when you drop a shampoo and not able to pick it up just because the cabin is so small you have no space to bend. And yes, the flow of water is very weak, if you have a long hair this would be hard to wash them. I wouldn't come there again even if the room would be twice as cheap.

The welcome was really warm & friendly. The réception staff were really welcoming and we enjoyed chatting with them. The quirky decor. The location was great - right in the centre of the city with easy access to the shops, restaurants & the port.

    Breakfast not included

Location was perfect. Off street parking was handy for getting luggage in and out. Friendly staff. Breakfast was good (extra cost) but we were in a hurry to get on the road to Paris so it was great that we could eat and run.

Room was a little small but for one night it was good.

The hotel was ideally placed for the old town. The directions to the hotel were excellent, we found it with no problem. Private, secure parking on site. The room was large and warm. All staff members we met were extremely helpful and friendly
