Pros +
- The strong point of this hotel is its location. It’s located in the middle of vineyards overlooking the sea. Sunset views are amazing. Relaxing place if you need to disconnect and recharge your batteries
- Location, garden, walk to the ocean, apartment are comfortable and well organized . Diner for new year was great
- The location is beautiful and the accommodation (in the 3 star residence) was very good. The duplex apartment was well appointed and equipped. The bed was really comfortable.
Cons -
- - Service at main restaurant very slow and staff not very attentive to details - Would be nice to have a fridge in the room especially on hot days for cold water- There was no place to wash feet when you come up from the beach and before you enter the hotel when feet are full of sand
- Rooms need some refreshment
- We were advised by email a few days before our arrival (and when it was too late to cancel our booking) that we would not be able to eat in the hotel restaurant as it was fully booked during our 3 night stay. We had not been encouraged to book ahead for dinner, or warned that this might be the case. The on site restaurant had been one of the features which attracted us. Staff were dismissive when we expressed our disappointment about this.

Breakfast was pretty good.
Disappointed in dinner but the head waiter did handle it well.
Beautiful gardens, great location, ideal for families.
The accommodation is generous, but needs upgrading.
Average
We booked a Studio and were given a disabled room which was very dark and drab, old fashioned and disappointing.
Peaceful, tidy, lovely coastal walks by the hotel.
I booked two nights at the hotel, but on arrival I was informed that there was no availability for dinner at the hotel restaurant as it was fully booked! A definite first and one that I don’t wish to repeat.
The breakfast was good with a nice selection but was SO expensive comparatively.
I think the rooms need a little updating and new carpets. I wish the new building was more in keeping with the original which is exceptionally lovely
Beautiful grounds and great facilities. Comfortable room and friendly helpful staff.
The pool was very small and restaurant was fully booked.
Beautiful surrounding with amazing grounds and we loved the pigs and goats. Guinguette in the evening was brilliant fun with great food and drinks.
The breakfast was lovely and the location and grounds were beautiful
There was no restaurant bookings for lunch or dinner. This was really disappointing as we had so looked forward to eating in the restaurant. I think they should consider reserving some space for residents. The restaurant staff were quite rude when we queried this and asked if they could help us out. We were travelling with small children who we then had to drive with to get food. Also when the restaurant was serving you could not use the bar, this had not been made clear, so we were unable to have a drink in the evening. We stayed in one of the apartments, they are pretty basic but clean decent sized bedrooms. The kitchen was dirty when we arrived but the staff did immediately come and sort this out.Overall we were just really disappointed as we had looked forward to this holiday as a family so much, and it’s a shame when it’s such a picture perfect venue.
Location, friendly stuff, great facilities : swimming pool, spa, restaurant, garden
Very good breakfast, amazing garden
The old part of the hotel is charming but not very good isolated (sound). Which is for an older building normal and acceptable.
We had a lovely stay at La Fontaine. We had a duplex style room, overlooking the garden with self-catering facilities. The room was spacious with a balcony, ideal for the summer evenings. All staff were friendly and helpful. Our evening meal in the restaurant was excellent, as was breakfast - both were of high quality with plenty of options. There was a barbeque and band in the gardens one evening - which was great, despite the rain! We used the hotel spa and loved the fact that the beach was within walking distance. The hotel is right next to the cycle path and offered secure storage for our bikes - which meant that we didn't need to use the car for our 3 day stay.
It would have been good for the hotel to let guests know that there were evening activities going on - we only found out by chance about the BBQ and band. It would have been disappointing to have gone out for the evening & missed this event. Also, when we saw it being set up, we initially assumed it was for a private function and not open to all hotel guests. Thankfully we checked with reception & they provided the information needed.
Very clean, good service. Spa was lovely. Breakfast was nice.
Not being able to get any food on a Sunday after 6pm. We arrived after the kitchen had closed and hadn’t eaten all day. There should be snacks available.
Set up of the self catering place but on hotel site was excellent. Really good food at dinner and for breakfast. General environs, great ambience, lovely gardens, views etc. Very chilled.
The carpet in our room was very grotty! Service in and around bar in the evening not great (better in restaurant).
This as ever is my personal favourite to stay. It has everything plus beautiful grounds, views and an excellent location for cycling. The restaurant food and service is superb as is breakfast. I always feel totally relaxed while there.
Absolutely nothing
The location, the gardens, the pool and restaurant were excellent. We could walk along the footpath in to Pornic.
We felt the rooms in comparison to the rest of the hotel were in need of an upgrade.
Breakfast was OK. The hotel was in an excellent location, lovely garden. Relaxing. Unfortunately due to the poor weather we couldn't use what was obviously a nice swimming pool or the local beach.
Very limited, inflexible evening meal dining system - had to have 3 course meal with only 2 choices per course and as I have dietary requirements this was a major problem. I needed to see the menu in and it was only available at 11am on the day by which time the restaurant was full (often with non residents). There should always be food available for residents. We wanted to eat on the last night and they said if we bought a tin or jar of something from their sho they would give us some bread to eat it with!
Location, swimming pool, and we could access our room esrly.
The evening meal was disappointing. Not so much the meal itself but the attention to detail. There were three large work groups in the restaurant. We had a table in the bar area. The cutlery looked as though it was used for camping. Service was haphazard and the menu was limited to two dishes per course. This was far be,owing to the the standard of our previous stays. We felt like second class guests despite an expensive stay.
