    Pros +

    • Expert staff, secluded grounds (pool and gardens), room and bed comfort, elegance & luxury of the property, service, it's all top notch
    • The hotel staff were top notch and made us feel welcome from the start. The building itself was a former palace and felt like it. Simply wonderful.
    • The level of service was beyond 5 stars. They were there for everything.

    Cons -

    • Not really. It's dated but in a marvelous historical way.
    • Not really, it was a fantastic experience.
    • Was shocked to observe that the waiters had a sense of arrogance and were treating guests with disdain. Would expect them to be trained to respect customer needs and be more service oriented.

Beautiful hotel set in a restored palace.

Beautiful property. So elegant. Very old Palace.

No gym. Slow service to get a drink, pool service was practically non existent when the pool was busy. We would walk up to the restaurant to buy drinks, there was no one in the restaurant, we were surprised staff wasn’t down at the pool serving guest.

It felt magical. Very well maintained, cleand and with all details proper to a Palace. We were treated like royalty.

It’s just a recommendation: to add full body mirrors in the room.

It’s so beautiful. The staff were kind and attentive. There was a lovely piano player, stefano, on Christmas Eve. He sang and played our favorite songs which felt festive and welcoming. The bed was super comfortable. The view was amazing. Breakfast was a very rich spread.

Everything was great. Real five star service

    8NicolePosted on: 11-12-2025

Staff were very attentive and the breakfast Buffet was beautifully set out.

Our room was a little noisy with the terrace and rest room below

Beautiful, historic place. Exceptionally clean. Great down pillows! Fabulous staff - very friendly and very helpful. Excellent breakfast! Beautiful grounds, great views!

The room would have been perfect if it had two lounge chairs by the table at foot of the bed.

From the moment I walked into the breakfast room, I was awed by the beauty of the layout and the fresh beautiful fruits. The staff, from the time I first arrived until I left, were so amazing and I felt like they were dear friends. The views from the property were the best. I’ve had Sintra on my bucket list for 20 years and it did not disappoint.

I hated to have to leave…

    location

Not well maintained Paint peeling off the ceiling above our table on the dining room. Windows don’t close properly creating draft while having dinner. Beds too small. Upgrade desperately required

    Beautiful regal location, nice breakfast

Not in the best area, have to go around mountain to leave

    Wasted Time

Driving to Sintra is a nightmare. There were hoards of people congregating around the gates to enter the hotel. We couldn’t tell where the hotel entrance was and passed it. There is only one way in and one way out so because we missed it we had to then sit again in 90 minutes worth of traffic. We ended up driving back to Lisbon instead and completely wasted our money. Don’t recommend it unless you are taking a train.

    NO AC extremely hot,

NO AC extremely hot, they said it was broken and gave me a fan at 3am

Location is amazing, palace very beautiful, great views, good internet, good shower/bath. Very very nice breakfast with lovely breakfast staff.Nice fast internet.

Staff were not organised at all. We had to call reception multiple times and go there multiple times to try and book massages as they never returned our calls or queries.Biggest issue - the hotel does NOT have air conditioning in the rooms. It was 25 degrees Celsius in the room when we arrived, we called reception when it became clear the room control was heating and circulation only, no cooling, but reception did not return our call. Upon calling again we were told maintenance would come next day, so we asked to change room. They didn't have another room with AC, but they did move us to a different room that was a bit fresher and was acceptable for the stay. Absolutely horrendous considering it's supposed to be a luxury 5 star palace hotel.

Not only friendly and helpful, staff was patient and smart. Inviting me as a guest to the ballet on the London Ballet on the lawn resurrected my vacation.

Easier access to and service at the cafe restaurant.

We liked the location - about 20 min walk into town center but very quiet, the staff was wonderful and the room we had was really beautiful

    10JosephPosted on: 5-6-2025

We had an amazing stay in this beautiful palace. The architecture, gardens, and staff were exceptional.

    Nothing to not like

    10LawrencePosted on: 4-23-2025

We felt truly spoilt when we’re welcomed by the front staff with typical Lisbon drinks and snacks. We hadn’t booked some tickets to the palaces and the concierge (sorry I forgot your name) promptly booked them and our restaurant for lunch. He provided us with information about sintra and gave us a tour of the hotel. We spotted their white peacock on their property. Gorgeous Breakfast and our sunny room with a view was wonderful. The staff was exceptional. Perfect location for visiting sintra Thank you for taking care of us.

The hotel itself is magical! It was nested in a beautiful garden full of trees and birds. The pool is beautiful and heated, perfect for a dip if it gets too hot.

The staff were not the friendliest. At breakfast, we were surprised that we were not allowed to order any bottles of water. I had to take my medicine which I needed to dissolve in a bottle of water, and even after I explained multiple times, they were very adamant on only giving me a cup of water. Not sure what their issue is with the bottles of water, maybe they wanted us to purchase the bottles from the room service? The hotel is at the upper price bracket, so water bottles shouldn't be a point of contention.
