Pros +
- The only thing that was okay was that we received a free room upgrade after I complained about the first room. That’s why I gave a score of 2 instead of 1.
- AC charger available as well as DC for Electrical car. Next to the highway, on a trip from NL to France would be convenient.
- Breakfast was better than i expected with very nice people both at the reception and at the restaurant.
Cons -
- The first room had a mosquito infestation, mold in the bathroom, dirty curtains, black spots on the mattress (I suspect bed bugs), humidity issues, and very dirty seating.Considering the price we paid (around €160 for one night), this stay was extremely overpriced.
- Smell of the room, bit outdated. Twin beds.
- in general the structure is quite old fashioned but has all the needed features but i have 2 remarks:1. electrical charger at the hotel was very expensive _ more than double price of a standard charger2. the WC in the room was not clean well (no proof of no-use with some paper in the trash bin).

Location right on the highway was good for our trip.
The rooms were old and in real need of some renovation. Multiple lights in the room were flickering.
Well located for an overnight stay. Dogs accepted. Nice friendly staff.
Some hotel facilities are of age.
Property was convenient on the highway
The heating in the room was not working. I reported and was still not working. Slept in my clothes to keep warm as exhausted
Clean, good comfort.
Warming system needs to be reviewed. Most of all: to ask 10 eur to leave the room 30 minutes later than expected is ridiculous. Means there is greediness in the air.
The hotel was perfect for our stay. Breakfast was great.
The piss smell outside of the truckers, the bar staff didn’t seem to care about serving. Really bad bar staff!
Breakfast was really good, lots of options and good qualityBed was really comfortable
Hotel maintenance can be improved, rooms need refurbishment
Convenient location, excellent breakfast, nice decoration.
Please implement procedures for a quick check out (e.g. paying upon arrival, getting the invoice, and only returning the key quickly in the morning.
Reception staff were friendly.
I have stayed at other Van der Valk Hotels and they have always been outstanding. This hotel however was a huge disappointment, the room is dark, nothing quite worked, only light from two bedside lights, no other light source as the bulbs were all absent. Had a meal at the restaurant, I ordered a salad with fennel, mango and prawns, only lettuce and prawns arrived, had to ask for the fennel and mango, which arrived but was not fresh. Ordered coffee, which never came and I gave up and went to my dimly lit room.
Hotel right next to the highway, ideal for when you are just passing by. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, they really made my stay better!
The hotel is old, and it shows... The beds are old, the carpet, the appliances, the furniture, the bathroom. Particularly the faucets. It's the type that you pull toward you to make it run, and move left to right for the temperature. The shower is kinda small, so hitting the faucet while showering happens quickly, which results in scorching hot water. It doesn't really matter though, the water temperature and pressure do what they like regardless of what temperature you put the faucet on.
Location, candles lit at Reception, Sam (The Receptionist), restaurant’s decor & staff, free parking
Rooms needs some TLC for sure. Booked standard room, shower either scorching hot (burnt my husband!) or freezing cold, shower leaking into the room, toilet brush rather disgusting. Got upgraded to a better room where toilet door doesn’t shut properly and shower playing up. Too tired after a long journey to challenge it. Since being frequent travellers, we wouldn’t book this hotel again. Meal at the restaurant was stodgy, didn’t feel great after eating it at all!
Easy to get there. Good room and comfortable hotel. A bit too soft mattress. But, everything was good.
Too expensive. For the same value of money, I can stay in Switzerland.
The beds were comfortable with soft good quality sheets. The shower had warm water with good pressure
The interior is quite outdated (carpet in bedrooms), the breakfast room was extremely noisy (bad acoustics?).
Quite and comfortable room, breakfast was good and staff were welcoming
My room was old, in bad conditions and stinking to smoke.
My room
Nice room with really comfortable bed
Tricky arrival if the sat nav guides you past the hotel parking
Excellent breakfast
Needed more staff in the restaurant in the evening. Long wait for food
Location, easy to get to, Kettle and supplies plus carton of water. Very helpful restaurant person who spoke english. and lovely meal (salmon & steak). Bar: find a table to be served. There is bike hire and large function areas plus small child play area inside. Own food truck outside. Breakfast ok (bacon, scr. egg, beans hot only, but of plenty of other items) No English breakfast tea only Earl Grey or fruit etc. Coffee/hot water machine. Basic English.
Near the motorway so need to close door to balcony if at front, prob at back too but greener there. Room good, a little worn. Single beds comfy but soft and have seen some wear. Pleased i didnt book a double. Sliding bathroom door.
