Giethoorn Old Art Hotel

We understood our payment, according to emails, would be taken out within 7 days of our arrival. However, we were asked to use our credit card again, to enable the check-in to proceed online. Therefore, we may have paid twice. No receptionist to help.

The property was lovely and in a great location. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated and the staff were friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately for us the rooms are sprayed with a strong perfume scent after cleaning. We are allergic to the scent and became sick even with the windows open.The manager did offer for us to change rooms however they were all sprayed with the strong scent and he would not refund our money. The staff also were helpful but the problem could not be fixed.

The hotel is right on a canal and we had a great view from our room overlooking it. The beds were very comfortable (loved the pillows). We also had a table with 2 chairs that were very comfortable. The included breakfast was very good.

Not unexpected, but the staircase was narrow and made it somewhat difficult to get the luggage upstairs.

The room is ok, it contains everything you need. The bathroom looks very nice. The doors in the hotel have parts of paintings of the Dutch Masters as subject. Really refreshing. There is no reception, you need to check in with a machine which gives you your room number and a pin code for the door. Breakfast is served in the same building, however you need to go outside and enter through another door, adjacent to the hotel's entry, which is ok. The staff serving breakfast is helpful. The hotel is very good reachable as it is situated at a big parking area.

It is a pity that the walls seem to be made of plywood. Luckily there weren't too many visitors, I can imagine it can be relatively loud.

Super amazing location, restaurants and are very supermarket near, boat rental just in front of it, they need to pay more attention to cleaning and and spry something for the fly's.

Fly's were there, weird smell I think it's coming from the restaurants near by.

No A/C and couldn't open windows: outdoor restaurant table and patrons in the way! Mattress didn't have any lateral support and blankets too short(I'm only 5'9")

This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had.There was no reception desk at all, which made the check-in process confusing and unwelcoming.At the restaurant, after I politely thanked the staff member, she shockingly replied, “You are not welcome here.”That kind of response is completely unacceptable and unprofessional.I was traveling with two young children, and they forced me to book two separate rooms — something I’ve never encountered before.I also called ahead to request a baby bed, and after more than four hours, they finally called me back only to say it was too late and they wouldn’t provide one.This hotel lacks basic hospitality and respect for families.I do not recommend staying here, and I certainly won’t be coming back.

The location of the hotel is super nice. The check in process was also quite smooth and easy. The rooms themselves were quite clean and well maintained

The check out time is a bit odd at 10 30 am. While there was hand soap and shower gel present, some tooth paste would have been nice to have in the bathroom

No drinking water in room. Also, when I arrived early there was no safe place to store my luggage and one of the staff told its my problem. So, I had to pay extra money for early check-in to be able to put my luggage safely in the room.

Close proximity to town, great breakfast.

No interaction with staff at all during the stay other than via email. Check in was easy thru kiosk but missed people interaction, tips, guidance

I booked this hotel because I had planned to reach the hotel early and I need a luggage room but unfortunately a few days prior arrival I was told that the luggage room was insecure and on my own risk

In room 120 the TV didn't work.Although I went for breakfast at 09:20, at breakfast I only found omelette and boiled eggs. The bacon was finished, the breadcrumbs were finished. Also, I found only 2 slices of sliced ​​cucumber and a few sliced ​​cherry tomatoes. No other vegetables. When I made my coffee, there were 3 bananas in the fruit basket, after a few moments they disappeared. I asked the kitchen staff for more bananas and they replied that they were gone!When I spoke to the lady in the kitchen, she had just opened a box of pressed ham and arranged it on a plate. Although she had been working with the dishes in that area a few moments before, she didn't use gloves when handling the pressed ham and didn't even wash her hands.....Out of 2 coffee machines, only one was working....so you had to wait quite a while.

The rooms are small but thoughtfully set up. There were enough hooks for our jackets, towel and floor mat, heaters were warm and water pressure was good.

We went down for breakfast and came back at about 10a.m. to find out that the housekeeping team had cleaned the room and checked us out. We rented 3 rooms. We came back at the time they finished the 1st room. We could not even access the room, and please note that we have not checked out.

The Check in/Check Out system is amazing easy and fast! The Breakfast is very good and the hotel location is awesome!

It wasn't quiet when other guests were leaving or checking out in the morning! I could hear all the doors strongly slamming many times—Asian guests are very loud!
