    Pros +

    • This was hands down the best experience of our vacation in Greece! Everyone was friendly, our little Hobbit House, as we fondly termed it, was amazing & the town was beyond words. Thank you for making our trip!
    • It was like staying in a castle from some fairy tale. Deck overlooked the ocean and the sunrise was amazing - so were the stars at night. The place was super clean and the town is a delight.
    • Location is amazing, property is on the main street within the walls so you walk to and from very effortless. Breakfast is on the same building on ground floor, pretty sweet, considering your staying on a castle. Bathroom is very well equipped. Staff is very very friendly and supportive.

    Cons -

    • Water bottles available to purchase and keep in our rooms.
    • The actual room was NOT nearly as close to the entrance of the town as the website claimed. - only the check in desk. This means getting your luggage over cobblestone roads and up and down a fair number of stairs was quite difficult. We are a fit family with 20 yr sons, so we could manage - but check in was not easy. In fairness, I don’t know how this could be avoided given the city itself. Tourists are best advised to take their essentials for the night and leave the rest in the car - as this town takes only 1 day to fully experience.
    • Big living space, but the bedroom is on the same large space with the living room. Kitchen equipment was basic. For the open space size, it must have a large television!

The stay is average for this price level.

The room is quite small with bed by the wall makes it hard to sleep well.

The room was exceptionally nice: clean, spacious, very well lit. The view was excellent, there was a very large porch you could sit and enjoy Sunset and Sunrise and stare both at the Mediterranean sea and the rock Monemvasia sits on.The stuff were exceptionally nice and energetic with the largest smiles and just amazing.

Absolutely everything from the magnificent ancient castle, which has been inhabited since 600 AD, to the warm friendly welcoming greeting by Leone, to our comfortable fabulous room and the delish breakfast, everything was perfect.

    Not a single thing.

    1. The outstanding breakfast with high-quality local products.2. The sea view from the balcony..

    1. The size of the room.

The view is breathtaking (we had a shared courtyard area, but the views from the windows were amazing, too), the room was so quaint with antique-looking furniture and little touches like a rocking chair in an alcove. The breakfasts were phenomenal, with homemade savory and sweet Greek dishes. It was simply magical and relaxing.

It's not a complaint for us, but the walk to the room can be challenging for those with mobility issues. It's a cobblestone walkway and is set back from the shops (though they are all very close).

We had a wonderful stay at Malvasia! The room was beautiful, and the view was stunning. Breakfast was really good as well. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would definitely recommend it.

The only downside for me was that the room let in some light through the balcony door in the early morning.

Location, location, location. It’s so nice to be in the castle fortress. The breakfast was served at the hotel at the other end of the “village” which was a pleasant walk.We really enjoyed the atmosphere, walks all the way to the top, and beautiful views. Beautiful at night. Everything is in walking distance.

Very comfortable except that ceilings and doorways are very low and space is determined by the ancient structures, so it can be a bit tight, but we knew that. It’s not really a complaint. Unloading luggage and parking can be difficult. You may need to drop off bags, park a long, long way down the hill, and walk back up to the entry. There are porters to carry your bags to your accommodations if needed. Again: not really a complaint, it goes with the setting.

View from our balcony and nice breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Private and quiet.

Amazing views from the Balconies, very good breakfast, clean property.

Smell coming from the Kitchen and early morning noise.

    10LarryPosted on: 4-12-2025

The reception staff are extremely friendly, gracious and helpful. The experience of living in the warren of small streets and alleys is so intriguing and charming. The breakfast buffet was delicious with the fresh orange juice being a special highlight. The whole thing was a special experience.
