Hotel Rural El Refugio

Its location is excellent and it is close to many trails. The hotel has a limited number of parking spots, but a large free parking is just 100m away. The breakfast is OK, but could be better. A resturant is attached to the hotel where they serve the breakfast (doesn't seem to belong to the hotel). The food quality was excellent but the volume of food was low.

This hotel is a true refuge. My room was clean and well-appointed and the grounds had ample space inside and out for relaxing. As well, it is a great jumping-off point for many hikes in the area.

Fantastic location for hiking trails with breathtaking views. The room was comfortable, clean with a decent hot shower which was welcome after a day on the trails. The communal area with free tea and coffee all day is a lovely touch and ideal place to read and take in the views. I also loved the easy to use vending machine for snacks and beer/wine.The food in the restaurant is also excellent so make sure to book a table for dinner.

Location, warm shower, breakfast and you have coffee or tea for free whole time.

Weird smell in our room and it was little bit cold, but you have radiator in the room, but it doesnt help that much.

First of all thanks for the weekend, we realy enjoyed the property and the area. Then, the weather was not the best, foggy, cold, rainy,... (Nothing to blame for the property) But we missed that they started the chimney. But for that everything else was perfect. Note: maybe puffy bed covers (ikea style) would have made the bed more comfortable? Appart from that all perfect. ALSO we would like to highlight the dinner, omg

Room was fine as were shared facilities. The outdoor area could do with a Spring clean!

Lovely hot shower, firm comfortable bed. Plentiful breakfast and decent evening dining options. Great views, especially from the salon. Friendly and welcoming staff.

A bit of condensation in rooms but that's owing to the cooler weather. I was a bit cold at night.

Phenomenonal location for hiking and biking. Nice fresh breakfast. Basic hotel - great value.

Great location. Alpine lodge vibe made it feel cosy. Breakfast was basic but no complaints, fresh scrambled egg made to order. Restaurant was fine for evening meal, but quite rich. You can go to the restaurant at Parador for a dinner with a view over the mountains.

No soap, only sachets of gel.

Small things like the radiator screen should have some cover since it lights up the room a lot; bathroom floor gets very wet after shower. Price is a bit high for what you get but it is a remote location and high season so it's still reasonable.

The staff is very helpful, I don’t remember the name of the guy at the restaurant but very pleasant person who also helped us with tips and suggestions during our stay there.Although small, the breakfast options are good. I can recommend having dinner at the restaurant, very tasty food menu (be sure to make a reservation in advance).

The room could have been cleaner, I could see that they had not vacuumed properly along the walls and under the bed.

Superb location with incredible views just outside. Great start point for many hikes. Clean and cosy hotel with a relaxed vibe. Excellent homemade food in the restaurant for dinner. Staff were really nice and helpful. Would 100% stay again.

Room and bathroom was a little basic but absolutely fine for a hiking trip. Pillows a bit hard but not a major issue.

So happy I have been here. GREAT location for hikes, the sunset from the nearby viewpoint was one of the best views I have ever seen and the French lady managing the restaurant is extremely nice. Love it there!

Excellent restaurant and location

Brilliant location.. next to Paradores (visit their terrace to see the sunset). Spectacular. The room is very large, rustic style. We had one heater in the room (in January it is chilly- so a light down jacket is recommended - actually everywhere on the island in the evening). There is a tiny basic kitchen the bathroom was newly done and fresh. There is a restaurant at the property that was very good albeit simple. Be aware of opening hours. The Parador seems to have an excellent choice on their menu, not excessively expensive but the Refugio is cheaper.

Cold in the room (I was prepared but my partner was sick and froze. The personnel could be better informed on how to access the Roque Nuble, although you kind of figure it out when driving up.

The location is very good for starting point of hiking.

The rooms are a bit dated and the bathroom could do with an update.

The setting in the mountains is nice. The small restaurant is cosy and breakfast is okay.But, and a very big but, beds are hard and uncomfortable. The room was dark and cold without possibility to adjust the temperature yourself.

Thank you, Ivan and team. What a perfect, relaxing getaway I had at Hotel Rural el Refugio! Everything was perfect, the suite room was huge and had everything I needed to relax, Cook, make coffee which we provided etc. Heater was great for cozy evenings. There was a lovely terrace outside my room where I enjoyed coffee every morning. The hotel is so tranquil, the pool was beautiful and so peaceful. You are literally right on 2 hiking trails so no need to travel to the trails. I hiked everyday to watch the sunset not far from the hotel. The views are spectacular! The best part about my stay was the outstanding hospitality from Ivan and his staff. I felt so welcome and it really was the highlight of my time in gran canaria. Thank you!!!

Location and grounds

The pillows were like sausages and too high. No normal pillow. Ant infestation. I understand it is in the mountains - maybe leave a spray.
