About
Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Sierra Nevada National Park, this rural hotel offers spectacular views of the mountains and is just a short drive from monumental Granada. The Juan Francisco offers a charming setting for your visit to the Andalusian countryside. It combines traditional amenities, such as a lounge with historic fireplace, with more modern facilities like the outdoor swimming pool. Dine in the hotel’s own restaurant and enjoy the selection of local specialties. You can then finish off the day with a drink in the welcoming bar, or out on the scenic terrace. Spend your day by the nearby Genil River, where you can enjoy activities ranging from fishing to canoing. The many historic sights of ancient Granada, including the magnificent Alhambra, are just 10 miles away while the Sierra Nevada ski resort is 12 miles from the hotel.

- This older hotel in the Center of this unique hotel had a lot of class The building and interior of this hotel was decorated with classThe balcony provided beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the old villageGood assortment of restaurants within close walking distances Easy parking right at the hotel made the stay very enjoyable Good price on afternoon beers at the comfortable outside lounge attached to the hotel
- A great place to stay. Staff are excellent and as a solo traveler I was very well looked after. Breakfast was a bonus and very tasty. Guejar Sierra is my favorite place to visit when skiing in the Sierra Nevada. Loved the fire in the bar and the hot shower plus secure parking.
- I have stayed here many times and as always. Great value. Friendly helpful staff. Great home cooked food. Friendly locals. Location 1 minute walk to the pretty village square. Comfy warm beds and parking ?
Cons -
- I was lead to believe that it wasn’t too far fromThe Sierra Nevada skiing area. It took about 45min to get there. Which was a lot longer than we thought Also we had no access to any WiFi And our nights stay was extremely noisy so the kids and the adults didn’t sleep very well
- Was a bit difficult to find as up a steep narrow street, closed to traffic at the top end.
- Only instant coffee is available during breakfast

The hotel was good for our one night stop over

Traditional village hotel, with excellent restaurant bar and cafeteria. And, rare in a mountain village, a small swimming pool. Friendly staff in a friendly village.
The location, near the lake and mountains Comfortable room and good food; very good value for money menu in evening and plenty of choice at breakfast
Good location near the centre of the village. Friendly and helpful staff. Value for money with included breakfast and evening menu also good.
Was a bit difficult to find as up a steep narrow street, closed to traffic at the top end.
The hotel was pleasant and an excellent base for ski and snowboard trips to the Sierra Nevada mountains. The room was simple but had all the basic amenities. The staff and owner do not speak English but are very welcoming and friendly; hence, the language barrier wasn't a problem. Traditional Spanish breakfast provided power for skiing and snowboarding. It consisted of pan con tomate (Spanish-style grilled bread with tomato), Spanish ham and cheese, and tasty homemade desserts. The car park behind the hotel is huge and secured overnight.
Only instant coffee is available during breakfast
This hotel is excellent value the rooms are clean and comfortable and the fact soap and shampoo is supplied is excellent. Breakfast is lovely and the evening meal is tasty and great value if you want it
To be honest not much except possibly the noisey cockeral keeping me awake but I can't blame that on the hotel!
Great facility, very clean. Amazing view from rooms. Cozy common areas with fireplace. Friendly stuff. Stayed for lunch at the restaurant. It was amazing and exceeded all expectations.
everything perfect for a few days skiing in sierra nevada, its 20 / 25 minutes drive to the large carpark, close to main ski lifts.
Lovely terrace where one can enjoy very good value lunches.Breakfast was included in the price. This family run hotel was spotlessly clean.Appreciated having private car parking. The hotel was nicely located in centre of town. While the pool was open access to it was locked and probably if we spoke Spanish this could have been resolved. The hotel has a lot to offer at a very reasonable price
Would have liked a hairdryer
The perfect place to wake up and go on an adventure early. It is well situated with views of the nearby mountains and close to the start of the most famous treks. You can hear the bird sing, and a nearby mule occasionally snorts, reminding you that you are no longer in the bustling cities. The place feels rustic, there are cat cubs roaming the vicinity, and the owner himself gets your breakfast on the table. They have crystal glasses in the room, perfect if you intend to drink something without going out with your friends. If you prefer going out, the city has some cool places to go as well. The hotel's common room downstairs was always full of adventurers, talking about their expeditions to the mountain, past and future.
You can expect fruits, bread, ham, and cheese for breakfast. Those are not too many options, especially if you are vegetarian. However, this was not a setback in our travel as the city is full of bakeries and cozy places to eat.The staff was kind enough to take note that we were vegetarian and avoided offering meat-based dishes during our stay, which feels like a lot in this part of the world sometimes.
The staff were great, the restaurant superb and the value amazing.
Everything was in need of updating. Also no WiFi in the rooms.
Small family run hotel
My bed was too soft !! But value for money!!
We stayed for 2 nights, the staff were ok and friendly but they did not speak English at all, we told them that we don't speak Spanish but still they were speaking to us Spanish did not even and they did not even try
Lovely location, staff were friendly however they did not speak much English, nothing a Google translation didn't resolve. Breakfast was great, continental, bar drinks not expensive.
Unfortunately our Aircon wasn't great, being that we were on the 4th floor the room was very hot and humid at night so I didn't really sleep much for the 2 nights we were there. The Aircon box had been taped up with plasters and therefore kept on failing and not release much air at all.
The room was very clean and although on the old side, the air con was working. Basic room but the price quality ratio was very good. Breakfast was ok.
The only thing that really bothered me was the loud music from the terrace of the hotel restaurant on both nights, well beyond midnight. In such a tranquil village this was unexpected and very unpleasant. Basically I couldn’t sleep until it ended and having gone hiking quite early in the morning, this was not nice.
Breakfast was great. The location was picturesque surrounded of beautiful mointain landskape.
There were no hairdryers but luckily I had one with me.
Location is great, right in centre. Staff is nice & helpful. The town has some beautiful views. Room is older but does have all you may need.
Facilities were once grand, a bit tired nowadays, swimming pool was not open in May. Free wi-fi is good downstairs but in the room on the second floor the signal was slightly spotty if you needed to work remotely. For browsing it was fine,
