Very arrogant, condescending host. We booked as it was shown as pet friendly in booking, but it wasn't and instead of empathy for our loss he behaved in a way I would never expect from someone in this business. I will never ever go back there

The experience was close to perfect, but if one improvement we would love to see is a queen size bed

Very friendly staff. From the first moment we arrived till the moment we left. The room was very spacious and very lovely decorated.The breakfast was amazing. Not only was it very complete and tasty. They went the extra mile in preparing the breakfast with eye for small details.

We loved our beautiful, comfortable room and our host was so welcoming and made us feel at home. We had a wonderful breakfast in the dining room. The whole place is beautifully decorated and a unique experience from standard hotels.

I honestly can’t think of anything. We loved our stay here and will be back if we have the opportunity. Our host and the staff were wonderful.

A lovingly restored old house in the centre of Steenwijk, a few minutes walk from the market and Rams Woerthe. Apparently also a very good restaurant, but we didn't get the chance to eat there.

An old building has weak noise insulation. They do provide earplugs.

The staff were nice and friendly

In the bathroom there were two small soaps for bathing. A hand wash in the washbasin would have been good. And liquid soap for the body as well.

Cute room above a restaurant with a traditional Dutch box bed. Friendly and helpful service, and the usual facilities.

The room was rather small and didn't have much storage, and we kept banging our heads on the light hanging low above the bed. The bell from the nearby church clocktower was a bit annoying in the mornings.

Our best night's sleep in comfortable bed with a delicious breakfast the following morning. Loved seeing the old smithy & just were sorry we couldn't have dinner. The building is full of character & the hosts were very kind & helpful.

it was a charming former blacksmith shop with the forge and tools still in situ. The host went out of his way for us even taking us to the station. Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. A great place to stay to visit Giethoorne

The steps were quite steep but our host took our luggage up to our room for us.

Amazing room. Friendly staff. Historical building with a really nice old ex smiths' room at the hotel. You can feel the history here. Great location.

Considering the high end restaurant which this place also has, the breakfast is quite "normal", so moreexpensive side considering the content. (This is not really a complaint. )

The person checking us in was very unfriendly and aggressive. I felt like an inconvenience instead of like a guest/customer. Getting an invoice for the stay was extra challenging and my ask for one seemed to cause more frustration for the staff.

The couple owned this place are amazing. We had the smallest room yet it was so quaint and clean!! So memorable!! Breakfast was also great!!

Not a thing. Well the stairs are steep but that’s part of the experience.

Extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help us, including driving us to the train station on a rainy day!

Nice room, comfortable bed, clean. Liked the decoration. Very central location.

Only annoying thing was the noise (our room faced the street and the bar nearby was noisy until late in the night). It was ok with the windows shut and luckily the weather wasn’t too hot during our stay. Breakfast was nice but a bit pricey for what you get.

We cannot say enough good things about The Old Smithy. Friendly, immediate assistance in any matter and the great location, along with really good owners made this venue our best Booking.com stay ever. It is establishments like this that give booking.com a good reputation.Thanks you Unka and Inga (probably spelling the names incorrectly) for a lovely stay.

Classy, comfortable room for a couple will all needed facilities. The hosts are super friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay here.

It's just 8 minutes walking distance from the Steenwijk train station and the no.70 / 270 bus stop to Giethoorn . It locates at the main square and the shopping area of the district, so It is really easy to find something to eat. The traditional decoration of my room It's fantastic!The staff are nice and helpful.The restaurant of the hotel is inviting, I wish I could have a chance to have dinner there, ( It was fully booked because of it popularity)

Actually it is not the thing I don't like, I just want to remind others of the problem of Netherand's traditional staircase. The staircases in Netherlands are steep, very very steep, it is really challenging for people with leg problems and with big suitcases. I myself have both problems, but thankfully the nice stuff help me to due with my suitcase, even before I asked them to. Thank you very much!
