Pros +
- The rooms including the large stand-up shower and separated toilet were spectacular. The view from our room with comfortable seating and cozy bed with multiple windows really was amazing. Plus having cushy robes and towels always easily available was a fantastic perk given the setting and multiple spa areas. Ian in the bar area was a true highlight as he provided great restaurant recommendations in town and prepared super yummy drinks. He was always kind and sociable and happy to help as we did request a bucket of ice one night. His presence truly made our stay great!!
- - the location (remote but still close to city center)- the food (delicious dinner with high quality products)- daily shuttle bus to gondola- daily activities at the hotel - the rooftop heated pool is amazing
- Great location, beautiful warm swimming pool between Mountain View . Very good beakfast , amazing gourmet dinners.
Cons -
- We didn't care for the only evening dinner meal being so lengthy and fancy. It was an amazing treat which we truly enjoyed on Saturday night but it would have been nice to have a simple buffet option or maybe a simple burger to choose. Due to the length of the meal and feeling the need to be dressed up to attend, we went offsite a couple of nights even though the dinner there was already paid for. Plus we agree with other guests that for an all-inclusive, water should be included at any time. I realize it's part of the "service" for dinner but I didn't see any table ONLY ordering water. Everyone still had wine or a soda and water is necessary along with that so I feel the service was already being paid for in other ways. Also, I wish there had been a true hot tub available. We got cold.
- - the lack of slippers in the room (we would expect to receive slippers, not to buy them from reception)
- It would be nice to have a coffee machine in the room.

Wouldn’t recommend, wouldn’t stay here again.
From the moment we arrived, the experience at this hotel felt disconnected. We checked in around 7:30 p.m. and were told to come back another night for the welcome drink because the restaurant was closing soon. A welcome drink takes two minutes — it’s supposed to set the tone and make guests feel at home. Instead, it felt rushed and impersonal. The inconsistency continued. Some staff wore uniforms, while others were in casual street clothes. For example, I had booked a couples massage, which turned out to be two separate massages in different rooms. The gentleman checking my wife in for her massage was dressed casually, and then went on to give her the treatment. It felt unprofessional and out of place for a luxury resort.Dinner service was equally disappointing. Our server knew we were American, yet the table next to us carried on loudly with negative political commentary about America. Instead of helping create a pleasant atmosphere, staff even participated in the disapproval of American politics, making us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. This is my holiday — I don’t need to hear that while trying to enjoy dinner. The food itself was not much better. Meals leaned heavily on the buffet, with the “main course” one night being a single sliver of flank steak. If you’re going to offer all-inclusive rates, the dining should feel complete, not like an afterthought. By the third night, we chose not to eat in-house at all.Overall, everything at Zillergrund Rock felt disjointed and disappointing. For a property that positions itself as a luxury mountain resort, the service, professionalism, and dining experience simply did not match the expectation.
The resort is set in a pretty gorge with a rushing stream well outside of Mayhofen. It is possible to get there by bus from the Zillertal, but much easier if you have a car. The building itself is beautiful and the spa/sauna facilities are excellent. The meals were very good and the staff were friendly and helpful. There are a few nice hiking and bicycling options nearby, but many more if you go down to the valley. They have a couple of electric vehicle chargers (extra cost) in the garage, which was very useful for me.
Breakfast and dinner were great. Lunch if you are there was a bonus. Lovely roof pool and wellness facilities. Building is a great design and instagram worthy. Nestled in a river valley, it was peaceful and quiet especially at night.
We got the feeling Brits weren't really welcome. The staff are abrupt and only available from 8.00am. We had a late transfer back and there wasn't really any attempt to help us ski and change before leaving, our bags were left next to reception desk all day and when we did leave there was no acknowledgement. The wellness sauna/steamroom areas are naked only in both buildings, and we asked if we could wear swimwear and told 'naked only'. Bathrobes but no slippers, which we assumed was to avoid plastic packaging but no compromise. They had removed soap dispensers in the rooms but left the brackets on the walls. Transfer shuttle to Penkenbahn is small so you needed to be 15mins early to get a seat.
Its an absolutely gorgeous hotel in a breathtaking area. Being a bit remote from the city for me was a plus. It really allows full recharging abd has a vibe of a family owned hotel which definetely makes all the difference for me. The food is amazing, the facilities are lovely.
Service.. Slow service at dinner or when you report something about the room, and not very helpful or accomodating staff.
The hotel was amazing. The design very unique. We had a room with a sauna inside which was amazing. The spa is excellent and the outside pool was amazing. Very good breakfast. Location comfortable- 7 mins ride to the penken lift. There is a ride from and to the hotel once an hour and one of the town buses also stops by the hotel.
