    Pros +

    • The food was excellent, room and bathroom clean yet shower floor seemed old. The floor had grooves and cracks. Gave an impression of decadence and uncleanliness.
    • The easy access to both Spas. Breakfast was excellent in beautiful room. Our second visit and we will return!
    • Great stay. Location is very chill and secluded. Restaurant and food options were pretty good. Rooms comfortable and the SPA is very nice.

    Cons -

    • Mattress on bed was not highest quality nor firm. Pillows were too hard. Not fluffy and comfortable. Parts of spa were not operating. They should have warned us BEFORE going as this was our favorite part that we wanted to visit. We were left quite disappointed. And some things in the hotel seemed a bit obsolete or old and not well maintained. Especially for a 5 star hotel & spa.
    • Bed was a little hard and produced backache in my partner.
    • The least positive aspect of our experience was, without a doubt, the quality of our rest. We were unable to sleep well on any of the nights we stayed at the hotel.1.The room was excessively warm, even with the heating turned off.2.The lack of pillow variety was also an issue. The two provided were very thin, but when combined, they were too thick. At least for my husband and me, this made it impossible to get a good night’s sleep. For us, proper rest is essential, and not being able to sleep well slightly tarnished an otherwise excellent experience. As for the staff, they were generally very professional and kind. Although there was an isolated interaction that did not match the excellent service provided by the rest of the team.

El Manantial felt like a very special place. We usually visited during quieter hours, between 12:00 PM and 5:00 PM.Aquaxana, particularly the sauna area and the cold-water pool, offered a deeply relaxing experience. To avoid crowds, we recommend visiting at 9:00 AM, 10:00 AM, or around noon. The setting is stunning, with pleasant walking paths. Additionally, there are several remarkable restaurants nearby, such as La Vizcaína (just a 2-minute walk from the hotel) and Pedro Martino (a 10-minute walk). The latter is perfect for lunch, offering exceptional views. The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom is very comfortable, adding an extra touch of convenience to the stay.

    Spa, calm

Parking , reception was close most of the time, we had to go to the other hotel, breakfast was quite poor

Fab rooms, amazing breakfast & of course spa!

    8RobertaPosted on: 8-26-2024

The old part of the hotel has been very nicely refurbished and the spas (both Manatial and Aquaxana) are both worth visiting. The staff is very nice and helpful. The breakfast is served in a beautiful room and all the food and drinks served are of very high quality, which makes overall the experience a 5-star one.

It is a pity that people enter in the saunas with plastic slippers, instead of leaving them outside. When checking in, we were not informed about an activity organised by the hotel, consisting in a guided trekking in the surrounding of Las Caldas, which we then missed. The hairdryer was very weak and not up to a 5 star hotel.

Access to the Balenario Real Spa was easy and we loved our hours spent in the various oils, saunas etc. The food was good and breakfast room beautiful witness good options.

Finding reception was very confusing and there were not good instructions about arrival.

This is my favourite place in Oviedo. I have aready stayed there several times and I enjoyed each stay. The quietness and the decent luxury there are amazing. The old spa is my favourite of the bathing options available. Great breakfast, friendly personnel. I look forward to my next stay.

Nice (big and modern) spa facilities and yet they have managed to keep some old architectural gems intact. Breakfast and room service offered plenty of tasty options.

Not too much free parking around the hotel.

I love the spa itself and the room was big and nice.

We did not like the food, we have to argue to get the restaurant food delivered to.our room and it was not that great. We have been before and it was way better. We also have to walk all the way to reception because none was picking up the phone. You go to a spa to relax so having to walk up and down to get served it is not the best experience. Also we have to wait in line for a while before we were allowed to have breakfast.

    Big room, friendly personnel

Bar area was a bit soulless

Great location, in the quiet and charming town of Las Caldas, surrounded by mountains and hiking paths, but also close to Oviedo (main city in the area), with a bus stop just by the hotel and merely a 20 minute ride from the city. Perfect combination of peace and nature to decompress and relax, with accessibility to a bigger town, airport, train station, etc. Beautiful buildings for this complex, keeping part of the original architecture. Big facilities with pretty much everything you might need. Gardens around the buildings are fantastic for a peaceful walk and events can be hosted there. Outstanding gym with all sorts of stations, weights, cardio equipment, etc. One of the best assets of this place. Spa is really good. Jacuzzis, two saunas (90 and 70 degrees celsius), Turkish bath, hot-cold pools, etc. Health and wellness center offers lots of options in terms of treatments, massages, etc. Interior and exterior swimming pools. Most of the spa is accessible only by booking in advance, so doesn't get crowded. It has two restaurants (one a bit more upscale, the other one a more regular one) and a cafeteria. Tried the "upscale" one and found pretty good food and service. Breakfast buffet was really complete and good quality, in a beautiful space called "Mirrors room". Cafeteria works well for a snack and has a good menu to eat outside restaurant hours. It has two main lounges with plenty of seating for gatherings, reading or to play pool. All the different buildings in the complex are well connected by corridors and an over-road bridge, short walks from one area to the other. The suite is spacious, comfy and had nice views to a hill just by the hotel. Good AC in the room. Ok amenities. Extra ones on demand. Good bathroom, well equipped.

    - Room was fairly outdated. Old and stained sofa, old tables and chairs. Comfy enough but not in good shape and with clear signs of some of the fun previous guests had... It was the only thing that didn't feel like the type of hotel you were booking there. - Empty mini-bar, just water in there. Nespresso-type coffee machine in the room but once I used it I never got more capsules for another day. - No ventilation in the corridors, really hot in there some days. Thin walls, you could hear your neighbours loud and clear at times. - Breakfast had to be book in advance. Not a problem for an early bird like myself, but having to set a time to wake up and have breakfast doesn't necessarily mesh well with the relax and disconnection from routine and stress you look for in a hotel like that.

+ Best SPA zone that we’ve ever visited + Great location + Comfortable and quiet room

    - It would be great to have more variety of choices for breakfast

Atencion fantastica, Las piscinas increibles, la comida insuperable.

Perfect location if you are looking for a quiet place including spa/gym just 15 minutes away from Oviedo centre by car. Fully equipped gym and 2 spa's, excellent breakfast in wonderful breakfast hall

Staff is very friendly but doesn't speak English, bit of a challenge therefore for foreigners

    9ManuelPosted on: 3-2-2022

Spa and Balneario were amazing. Same with the massage treatments.Bed super comfortable and the staff really kind and helpful.

Breakfast should be healthier, there is not much fruit options, and also the bread and bakery was processed instead of homemade.

The SPA in the Grand Hotel is incredible - real luxury. Probably the best we've ever been to. This is where most of the 5 stars goes to. The staff is very kind, flexible and helpful. The village, where the whole object is located is a sanctuary of quietness, nature and beautiful views, just 15-20 min. from Oviedo city centre by car. We have actually extended our stay because we just couldn't leave the place. Rich breakfasts in the room of mirrors will be hard to forget, too.

TV set and WiFi reception needs improvement. Also, lack of coffee maker in the room and daily water service was something unexpected in the 5* hotel. Nevertheless, the qualities of the place definitely prevail over these minor challenges.
