    Pros +

    • not much..no reception desk..it was weird dark a phone number on door..I didn't yet have a french phone..my fiend who met me at the train who had warned me not to stay there called and I was able to enter...
    • The owner was very gracious and went well out of his way to make sure my stay was a pleasant one. I booked a single room and it was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The food was delicious and well presented. I will definitely stay here next time I'm in Bergerac, and I recommend L'Escale for comfort, hospitality and value. Also, it is located directly across from the Bergerac train station, very convenient.
    • Not too far from the city center. The bathroom was more or less renovated

    Cons -

    • nearly everything..it was clean.
    • Can't think of anything I didn't like.
    • The bedroom was tiny even when theoretically I got a "free upgrade". Such an upgrade was interesting because, also theoretically, my initial room had a terrace, that this one didn't. The bed was small and I didn't fit. The pillow was the most uncomfortable one I've had in a while. The Wi-Fi was so horrible I had to use mine. There were two towels for three people and no bed tables. No plugs near the beds. Nothing else. No coffee, tea, water, little fridge. Just a TV The neighborhood was not terrible but not great either, kind of a gray city area, and I found an used syringe on the sink of the bathroom at the station in front of the hotel (obviously not the hotels' fault, but it provides an idea on the neighborhood)This would have been somehow understood in a very cheap place, but not for a 100€ place.

It was very close to the train station and also walking distance from the main spots in town. The rooms were spacious and clean. The team at the hotel is amazing and welcoming would highly recommend staying here.

It is a basic hotel, but clean and comfortable. Literally across the street from the train station and 10min walk from the old town. Good value for money.

There was nobody at the reception when we arrived, we had to call someone to open the door. However on the plus side they allowed us early access to the room, to drop off our bags.

    Location, friendliness, comfortable bed, breakfast

Water glasses and bottle of water would be nice.

    5DominicPosted on: 2-25-2025

    Passable

Not great location, far away from shops and restaurants, wrong side of town

    8ElainePosted on: 1-17-2025

Well located at train station. A short walk to shopping area. Friendly and helpful staff.

    9LydiaPosted on: 1-2-2025

The welcome from the management was fantastic and the room was warm and very quiet.

A little bit tired in places, but clean and very comfortable

The man running the inn was great. Very helpful and accommodating.

It doesn't have an elevator, so if you are luging big heavy bags like we were you are in for a challenge.

After a long drive, it was so easy to find. Lots of street parking with a convenience store less than a block away. Nice to have the restaurant next door. There is no need to search out a place to eat.The owner was very friendly and accommodating to my lack of French.

    8FrancesPosted on: 10-28-2024

The staff were quite helpful, particularly on my last morning.

My room was not warm enough. The one towel I had was very very thin.Hot water took too long to arrive in the bathroom.

Very good restaurant for dinner and breakfast.

Bit of a walk to the car parking. Also very vague as to whether or not it was free.. Loads of conflicting signs. No lift, Room adequate but a bit dated.

    7JudithPosted on: 10-18-2024

Convenient for station, clean and good value.

Staff rather preoccupied. Clutter in access to rooms. My room was quite small and the aircon wasn’t working, although an alternative fan was provided.

    9HiroePosted on: 10-15-2024

A very clean & well presented room. Good shower. We are happy with our 2 nights stay. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Location is right in front of the train station & only 10 mins walk to the town.

Would be nice to have tea / coffee making facilities but not a big issue. You can buy drinks downstairs restraint & bring to your room

Nice room, great food, lovely staff.

    8AnthonyPosted on: 10-10-2024

Owner was very friendly. Bike storage was good. Breakfast was reasonable for the price.

    8LaurencePosted on: 10-6-2024

Owner happy to accommodate dietary requirements. Good location. Good value.

    Small room

    9PollyPosted on: 10-3-2024

Very convenient location opposite train station. Welcoming and very helpful host. Good food and friendly atmosphere in bar and restaurant .Just right for an overnight stay.

Although the room and ensuite were fine, my only reservation was that the room was slightly dark.

    2MylenePosted on: 9-24-2024

    Terrible

Very moldy, humid and smelly room that was presented as deluxe double. The bed was terrible, a foam mattress just put on a metallic frame. It was like sleeping on a sponge. The shower was leaking, the washbasin was not emptying. The courtyard view was a view of a moldy wall. See photo. We did not see anyone at reception on for check in or check out.
