    Pros +

    • Location was excellent. Literally skiing lift to door distance.
    • Good location, easy to get to from Bardonecchia train station by free shuttle bus and the host Luca was very responsive before the trip on every matter and was very helpful throughout. We were 4 families with kids. Two families had rooms with the kitchenettes, and everything was in working order and had everything we needed, however the sofabeds in those rooms were not the most comfortable. My family hd a quadroople room with which we were very happy with and the beds were comfy. Rooms were very clean, just the walls are very thin so you do hear everything in the other room. We used the sauna with hot tub a few times- very nice to relax after skiing(does cost extra). Overall we were very happy with our stay and definitely recommend hotel La Pigna!
    • Great stay at Hotel La Pigna! The family who run the hotel are really friendly and helpful, we were made really welcome, the breakfast is fantastic, as is the location, so close to the Melezet-Chesal chairlift. We wanted to arrive early, before check-in, and change at the hotel in order to ski all day. Not a problem - they were really helpful in providing us with somewhere to change and in looking after our bags till the room was available. That sort of genuine helpfulness really makes a difference! The ski storage room is great, with its heated cabinets, so your boots are nice and dry each morning. The lady who runs the breakfast is lovely, so attentive in making sure we knew how to get our coffees etc. Lovely range of freshly-baked cakes, and fruit - thank goodness, it's so easy not to see any fruit on a holiday like this! Thanks for a lovely time!

    Cons -

    • It was warm, clean, friendly staff.
    • This isn't really a criticism but it would have been great to know in advance that the cheapest way to get your skipass is with a discount from the hotel. We'd bought our passes online in advance to take advantage of the online discount, but in fact it would have been cheaper to go via the hotel (the skipass office is next to the hotel anyway, so it would be quick to get it there). Melezet is a pretty little village and much quieter for crowds than Campo Smith - which is great - but it does mean that eating out is perhaps more limited. There's a great pizzeria in the village but if like us you didn't bring a car you'll be eating pizza every evening. Except Mondays, when you can walk to the neighbouring village of Les Arnauds - where there's a pizzeria. Hey ho, there's worse, but just to be aware...
    • Too noisy as the walls were too thin

lovely owners, ready to help out with local information, even giving lifts when they weren’t too busy, arranged ski lessons. highly recommended

The hotel staff is really very kind and helpful. They let us check in early in the morning, at 9 am and were always available when needed. The breakfast is very good. There is a store room to put all the skiing-gears and the ski lift is just next to the hotel. The view outside our room was also fantastic!
