Located on the main square of the beautiful coastal town of Donegal, the 3-star Abbey Hotel is located right next to Donegal Castle. The hotel offers free WiFi throughout the hotel and a restaurant using fresh, Irish produce. Comfortable bedrooms each feature a flat-screen TV, telephone and individual private bathroom. Most rooms also overlook Donegal Bay and the River Eske. The hotel restaurant, The Market House, has a menu of excellent international cuisine. Pros +
- This is such a pretty hotel and it is right on the square. It is convenient to everything.
- The location is the best, especially if you're taking the bus. It's in the middle of Donegal town. The staff was fantastic and helpful.
- Liked convenience to local restaurants and shops.
Cons -
- The bed was AWFUL. I don't mean bad, I really mean awful. It was springs with no cushioning over them. It was like sleeping on metal. I rolled all night long because any part of your body that is on the mattress gets sore quickly.
- The bed was weird, with one side absurdly hard and the other side with springs nearly exposed. Obviously everyone has slept on the right side. And there was no water pressure to speak of; the water never got above lukewarm.
- Room was too small for all of our luggage. Not a lot of counter space and no drawers.

Location
The beds and pillows are terrible. People congregate just outside the front door smoking. There is nowhere to park to load/unload your car. Customer parking is two blocks away from the hotel. Not a good experience.
