- LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION... Wake up abo e the clouds. Legitimately one of the best experiences of my life
- excellent stay: quiet room, easy parking, elevator; snack bar open in evening; very nice breakfast
- The breakfast was great!
Cons -
- Hotel restaurant is VERY expensive for what you get. The buffet in the hotel was 60 Euros for 2 people. For Portugal that is a LOT, but the food was average at best. Breakfast was included, but still, just a basic breakfast
- Our room, #210, was super cold and there was no option to heat it. Even though at night the temperature outside dropped to -2 degrees. The guy at the reception said that it wasn't a heating season yet..Also for the, first time in my life I was forced to wear a bathing cap, otherwise one is not allowed to use the swimming pool. What?? Why?
- Breakfast was ok, only one type of bread: white !!! A small election of buns available. Horrible coffee, probably the worse coffee we ever had anywhere. Staff was willing to help but nothing else is available.

Lovely place, comfortable, located on top of mountain at 1400m altitude, fabulous view, but one needs to drive several km to the nearest town for anything one might need, like good coffee, highly impractical !!

I really wanted to be able to give this hotel 10/10. The staff were lovely. Polite, efficient and welcoming. The location is stunning. The breakfast was very good and the bar food we ordered was good and very reasonably priced considering you're at the top of a mountain. Great amenities and they work hard to make sure you enjoy your stay.
I was disappointed that the bed mattresses were not comfortable. I was also disappointed that the lighting in the hotel grounds at night was so bright. I was actually shocked that the lighting was so out of character for the location. It's called Serra da Estrela for a reason and I was really looking forward to some star gazing. That wasn't possible from the hotel grounds. What a missed opportunity for their guests.
Clean and cozy space in a good location. Good amenities. Nice space in the room
The restaurant is just too expensive. 30 euros for dinner without drinks is just not visible. Besides, the bath was not hot and it did not pour that much water.
Really enjoyed the pool. Bar and separate restaurant were great options
normal breakfast, good service, good bed
old noisy floors, safe was broken, mold in bathtub
Great breakfast with lots of options.Spacious rooms. Parking onsite.
Location had amazing views and staff was very kind and helpful to the group I was traveling with. Pool looked great, but because it was indoor, cap required; however, some of my group was able to take a ride to partner LunaHotel a short distance down the road and use the outdoor pool there which was wonderful because while we were there, the temps were unusually high with heatwave; so this was a plus for us. Restaurante Medieval in the hotel was wonderful, food was good and everyone was very welcoming and kind. We were able to take a tour with Manuel who is related to the gift shop in the front of the hotel, highly recommend the tour as we were able to see so much more of area with a guide - the roads are very narrow as you go higher and around the Serra, so tour guide is recommended and worth it. The views are one wonderful view after another and we had a great 3 hour tour that I highly recommend.
Okay, so I have a double edge on this one - because everyone in my family (except for me) had spacious rooms. I booked 5 rooms (standard) and they did upgrade one of our rooms to have a great view, which I appreciated. Two of our rooms had to be moved since the air conditioning was not working well; For the two moved, one couple got moved to a spectacular family room and the other another standard with a/c working, it was appreciated because the A/C was important since the weather was unusually hot. Although happy that my family was taken care of, I was also very upset and felt like I was lied to at the front desk - When we first booked, I booked 5 rooms and there were 10 travelers. Unfortunately, one of our group was not able to attend the trip. So when I arrived, I asked if there was any way to replace two standard rooms with a family room for three, so that my aunt would not need to be in a room alone. I was kindly told by the attendant that the hotel was fully booked and they were not able to make that change for me. Not even an hour later when my sister's room air conditioning was not working a family room suddenly became available and they moved her to a two bedroom room that would have worked great to have my daughters and aunt all together in one room. On one hand I was happy that they were able to move my sister and her husband to a wonderful room, but I felt as though the young man at the front desk had right out lied to me with a smile on his face. My room 215 was the worst of all - One of the things that I look for in the photos is the bathroom - photos for standard room looked very spacious and that is important to me; However room 215 looked nothing like the other standard rooms; The bed was hard and uncomfortable the bathroom was like a small closet. At this point, they had already moved two of my sisters and their husbands, so I didn't complain, but I did not enjoy my stay here.
Bar afternoon snack was very good. The bartender made me a DELICIOUS cappuccino with oatmilk!Front desk staff were very kind and accommodating.
There was noise from a family with kids right outside my room at 10:45 pm!
The best thing about our stay is the hotel staff who were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is tired, dark and gloomy. The hall carpet runs all needed a good clean or replaced. Our bedroom red carpet was too old and dirty. The hotel needs a complete refurbishment. It doesn't deserve any star rating let alone a 4-star rating.
Hotel location is great for relaxing with the mountain climate, fresh air, near hiking trails and wonderful views from the hotel as well as its surroundings.Breakfast quality is superb, staff were very friendly, room is aged, but very special and had everything working perfectly.
If anything, I'd say parts of the hotel could be modernized. This being said, hotel was fully functional, despite being a little old looking.
The suite room was quite comfortable, the room temperature was easy to adjust. The staff was very friendly.
The hotel needed some work, the suite had the painting peeling off, we killed a large cockroach inside the room. The medieval restaurant was very expensive, with low quality buffet food, so we ended up dining at the hotel across the street. We expected a nice view from the room windows, but it was mostly the parking lot and the bungalows from another hotel
The location, the breakfast and the large room
There was a chimney by the window of the room, which led to some smells. Also the room could have a bit more illumination available
Very good location
Very expensive for what they offer, found bugs in the room, not very clean, bathroom was very smelly
Staff and location
Facilities are a bit old and lacking maintenance
Proper 100% cotton sheets and no “air fresheners” or fragrances in the room. Great breakfast.
The heated swimming pool. In the heart of the mountain. Good breakfast.
Had to pay 5 € for the compulsory use of the swimming CAP with the logo of the hotel and that was Not advertised before the arrival. No carpets in the Room floor. No amenities.
Everything was fine with the pool the bathroom and the breakfast was great aswell as the location.
The hole under our door connecting the room to the hallway. We could hear everything and it gave a sense of insecure privacy.
