Hotel Les Gens de Mer La Rochelle

The staff (front desk, housekeeping) are super friendly and helpful. The room price for 5 days was really affordable, and the hotel’s in a great location, we could walk to the old port, the train station, the aquarium, restaurants, and the market.

I’ve got nothing negative to say about this hotel.

I paid 17 euros odd per for carparking which was not covered outside and with no lighting in the darkness and rain. It was No9. You could only access the carparking by going out the front door and round the back of the hotel where pools of water awaited you at No 9;

Handily located close to train station and town centre and a great starting point for joining the Velodyssee cycle route. Very helpful staff and plentiful buffet breakfast at 10 Euros per head.

No complaints.

Location - between the station and the old town. Very near the aquarium. Staff were friendly, breakfast good.

No tea or coffee making facilities in the room. No English speaking channels on TV.

Staff were lovely, location great, rooms nice and clean. Family room over two floors so lots of space.

It was just too hot, we were on the Third floor without A/C. Though we had fans we really struggled to sleep.

Plastic mattress protector unbearable. So hot made us sweat all night even though room was cool. Also no wifi

Hotel was a bit 'tired' but clearly being renovated (no noise or disruption I must add). Having to pay for parking the motorcycle's in a space when they could be put to a side out of the way.

Very friendly staff, very quiet room. Efficient check-in/out process. Close to city center, but not right in the city center, which makes it a lot quieter

The location was superb, the staff were warm and welcoming. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the beds super comfy. Good breakfast spread.

Absolutely brilliant location - 1 min walk to train station. And 5 min walk to the main street area pubs etc We were over for the La Rochelle Munster rugby match and this hotel was ideal for us Staff were brilliant and the breakfast was yummy

Floors in rooms need replacing, gaps and loose tiles suggest they mightn’t be as clean as should be. Hallways shabby

+ All receptionists were really kind and polite.+ They allowed us leaving our bags at the reception after the check-out and pick them up later. Thank you!+ The room was clean and comfortable, with a very large window.+ The location is close to the railway station, but also close to the centre. Very good!

- The shower was a bit tiny.- The hotel may look older from the outside, but we were really happy here.

It was a little small in relation to the bedroom size and the bar was not well stocked.

Very small room and very small bathroom that needs to be upgraded and restored.Expensive for an outdated hotel

-Location is perfect. Super close to the center and port, within walking distance.-Parking around the hotel is free from 18:30 till 09:00 am so we basically didn't need to pay (spots limited, especially in high season)-The room was very basic and old style but clean and with a good shower-Cannot comment on breakfast as we didn't take it

-I find it a bit overpriced for the services it offers.-In the evening we asked the staff if we could maybe use the boiler and get a cup of tea. The staff was really friendly and said 'of course, here it is'. Afterwards we were charged 3 euros. It's not about the price but it felt a little awkward and exaggerated, or at least it could have been said in advance.-I had emailed the hotel twice to get some information about the parking and never got an answer so when we arrived we first had to park in a common paid parking and unload all the luggage to only later find out that we could have parked for free around the hotel.