The dinner is a 6 course meal and a bit exhausting, takes almost 2 hours. We got rather tired waiting for all the courses every night. Ski room convenient but lockers aren’t locked… nothing happened to our things but it’s a bit concerning since the equipment is expensive.
Great and modern hotel, good food. Great service
It's 30 minutes walk away from the town.
The view from the room, Spa zone is nice, breakfast and lunch were good. Wine selection is amazing. Dinner food (set menu) was just ok (too much creativity :-)).
The staff at times was not very helpful nor friendly. Most disappointing was slippers for 7Euro at supposedly lux resort and the fact that the waiter at dinner tried to convince us of "buying" 3 drinks that we have not ordered. Glass doors to the bathroom in the rooms is not very "convenient"
Food was amazing for each each meal. Sauna's and pool areas are beautiful and perfect for deep relaxation. Bedrooms were large and comfy with great views.
Was a bit challenging to find times or a massage, but not such a serious problem
Very nice modern resort, excellent breakfast with a lot of different choices up to unforgettable dinners, good position for hiking and bikes btw rentable directly in hotel, great spa
usually I do not comment rooms at all, I just sleep there anyway, but we had cozy but small room a bit dark, so comparing with others 4 stars resorts in Austria we felt a bit straitened, but definitely it was not such a big inconvenience to spoil our stay
Location, peace, interiror, breakfast and outdoor pool were great. It is a very nice hotel and we really enjoyed our stay.
Staff, except Lucas; should really improve their knowledge of english, not all guests speak german so we had a little misunderstandings in communication.
The all inclusive resort meals were all very top notch. Great quality and, of course, quantity. Please note alcoholic beverages are not included.
They should be clear on the beverages what is and what is not included. It was not clear that some alcoholic beverages are not included with meals. They should be upfront on the prices of said beverages.
Almost everything : facilities are great and never the feeling of overcrowded areas : spa facilities perfect . Food excellent . Real feeling of relaxed holidays : activities proposed varied and of great quality : excellent moments with Markus being at Sauna or in forest bath ! We did excellent cycling afternoon !
Our table at restaurant was bit far away hence the service bit slow.
Gorgeous, unique modern hotel, located in a beautiful location. Lovely helpful staff serving superb food an drinks. The double room was a touch on the small side, air con would have been useful. Shortage of sun beds around the sky pool, but all round, a lovely experience. Chilled out place, very well maintained, beautifully furnished, very clean and we really enjoyed ourselves, everything of a high standard and condition.
Just the double room was quite small.
Breakfast is delicious. The food in general is super.
Sometimes the weather is warm and no air conditioning is installed.
We loved the pool and the view. It was incredible. The rooms were big enough for ourselves and our infant. The food was amazing, especially considering it was full board. We were very pleased to eat each meal there. The servers were incredibly nice and we really enjoyed them. It was a great location for lots of incredible hiking.
Our room was quite warm and there is no way of changing it so we requested a fan twice but no staff member ever acted on it or gave us an update. We had to sleep with the door to the patio open to keep it somewhat cool, but that meant we had our door open to the bar patio and we listened to the patrons late into the night and smelled smoke from their cigarettes and cigars all night. It was especially bad for our 6-month old trying to sleep. Lots of rooms surround the bar's patio - I would be sure to request a room away from that area.We also did not find the property very kid friendly as we were never offered help with our luggage, a luggage cart, or a high chair for any meal. It felt like a very romantic getaway for couples, which is great, but felt it should be adults only if that's the vibe they want to give off while you're there and not accommodate children. Upon arrival the wind picked up and knocked a patio umbrella on me, while another one landed on a gentleman in the pool. Each day the wind would pick up and it would be the receptionist's job to run around and close all the umbrellas down. It seems like there could be a better method to this as I suspect the mountain winds pick up most days in the afternoon.Parking was also difficult to secure if you got there too late in the afternoon after a day of exploring. Also they state they're full board but there is one coffee machine for the entire hotel (they've taken them out of the individual rooms), so you spend most of breakfast waiting in line for that. They lock it up after breakfast, so you have to pay for coffee from there on out. After lunch they also lock up the water, so you have to pay for water for dinner. Small things that felt unnecessary to save their bottom line.
Absolutely amazing place, hotel with all services, prefekt cuisine and very kind staff. One of the best hotel we have ever visited. We can recommend to everyone.
We had to leave :-(
What a stunning 5 day mountain escape. Beautiful wellness spaces and luxurious facilities. Just so very special all of the free events offered to guests, wow, we were so impressed. Thank you Markus for the meditation and sauna experiences. Very rarely do we stay in all-inclusive places but again, wow - the food could not be faulted. More staff are needed when the hotel is fully-booked so that dinner is not a 3 hour event but other than that, a truly exceptional time, thank you.
