About

The hotel is centrally located and surrounded by a large park. You will find a cheerful and familiar atmosphere combined with the best Swiss hotel tradition. Our guests enjoy a spacious hotel lobby, a cozy library for quiet moments, and a children’s playroom. The indoor swimming pool invites you to relax after an active day, while the sauna, infrared cabin, and cold-dip pool provide additional wellness experiences. In the morning, you can enjoy your breakfast in our beautiful nostalgic Art Nouveau dining room, with a generous buffet offering a wide selection of fresh products. In the evening, we serve a 4-course dinner menu on request, or you may choose our rustic à-la-carte restaurant with seasonal regional specialties (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays). Biking and skiing are available in the surrounding area, and for younger guests there is also a children’s playground in our park.

    Cons -

    • The bed mattresses and pillows are a bit suboptimal

The location, very close to train, and not too far from the gondola station. The breakfast was really good. Also free luggage storage and free bottles of water!

The shower room set up. The water keeps splashing out and makes the entire bathroom floor wet.

Location, the view from window, hospitality and kids liked the swimming pool.

Great location to start our hike. Very comfortable room. Authentic atmosphere. Very clean

The location in the middle of town is incredible. The included breakfast was one of the best ones I’ve had in Europe. The room was very clean. The bathroom was updated. I traveled with my adult daughter and we had two beds.

    Really nothing to complain about.

I loved the historic feel of the hotel and the rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and the indoor pool was wonderful. The attached restaurant, Ritter, was the best food we had while in Kanderstag.

    7KunalPosted on: 9-5-2025

excellent location, awesome view from the room, vicinity to public transport (both train and bus), supermarkets closeby

Breakfast at this pricepoint was bad or way below average, very limited hot menu and it was same everyday, lot of focus on ambience of the place but has a lot of room for improvement when it comes to cooking and designing the menu. The dinner restaurant also remains closed on Monday and Tuesday, and since the room does not have any microwave facility, we could not get any ready to eat food from nearby supermarkets as well.

Great value for money hotel! A bit tired and needs a refurbishment but clean. Fabulous breakfast and dinner (at the Ritter restaurant)! Clean and nice indoor pool (warm water) and sauna. Very good location (5 mins train station, 10 to the cable car). Underground parking. Playroom and outdoor playground for kids. But, the best of all, are the people. Friendly and helpful, far above the Swiss standard. It's our second visit and not the last for sure.

The xtra guest beds and pillows need an update but it's really minor.

Great location. Nice staff. Very clean. Very spacious room.

The bed wasn't so comfortable (personal opinion), weak water flow at the shower, weak wifi couldn't use it.

very classic, very nice and breakfast was amazing

Didn’t work really well for us that planned mostly things in Grindewald, so we needed to take 1h drive + parking each day. So I might return to this place if I’m doing things in Kandersteg area

Located close to train station, groceries and cable car to Oeschinensee. Friendly lady at check-in. Large room. Beautiful location.

While eating at nice breakfast buffet, we watched a female worker picking her nose over and over looking in the big mirror in the dining hall. We lost our appetite. She should go to a bathroom.

    9Cheuk M.Posted on: 8-17-2025

Convenient location, near trail start for Oeschinensee lake, nice room, newly renovated bathroom

The single glass door in the shower is little awkward. Have to be very careful not to spray water outside the shower.

    9HaleyPosted on: 8-4-2025

beautiful rustic hotel located steps from the downtown area and a ten minute walk to the oeschinensee cable car. The breakfast was amazing, the staff were super friendly as well

not a modern hotel, so if that’s what you’re looking for, I don’t think you’ll find it here!

    9JenniferPosted on: 7-29-2025

The hotel is a short walk from the train station and conveniently located in the town. We had a corner room (apartment) with amazing views out of the back and the side of our room. We loved having two separate bedrooms with a door between them. Beds were comfortable and cozy, breakfast was very good, and the room was clean. We did swim in the pool one afternoon. I suspect that the pool is not heated because it was quite cold which might feel nice on a hot day but was too cold the day we were in it.

It would be nice to have a small refrigerator in the room. Also, there was a landline phone in the room but it didn't work. We didn't plan to use it but why have it there if it doesn't work?

    7LeticiaPosted on: 7-29-2025

The lady in the front desk on the day we arrived was very rude. She was not helpful at all and she messed up with our rooms. Very poor service from her. The other members of the staff were great.

Great views to the mountains and waterfalls. Relatively quiet rooms. Clean. Good breakfast.

    8SebastianPosted on: 7-10-2025

Central Location Spectacular view of the mountains Close to restaurants and shops Good breakfast Sauna was great after a long day hiking Staff were friendly and helpful

the toilet was not cleaned properly when we arrived in the room which was not great to look at. The room was a bit small but great view. The shower was too small and uncomfortable

    10FregozoPosted on: 7-8-2025

First, I loved the location. It was easy to find it. Second, the member staff was so nice. She gave us a beautiful and clean bedroom with a terrace and we have spectacular views. The inside pool is huge and clean. The restaurant is beautiful and the breakfast is good. We have a good stay.
