Hostel San Matteo

Cool spot.

The staff, rude and apathetic. Electricity in the plugs didn’t work. No remote for the TV. Window opened by folding in half and swings open like a death trap. Shower, well let’s say it’s a standing bath with no glass or curtain. Closet door broken and off the hinges. If you are sleeping with two people in the bed, you will know that the other person is breathing.

The hotel was very friendly with good staff and clean, the building and fixtures are a little tired.

Pizza

Broken toilet with no toilet lid. Hot water in the shower was running out yellow and rusty even after ten minutes. Furniture is severely outdated (straight from the seventies) and so is the hotel (bare wires hanging from the walls and stuff like that). Hotel manager was watching reels/tiktok aloud while I was having breakfast, in the same room...

Bad

Avoid this place at all costs. I booked a 4-person room through Booking.com for single occupancy. Upon arrival, I discovered that I was given a 2-person room despite having confirmation for a 4-person one. I’ve never seen rooms this dirty. it seemed like they were never cleaned. The only positive was the relatively friendly staff.

I liked the location for its access to excellent hiking trails (great skiing if winter).

Well, there was a shower towel that looked quite dirty, but was actually clean (just not bleached maybe). They substituted it without a fuss.

Elio runs the place. He and his wife make great effort to make you feel at home. The food is really good..

The building is a bit dated. Carpets and soft furnishings could be improved. But overall good value for money.

Everything was exceptional. Host people very nice, the location is great, food delicious, ski slopes very near. It was a wonderful ski vacation. For sure we'll return. Thank you!

Nothing to complain about

The food was amazing. Traditional Italy homemade food. I would definitely go back there because of the food. Beautiful place with lovely views and lots of ski options around.

Good location in the center of the village, mountain view, clean rooms, and helpful service with checkin and checkout. The owners were attentive to dietary allergies and modified the dinner menus (and the dinner and breakfasts were good)
