Pros +
- We were looking for quiet and clean place to sleep while traveling thru the area, and that's what we got. Nothing less, nothing more.
- The state-owned Paradores chain is one of the jewels of Spanish hospitality. These places are oases of calm class, and Argomaniz was no exception. The setting is just lovely, looking out over the agriculture of the plain below. Everything about this place is just "right" - peaceful rooms, great water pressure in the shower, lovely staff and delicious dinner and breakfast, all in a delightful historic palace. Not showy or super-deluxe, just "right"! Basically unfaultable.
- Large suite. Tower and tub. Good restaurant in site. Excellent breakfast.
Cons -
- I felt that I overpaid for outdated decor, lack of coffee/kettle in the room and annoying emergency light on electric panel that was too bright and could not be covered.
- Leaving!
- While the food was excellent at dinner tge service started off spotty. We were ignored for the first 15 minutes.

Quiet location. Good location to explore from. Nice breakfast. Comfortable room
need to drive every where to explore. not able to control the heat in the room which left it very cold
Lovely setting, clean and peaceful
Lovely setting in a quiet village, with countryside on the doorstep, so ideal for walks and bike rides from the hotel. Most rooms seem to have great views over to the hills. Lovely buffet breakfast with plenty of choice and nice food in the restaurant, with the option of eating in the cafe for a lighter meal.
As it's in a small village, there are no other facilities nearby, so you are limited in choice of eating options without travelling out somewhere else and so you will need transport.
Very comfortable and great service
Facilities a bit tired, food in restaurant luke warm
Good location on the way from SW France to the Algarve
No bar food apart from delicious anchovies until 8.30. Not great for tired travellers. No kettle in the room
Great food, Classic Parador, nice bar and restaurant, staff friendly and helpful, parking easy and great rooms.
Front of hotel was covered with scaffolding but this has to be done from time to time. Bedroom only had patio doors for ventilation, rather than windows with openers.
Everything was fabulous! Extremely comfy room and bed. Scrupulously clean. Amazing food in the restaurant. Really wonderfully relaxed breakfast with a vast array of food. Super staff. And very peaceful indeed. Perfect!
Another lovely stay at this hotel. Nice spacious room very comfy bed. Big car park Restaurant great
Lovely quiet location in a hamlet- no shops or cafes close by. Bilbao is only an hour away.Reception gentleman was top class- friendly and helpful.Gardens were lovely with plenty of seating.Restaurant is real old world- amazing timber design.
2 barmen downstairs. Elderly man was top class- efficient and friendly. The younger man was preoccupied with logging his records on the computer and kept 3 of us waiting 5/10 minutes without an apology- he needs to learn about customer service from his colleague who eventually looked after us.
Nice location, a bit remote but that is how we like it. Quiet. Nicely renovated building.Superb bed (superior room). Good food. Nice price / quality. We met very nice staff in the bar :-) sadly I don'tknow her name..
Parking available if you are lucky. If there is a wedding, things can get noisy and the parking spaces are probably more than full. Staff at the reception not very helpful and grumpy.Dining at the restaurant is not a romantic diner, before you are done, they already take your plate to give you your main. Meaning they want you to leave as soon as possible I think....Photos on the web site are a bit optimistic, we overlooked a very nice .... concrete parking lot
The building, our room, the beds, the little garden that came with the room and breakfast. The staff very kind.
No food in between meal times, not even a sandwich. Difficult to open terrace door which is very heavy. We were cold, it was October and no central heating but the staff provided us with a radiator. No bath robe or slippers. The staff overworked. Only one person at the desk and lots of queues to get her attention.
Our room was amazing, a very spacious suite which was superbly fitted out and scrupulously clean and breakfast was good.
Our evening meal could have been better. We both chose duck which was overcooked. It would have been good if we had been asked how we liked our duck cooking.
Breakfast was super as was the lunch and the dinner. Food super and excellent value
loved everything
We arrived later in the afternoon so did not manage to walk around the area, but the views from the hotel were amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was very comfortable and quiet. We enjoyed the evening meal and there was a lot of choice for breakfast. We have stayed in a Parador hotel before and love the old buildings they are in.
The only niggle, is with being British, it would be lovely to have some tea making facilities in the bedroom. Nice to have a cup of tea whilst you are unpacking.
Nice, attractive interior, fine public rooms. Comfortable bed
Restaurant service was one of the worst I have encountered in a Parador. Wait for 45 minutes without even a menu. Rude staff ignored our requests and failed to make eye contact. One waitress literally threw my wifes dessert at her.
Good location for stop over from the port, lovely room and food.
Poor
The restaurant service was appalling. We reserved a table and were seated with menus and waited 40 minutes with no service. No offer of a drink, no bread, no apology. Worse, a disabled lady with two crutches was kept waiting to be seated for 10 minutes. They only found her a table after we intervened. Again no apology or explanation.
