About

Sheltered by the magnificent landscape of the Vera and Tiétar Valley, this hotel is set in a castle dating from the 15th century – perfect for a peaceful break in the Extremaduran countryside. The ancient stone walls, courtyards and towers of the Parador de Jarandilla de la Vera have hosted many historic figures through the centuries, including the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles V. Its careful renovation maintained its Medieval feel while adding more modern features such as an outdoor swimming pool. Here you can cool off after enjoying the sunshine in the pretty grounds. The hotel is surrounded by lakes and forests of oak and chestnut. This amazing setting makes it ideal for those who enjoy tranquility and outdoor activities such walking, cycling, horseback riding. Finish off your relaxing day in the hotel restaurant, where you can try the delicious local cuisine offered.

Beautiful courtyard and grounds. Clean and bathroom modern. Staff was nice.

Room smelled musty but probably to be expected in an old castle.

    10PatriciaPosted on: 10-4-2024

Very friendly staff, comfortable and clean. The best parador I have stayed in. Fabulous building, magical.

The building works going on.I like a lie in on holiday. If you are an early riser it won't bother you.

It's history, it's restaurant. The service was impeccable. Dinner on the terrace was delightful. The half board deal was value for money.

    10AlisonPosted on: 9-18-2024

Beautiful hotel, great location & wonderful facilities. Delicious food and good value for money. Thank you team Parador.

    Nothing .

    9DylanPosted on: 9-16-2024

The breakfast food was great. The building and especially the courtyard was stunning.

Breakfast was lovely but it was unclear if we could just sit or had to be seated which was kind of awkward. The rooms themselves were very outdated and not as nice as we were expecting them to be for the price of the hotel.

    9TonyPosted on: 9-11-2024

Apart from it being cool to stay in a 15th century castle, the key feature of the hotel for us was the beautiful courtyard. A really easy place to sit and hang out. The room was great, and food service was also good.

    Nothing to say here really.

    10MichaelPosted on: 9-7-2024

Staying in an old castle was amazing, the staff were lovely, the walks were amazing and the town itself was really nice.I have stayed in a lot of paradors and the staff were the best of all the paradors

We didn't have any negative issues

Everything about it - location, ambiance, swimming pool, food

    10RichardPosted on: 6-30-2024

Picturesque location. The views were amazing. Walking around the inside of this old Castle was far from, "I can not believe I'm here" Very romantic from the grounds to the Courtyard to the Restaurant. Wonderful...!!!!

The surrounding area, there's not much to do.

    Good was good

VERY noisy! We had room facing gardens. Friday night kids outside until early hours. Saturday was a wedding - full blast music until 3 plus kids in the gardens again. No sleep. There seems to be members of the public wandering about everywhere despite signs that gardens and pool are only for guests. Not a place if you want peace and quiet

    10GuyPosted on: 5-31-2024

Full of character and great location. Easy and free parking. Wonderful countryside.

    8PeterPosted on: 3-12-2024

Very comfortable Parador with a good restaurant. Close and accessible for the monastery at Yuste. Good place to stay if visiting this region of Spain. Good free WiFi.

We had no complaints. All was fine.

Comfy beds, great variety of breakfast and location

Heating was not working properly and even when switching it off, it continued heating the room so at the end we had to open the windows during the night as it could reach 28 degrees…

    10JanPosted on: 2-2-2024

The best parador I have stayed at with spacious rooms, great restaurant and good service

No coffee machine in the room

    9JenniferPosted on: 12-4-2023

Great location for walking into the mountains. Very easy to find with easy parking.Impressive building.

No lounge area indoors. Cafeteria was cramped with small windows.

    7SylviaPosted on: 10-28-2023

Location in the town, buildings were atmospheric, our room was spacious and bathroom was luxurious( though the bath was slippery for showering). Most staff were very helpful.

Faulty heating? In late Oct our room (103) was hot (thermostat read 25c). We asked to change room but receptionist was reluctant and we did not insist. We were advised to turn off heating which we did but we spent 2 days with window open, often fully. We discovered for ourselves that the boiler for the hotel was under our room! The supper started at 8.30pm and breakfast 8.15am. There was a good snack bar, but food was quite salty for our taste and quite expensive (burger 15 euros) and no desserts.
