Pros +
- This charming 15th-century building has been beautifully restored as a wonderful hotel. The place oozes history. The rooms are gorgeous, and the dining settings are exceptional.
- it was beautiful- lots of gorgeous art. my room had beautiful ave maria tile art right next to the bed and a great patio overlooking some gardens. shower was great- bed was comfy. the breakfast buffet fruit was great- but the eggs were not (see below).
- It was nice to see the historic property
Cons -
- they were doing construction so during the day there were loud noises. the entire center area of the hotel was walled off due to this construction. the pool was closed (for the construction) but i we had 70 degree days- i think they should have held off on construction until past the Spanish holiday season (after 10/12) and had the pool open for such warm weather. my sink was clogged- i asked it to be fixed twice and no one did it while i was there for 2 days. finally- similar to the other parador i stayed at- the breakfast buffet is amazing with the fruit and tea- but the eggs you order that are made order are not real eggs. they are eggs from a carton or box- and have a very funny gross taste. i found this really weird for such a high end hotel that they would not use fresh, real eggs. the buffet is a lot of meat, cheese, pastries and sweets. some kids kind of cereal in a box. the only thing really healthy was the fruit :(
- The room was a bit odd with a desk in a loft area that just ate space up., so the room ends up tiny. The pool was full with no seats for us. A long wait to check out while another customer seemed to have some issues with her pool towels. Additional staff could help.
- Limited number of TV chanels and no coffee or tea making in the room.

Being told there was no menu for the evening meal as we wanted to check vegan options ,( when later found one on a lectern), relying on the receptionist and finding there were no vegan options, got charged for the foie gras that was not included with a plate of leeks and the food was just warm.
The hotel is in an awkward place not helped by the centre being closed caution required on a motorcycle. The rooms are all over the place with two different lifts making room access long and possibly complicated. The bar staff were miserable as if they did not want to be there. Reception staff were incredibly helpful.
The facilities, the location and the staff.
The coffee. No complementary water supplied in the room.
We arrived on a motorbike very wet and cold and had problems with no Spanish getting the barrier to the car park lifted, which didn’t put me in the best of spirits

Building going on
A classic Parador is in a fabulous setting next door to the main square, the monastery, and convenient parking. We had breakfast (don't miss the traditional blood sausage) in the main square, admiring the magnificent monastery.
We didn't get a view of the cathedral, but maybe next time.
Lovely atmosphere, great location, staff, and excellent meal
Only criticism is that plates for main course were cold, so food went cold quickly.
Property was very historic and beautiful. The location could not be any better. The restaurant was also excellent. Be sure to get the room you paid for as our first room was not as expected. They graciously moved us to a superior room with balcony and a view. We visited in January which is low season and there were no crowds.
Everything was as expected. Some restaurants were closed due to low season.
Wonderful building in the most amazing location
My room had a smoker in previously. Window view was no existent, however, description was pool view!
Classic Parador in a fabulous setting. Great views of the village and church. Breakfast very good, staff excellent as were the rooms. Third list and will be back.
Excellent location, beautiful room with great views and relaxed bar
The only factor which didnt earn the Parador 10/10 was the pool being closed. We would have loved a swim with those surroundings.
This Parador is an absolute gem. One to put high on your list to stay at. The courtyard is filled with small delicate lemon trees laden with fruit ...a mini garden of Eden. These do not detract from the whitewashed arches of the former school and hospital de Infantes. There are a whole series of elegant sitting rooms with beautiful tiling commissioned by the architect who was in charge of the restoration. Not to be missed at the back is the beautifully planned modern garden which is now a mature garden in its own right. We were allocated a lovely room overlooking a church and part of the Guadalupe Cathedral. This was very comfortable and had a toilet with the amenities you required.
On arrival our reservation could not be found. The young receptionist was learning the ropes. Eventually it was found and we were listed on the print out as having our breakfast included (which, incidentally was exceptionally good). This I queried. I then thought it had been added as a courtesy due to the earlier problem. When we checked out this was listed as an item for us to pay at 20 Euros per person (reduced to 15 per person). Personally I didn't think this was reasonable but for the sake of the trainee I paid, + the rather expensive parking fee. Subsequently we spoke to a more senior receptionist who clearly knew her stuff, but by this point things had progressed so much there was little to be done. This would not prevent me from returning to this beautiful little haven with its lovely lemon trees in the courtyard and the carefully arranged olive grove in the rear garden.
Own parking, great location next door to the monastery and by the main square full of restaurants, very comfortable room/bed, decent breakfast, friendly and welcoming staff.
As expected with a parador, the hotel is situated in a medieval building. There are many rooms, the breakfast hall is quite magnificent and the rooms surrounding the patio are very cosy - there is one with a large fireplace and comfortable salon. But that's all the charm you'll get.The rooms are fairly large. The bathroom is small, but equipped with everything you need. Whoever needs a bidet ?The breakfast buffet was really good; there are a number of salty and sweet plates to try, both hot and cold. There is even champagne, good coffee, freshly made pancakes (from their kitchen, not out of one of those "do it yourself"-machines).The parador is practically in front of the church, which is well worth the visit - but take the guided tour!
The building is extremely old and not very comfortable to stay at. There are long corridors one after another and many small steps/stairs on the way to the furthest rooms - which, of course, we had. The wooden ceilings and flooring have their charm, but the doors seem like they were carved directly from a tree. Some people might like this (Swiss Alps chalet-style), but this is one hotel where I really wondered whether the door would stay shut - it had an old, big key to open the even older lock. Cracks underneath the door which fits a small cat ?The rooms are fairly large but have very outdated furniture. They are old and need refurbishments.Dinner is French cuisine, so nothing for vegans at all, but vegetarians might enjoy a good soup or vegetable pasta - again.Besides, this was one of the few hotels we stayed at in central Spain where the restaurant charges you for the bread at dinner - and it's not that special! Breakfast would have been nice to have more than one staff member to serve everyone in the room and take their orders. It's really good quality, but you'll have to wait awfully long for some milk alongside your freshly made (and in the meantime, cold) pot of coffee...And not really specifically for this hotel, but I 'd like to mention it here because of its price class and 'exquisite feel' for native Spaniards, I do would like to argue that, yes, perhaps it might be necessary, or call it 'contemporary', to have staff members in this kind of place that speak another language besides Castilian/Spanish. Come on!
We had no view. Walls did not block out the noise of phone Alarms ringing in the bedroom beside mine.
Paying for the car park!
Great location and building
The wifi was not working. When we mentioned this to the receptionist we were told that it was perhaps because of the weather (it was raining a bit) and anyway they did not know what to do about it.Next sunny day it was still not working of course. The new receptionist at least tried to do something about it but it would not get fixed during our stay.In the end we complained that this was not what we paid for and only then some small compensation was given, which we happily accepted.
