Beautiful classic building with high ceilings. Very stylish and well maintained. Fantastic kitchen and lovely staff. Bit pricey perhaps, but you can't go wrong with this hotel.

Beautifully designed room, courtyards and pool area in a great location with fantastic views. The owners told us the history of the casa that his family has owned for well over a century!

A Perfect Stay at Solar Madariaga Hotel – Warm Hospitality and CharmI recently stayed at Solar Madariaga Hotel in Vicuña, Chile, and it was truly a fantastic experience. This place is an absolute gem, combining excellent service, delicious food, and a rich sense of history and character.Incredible StaffThe staff at Solar Madariaga are the heart and soul of the hotel. They went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. Whether it was the front desk team, the restaurant staff, or the housekeeping, everyone greeted us with a genuine smile and were incredibly attentive to our needs.Delicious Meals at the Attached RestaurantThe restaurant at Solar Madariaga is hands down the best place to eat in Vicuña! Every meal we had was a treat and I looked forward the the inclusive breakfast every morning. The quality of food, combined with the cozy, welcoming atmosphere of the restaurant, made it a highlight of our stay. The bar is also renowned for making excellent cocktails. A Hub for Tourism & RelaxationOne of the best things about Solar Madariaga is how it’s integrated into the local tourism ecosystem. The hotel made it so easy to plan and book activities during our stay, from relaxing massages to guided tours around the region. They connected us with trusted local providers and ensured everything was well-organized, so we didn’t have to worry about a thing. It was such a convenient and stress-free way to explore Vicuña and the surrounding area.A Beautiful, Historic BuildingThe hotel itself is housed in a beautiful old building that is full of character and history and has remained under ownership of the same family, and it was great to learn about it's history from the owner.

The town of Vicuña is like stepping back in time in the most beautiful way. Then once you step into this hotel you are transformed into a boutique luxury experience. The rooms are well appointed, clean and the staff is wonderful. Having traveled for quite some time, the housekeeping staff was kind to do a load of laundry for us! Above and beyond and super appreciated! We ate dinner here twice, had breakfast three mornings (which was a perfect blend of fresh fruit and juice, eggs, toast and ham made to order and americano)! I ended up needing to work on some contracts during our stay and the wifi was impeccable from all points on the property, note just in my room. I worked one morning and one afternoon under the shaded tables near the pool. It was lovely. Our dinner both nights were great. While the staff doesn’t speak much English, we were able to communicate and ended up loving the connection made with our servers. Shout out to Darani! She went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of.On top of all of this, Diego, who runs the property was fantastic. He spoke great English and was able to help guide us on the other parts of Chile we should visit. He also connected us with Ruben to drive us to and from the airport. We loved Ruben so much we booked him for every ride of our stay! He transported us to the Elqui Valley and back, to La Serena and back. His car is very nice, comfortable, safe and he is an impeccable driver. Be sure to ask to connect with him for your travels! In town, my partner got a haircut from the barber shop one block away. We visited the local grocery store twice for small provisions and ate delicious sorbet at the shop on the corner of the plaza. We also ate one lunch and dinner At Antawara. Lunch was great. Dinner missed the mark for us but they were very slow that night and we were the last table. Their pisco drinks were good!We highly suggest going from there to the Elqui Valley as well!

Solar Madariaga is a peaceful oasis. The grounds were beautifully up kept and the pool was a wonderful. The hotel had the most comfortable bed out of our entire trip in South America. The hotel restaurant was one of the best in town!

    Nothing - everything was great

Lovely hotel, possibly the best we have stayed in so far during our month long Chile/Argentina trip. We had a very well appointed and large room, maybe slightly too close to the restaurant & therefore a little noisy up until 11pm. Restaurant was excellent and we thought reasonable value for money. We liked the restaurant so much that we ate there both nights of our stay. We were very well looked after by our waiter, Juan. Muchas gracias Juan! Breakfast was also excellent. Diego, the owner, was also very helpful.

We thought the evening astronomy experience was disappointing. The person hosting this was a poor communicator and he assumed too much about the audience’s knowledge of astronomy (ie too many unexplained technical terms). Only 3 opportunities to use the telescope and the darkness was disturbed by lights from other guests rooms etc. This does not reflect on our opinion of the hotel because as I’ve said above the hotel was excellent!

    10AthenaPosted on: 11-2-2024

Our stay was awesome! I love the hotel and everywhere you looked was beautiful. The staff were awesome and special mention for Diego the manager and also Juan our waiter in the restaurant. Juan chose local wine for us and recomended where we could travel around in the area. He was such an awesome waiter and we absolutely loved everything about the place. I was sad to leave!

    10PaulaPosted on: 10-17-2024

Excellent location and beautiful setting with luxury of a pool and hot tubs.

    8RebeccaPosted on: 10-15-2024

Really great staff, super clean, great breakfast, nice common areas. Aloe Restaurant has good food but is pricey for the portion sizes. Street parking was easy to find.

Bed was too soft and over used in places. Please get rid of the toilet seat cover that falls on you when you use the toilet.

amazing facilities. beautiful, comfortable, great king bed. the food in the restaurant is superb.

Beautiful hotel with exceptional attention to detail. The staff were very attentive and the amenities were perfect. Lots of history with a modern flare. Would love to return. The massages we booked were great and the hot tub on the terrace was secluded and peaceful.

    10AudreyPosted on: 3-24-2024

Everything about this hotel was perfect. Friendly and helpful staff, comfortable beds, delicious on-site restaurant, and the pool and hot tub were a dream. They had laundry services available as well.

This hotel is spectacular - the staff are so friendly and attentive, the facilities are lovely and very clean. The rooms are spacious and are of a very nice design. The courtyard and common areas are so relaxing, and the restaurant is absolutely delicious!! The breakfasts in the morning are very generous and fresh too. Would highly recommend to stay here. We tried a couple of other restaurants in vicuna but by far this was the best! Great value for money.

    Everything was perfect! :)
