Buitengoed Fredeshiem

This is a vacation house and there are several like it at this property. Some have a sauna included. The houses are in a forested area with trails and bike paths. The kitchen is adequate, but I couldn't get the microwave to work. The beds are comfortable. The entry way had enough space for coats and shoes of six people. The heating works well. It was easy for the six of us to use the house as a base, mostly for activities in Steenwijk, which is nearby. If the weather had been nice, it would have been enjoyable to sit on the patio and do nothing, or read.

While there are bikes for rent at the location, all the normal bikes were rented for the weekend we were there. We came by train, and to get around, one really needs bikes or a car. We got bikes at the shop next to the train station without a problem. Other than that, no complaints.

The bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms, and floors of the group house have been completely renovated. The beds are comfortable, and the bedrooms are clean and reasonably spacious. The kitchen is outdated but functional and not bad. In fact, I found it better than expected. It was a wonderful experience with the family for three days.

There are no hooks for hanging towels or clothes in the bathrooms.

The location is rather remote, with nature and hiking trails all around, and access to the outside right from the room.

I was a bit constrained that the check-in in limited until 5 pm, afterwards staff are no longer on premises.

Beautiful location in the woulds, with nice cycle path to get there. Very light room. Good receptioniste and good food at dinner with nice staff.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly to my dog and I. Room was clean, bed was comfy, the bathroom is a good comfortable size and I liked being able to open my door to the garden in the morning for some fresh air

It wasn’t the property’s fault but other guests on the property setting off fireworks. I booked for oud en nieuw, because I found the property through a ‘vuurwerk vrij’ blog. The only bad experience I had here was walking with my dog and a firework went off 5 metres in front of us which gave my dog a lot of trauma, I do not blame the property or management for this

The cottage was cute and well equipped. It exceeded my expectations. It was a good base for our weekend away and the restaurant on site was good

Some of the furniture was worn and the toilet seat upstairs was broken. It was not obvious you need to bring your own towels or pay extra for them.

It was nice hotel there are many facilities available.

It was not centrally located and there are no grocery shops in nearby. Rooms are very small .

Location was central and you can reach Giethoorn city center in 15 minutes.

There is no food variety there. Everything is closed around 8pm in the evening , so only KFC or Mcdonalds was available.Breakfast included was also very expensive. 18 euros for buffet breakfast and there was also not much variety available in the breakfast.

Worst experience ever. Hotel did not honor the check-in due to negligence on their end

No one showed up for checkin. Emergency contact number on the hotel door was not reachable. Tried reaching them several times, was on booking.com customer care line for hours, even they could not reach the hotel. Worst experience ever, we were left stranded at the hotel at midnight and were looking for alternative stay until 4am in the morning. The hotel accepted their mistake calling it a technical error in their phone. In my 15 years of travel experience I never had such a terrible experience with a hotel stay.

The location is beautiful and quiet. There is an open field, to which the houses face and behind there is a nice forest area. There is privacy and it is not at all crowded.The staff was very nice and helpful.It is very relaxing and good for a weekend away.

The shower facilities were terrible. Old, moldy, broken. Very very bad indeed, not worth (any) money. Luckily we were just there for a weekend. Not taking action on the renovation of the shower facilities would definitely make me not book there again, which is a shame considering the location to be very nice. The house is somewhat empty, lacking decoration or cosyness - there were no pillows or blanket or rug... Seems very naked with some very random paintings on the wall.Beds could be more comfortable but that is something to think about after the shower room. Overall cleanness of the house was satisfactory, cobwebs and dust everywhere.

Very nice location and sufficient space for a group. Well spaced houses for complete privacy and good facilities it terms of kitchen and other equipments.

Location, privacy, petfriendly area

Spiders and spiderwebs, no heated bathroom floor (always wet), damp smell at first (got better when heated)

Natural environment~ Hotel was around with green trees, wild flowers and nice and fresh air, birds' singing woke me up in the sunshine morning, reception desk and breakfast room were both I enjoyed...bright and relaxing...Besides, I really appreciated the help from a young and tall lady (sorry I forgot her name).She was very nice, very patient and very helpful... she came to knocked at my door twice to make sure I could get a taxi arragment.. She deserved all the praised words for what she did...

It took me around 40 minus to drag my baggage to walk to the hotel and I was told this was the only way for a single lady without driving a car. So if the hotel can think about to arrange a small hotel pick-up will be better(with payment for this pick-up)..otherwise, this hotel may have to fit for the people who drive a car only !

The worst experience I’ve ever had in lodging.

Furniture is old; bed is uncomfortable. Bath shower was easily flooded which caused safety issues.

The location and maintenance, well kept, close to Steenwijk and Giethoorn. The infrastructure is also simplistic and in the woods, which gives that rustic feeling.

The people at front desk. I have travelled all over the world and do not take towels with me nor linens. After a flight of 9 hours, the last thing that you want to do is to go look for towels and linens. In a 3 bedroom cottage, the beds in only 2 bedrooms are made so I need to do the rest myself. Besides, I never received my refund on the accidental damage warranty because I left 3 coffee cups in the dishwasher and trash near the bin, while nothing was damaged. I will never stay here again and will not recommend this place. I have this feeling of not being welcome as they seem to rather service local visitors.
