Pros +
- The location of the hotel is excellent. You're near the city center, you're right on top of the weekend market, you're a 3 minute walk from where they sell the ski passes, and you'll pretty much spend all your time walking, which is great for the body. The location alone pushes the rating higher than it should be. If you're on a winter holiday, this is a good place to be if you can put up with the annoyances.
- unique atmosphere, felt like at home, great location, very good restaurant
- Its vintage hotel i loved how historic, clean and the location is perfect
Cons -
- I had the suite. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and isn’t properly heated. There was no bidet. The interior design needs to be cleaned up and refreshed. The breakfast’s service and quality changed every day. Sometimes it was nice and sometimes it was very bad. The stay was overpriced. The concierge offered me free shuttle service to take us to our dinner and then the shuttle was given to someone else. For me to make it to my reservation, I was charged 45 euros for each trip. All these little things at a supposedly 5-star hotel with a very heavy price tag were disappointing. The only person consistently excited to help and be welcoming was the morning concierge gentleman. The rest of the staff were pleasant but they sometimes could not be of adequate help.
- Room service food the brought me undercooked rice and unasty club sandwich
- If you’re tall, avoid the top floor rooms as the showers are quite small and have a low ceiling. Other than that, great value for the price and incredible stay!

Location-amazing staff-big rooms
Very nice hotel in the heart of Megeve. The staff was lovely and took really good care of us!

The breakfast & the staff made our stay. The jets in the hot tub were wonderful.
The rooms are small & the door handles are all loose. The hot tub could have been warmer.
Very unusual, but nice layout! Standalone chalet with common sitting area and huge kitchen, uniting 4-6 individual rooms. Perfect for big family!!!
Kinda low hanging beams on top floor. Kept on banging head.. You might install some small cushions))
The location was fantastic—just a short walk from the village center, making it incredibly convenient to get around. Additionally, the hotel offers a complimentary driver service, which provided an effortless way to explore the area. The rooms are elegantly designed, with exceptional cleanliness maintained throughout our stay. The spa, though modest in size, offers a relaxing space for a quick dip and unwind.
The breakfast was unacceptable. The entire concept seemed to revolve around chocolate, with no actual breakfast menu—just a simple question of whether we wanted eggs. I ordered eggs twice, and both times, they arrived with a hair in them, making them completely inedible. A hotel cannot base its breakfast offering solely on chocolate; there are guests like us who prefer savoury options.Additionally, the pricing for food and drinks was completely out of touch—€22 for a cocktail, and €30 for a club sandwich is excessive. The hotel has great potential, but it definitely needs to improve its menu offerings.
I had an amazing stay at Grand Hotel Soleil d'or The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, making sure every detail of my visit was perfect. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and beautifully designed for comfort. The amenities, from the spa, or restaurant, were top-notch. The location was also ideal, making it easy to explore the area. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a fantastic experience!"
- Best hot chocolate ever - Great ski services - Very cozy
- Spa service could be enhanced
Very good location and everything is very good .. only the price is to high for the facilities.. and not including the breakfast..
The staff in morning breakfast in out time is they have bad service… only the lady her name chantele she is very very positive and beautiful ?
Excellent service and facility.Especially shuttle bus service to Ski Lifts and hospitality of drivers (Concierge) is super comfortable.I visited there for consecutive 3 winters, and no idea to change our hotel in Megeve.
It is very stylish and welcoming
The spa, especially the sauna, was not great- it could not keep the heat because of the big gap at the door which let the cold air come through.
The reception upon arrival and departure was excellent (valet car parking etc.). The room welcome with a personal hand written message was very nicely done. The challet accomodation was great and they had put our friends in the same challet. Super experience
The shower was a little bit tempramental. There were no blinds that could be closed in the shower room. The shower room was overlooked from the next building balcony. Only a net curtain was hanging at the window.
Very Clean, luxurious, polite staff, great location
We had generally an ok time in the hotel, most of it - thanks to their concierge Fabien, who did an amazing job and created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Unfortunately our room had really small windows which were located in very strange places, so it felt like being in a basement. the roof was an attic style, super low where the bath was (I hit my head 4 times really hard and had to bent every time I went to wash my hands). When we arrived late at night there were a lot of flying bugs in the room, some of which were relatively big, so we had to spend half an hour chasing them.. luckily, were able to get rid of all of them. additional to all of this, the toilet’s acoustic was so terrible that every sound was very well heard in the rest of the room. Maybe someone wouldn’t care but generally that’s not the sounds you want to hear.. Seemed like staff was not well trained for a 5 star hotel- it took them 3 hours and talking to 3 different people to bring an iron. Some days, the cleaning service brought the water, added tea bags and washed the glasses, and some days they didn’t do any of this.
Great location, helpful staff, best hot chocolate ever
Personnel were really great but wanted to shout out to Fabian the concierge who took away any friction from the trip. He matched me up with a ski instructor and restaurant reservations were lined up perfectly. The property is newly renovated and the rooms are very comfortable.
Excellent and helpful staff, very central location in Megève , shuttle to the ski lifts
Ski room quite small as well as underground parking
Staff, facilities and location
The room I had didn’t have a shower nor good windows …. It was a bathtub and skylight window that you can’t see anything from
